Many people wonder what this rather impressive looking building. It's like a cross between the British Museum and Freuds. Inside are the offices of Oxford University Press, which publishes academic books on every subject under the sun, academic journals, educational books, classic children's fiction and, of course, the world-famous Oxford English Dictionary. I really like their 'Very Short Introductions' series, which consists of, well, very short introductory books to Big Topics, ranging from the general (eg: 'Philosophy') to the more specific: (eg: 'Freud', 'Shakespeare'). They're interesting and great for blagging your way through intellectual cocktail or dinner conversations. read more
