You know the journey won't be boring if there's a Smiths at the station. This one has quite a reasonable selection of magazines, following the Oxford stereotype and focussing more on titles like 'The Economist' than lads mags, although there are plenty of both. I like the way that different Smiths stores have different magazines depending on their location (train magazines at a train station), but it's frustrating if you rely on your favourite mag being there for a potentially boring journey, only to find that particular branch doesn't have it! Still, there are usually some reasonable books, alongside the trashy travel novelettas, and there's always the paper.
Their sweets are nothing special and rather overpriced: I remember when Haribo used to be 99p a bag! It may not be that much in many places anymore, but there are certainly lots of places in Oxford selling it cheaper than here. The same goes for chocolate, and they seem to stock a disproportionate amount of Cadburys. Still, if you've got the craving, you'll buy it - I certainly do! read more
