My son has attended Oxford Academy for almost 2 years. In 2019 the school changed hands and is now run by a wonderful woman named Teri. Teri is on site every day and seems to have a remarkable connection with all of her students. Recently, Teri's daughter has also been working at the school. This is quickly becoming a wonderful, family run school that is intent on creating a supportive environment for learning. If you are looking for a trustworthy preschool, you owe it to yourself to at least sit down and speak with Teri. read more

I love Oxford Academy! My daughter has been going there for over 2 years. The owner and staff are very sincere and care about the kids. My daughter loves going here and most of the kids that she has been in class with are still there with her. That says something. Initially i thought this would be a temporary school for my daughter but I wouldn't move her now even if Oxford were more expensive (which it isn't!!!) They have a affordable hot lunch program, daily reports on their eating, napping and other activities! The prices are affordable and the hours are great! The playground is great. Better than many schools I visited. Although it's in the back of a shopping center and at first you question it when you arrive- looks are deceiving... My daughter loves going to school and has thrived here! I feel completely comfortable having my daughter here during the day! read more

I have managed enrollment for 65 childcare centers nationwide. The company I worked for had no locations locally, so set out to find accolades of childcare provider I had learned first through business and then becoming a parent. It is not how new the toys are the kids or us parents care about, it is the people they are with and whom care for them that leave sole impression mattering most. Andrea immediately caught my attention in our initial phone call at, on the spot, immediate knowledge of those under her care individually and the ratios. When inquiring about availability, she wasn't talking numbers, she was speaking names and birthdays. True, the facilities could use but of a facelift; however, I value trust and earnest intent above all. The infant room was wonderful for our son. The only reason we left was because of health issues and as a parent, but also employee--the question--really comes down to cost / benefit of reliability. To be fair, I wouldn't have had my son remain at oxford through the preschool years, but that is a personal, educational evaluation, not relative to quality of care. While the regulation And check points are key, I didn't want my son in the arms of an institution--And oxford academy gave more than that. Teachers, really care givers to my infant son were lovely. Nurturing, patient, and focused. Yes mistakes get made. Anywhere. We are all human and as parents, especially new--think we should have most empathy when met with good will, ownership and solution. read more

I have no idea why anybody would say anything bad about this school or Andrea. The place is not sparkling new, but that is so that they can provide affordable child care. I have seen the cleaning of the toys. I have seen the mulch truck refill the playground. The teachers are so awesome with my son that outdated toys are the least of my worries. Ms. Andrea has been awesome. We put our son in school at 2.5 after being at home with him from birth. She was so helpful and comforting to us and our son. I would recommend this school to anyone. read more

Horrible place, located in a run down plaza in the hood. You drive around back to drop your kids off to see thugs smoking cigs at other stores nearby. The playground is dangerous and falling apart, surprised the state actually allows this place to be open. The inside is very unsanitary...you can actually see all the dirt and again everything is falling apart. The owner and director will lie to your face and talk down to you as if you do not have any say in your child's upbringing. They also do not let you pack your own food for their lunch, which the stuff they fed the kids was junk! Lastly, this one tops the cake...you are not allowed to visit with your child. It is the worst place I had ever seen and I felt like an awful mother for subjecting my child to it for the first month we moved here. read more

My daughter has been going here since the 3s shes almost 5. She loves going everyday and looks foward to making projects with her teachers and classmates. Her learning scale has increased so much in such little time as a young mother with a full time job this day care has helped my daughter and i tremendously in this growing journey. read more

We have been so impressed and surprised by the incredible diligence of the employees of this day care center in maintaining and warm relationship with the children, and their families, that attend the school. It is surprising that such a small operation can be so important and big in our lives. As much as shiny and expensive seems to wow the crowd, I have never been so impressed with the one on one care and attention. I am so thankful we've has this opportunity as it has helped her grow and we are all confident it is an integral part of her development! My son started going there when he was 1. Although I didn't care much for the place, I sucked it up since it was the closest place between work and home. Once he moved to the two year old program, I could no longer hold my nose. This place is just a glorified baby sitting service. They changed staff so much, at some point, I didn't even bother learning anyone's name anymore. I would drop off my son around 7 am, the kids would be watching TV. I would pick him up at 5; still TV on. The so-called art work are done by the staff and they just slap the kids name on them. My son wasn't learning anything there. The last straw is when they tried to charge me $5 for forgetting to send a blanket (I hadn't realized the day before that my son took it home so I didn't bring it back). My son is now at a new place and within two weeks, he has progressed more than he did for months at that place. I just feel so bad that I left him there for so long. By the way, when I went in to give my two week notice, the Director didn't even bother to ask why my son was leaving; all she was concerned about was whether or not I had given sufficient notice and wanted to charge me for an extra week. I don't even know how this place remains in operations. read more

My baby was in the ones for a very brief period of time and left in a high chair almost all day. I know this because he was not walking when all the other babies were and he threw a tantrum when I tried to put him in his chair at home. I also ran into a former staff member who resigned shortly before leaving myself and she confirmed that the one year olds are constantly left in high chairs of the table. They use the chairs for stories, art, and even TV. Why are 1 year olds watching TV at daycare and not...oh, I don't know...LEARNING/PLAYING?!?! What was I paying for? On top of that, he was CONSTANTLY sick and even contracted a communicable disease from improper sanitation. He is at a new school now and has yet to have a sniffle. Oh, and after the first 3 days of his new school, he started running. There are better options. read more

The only reason why the parents are giving good reviews is because they get a small percentage off their tuition. They don't know the half about that place. Yes they clean there toys but that place is like working on a plantation i thought slavery was over. they treat staff like crap. The pay is the worst. The building is old but if you look really good its not clean they wash towels without bleach they use thoses towels for your kids face, the floors, and the bathrooms.then the wash in cheap detergent. The germs are just floating around together. and then dried. Seems nasty to me! The staff isn't happy but KARLA the eye and ears of the place. they lie to you. If i were you i wouldn't send my child there and its way over price for the tuition for what you get! read more

This place is horrible!! I worked here as a preschool teacher for a few months and also had my child enrolled here. After weeks of neglect and inappropriate behavior from the teachers and the director Andrea and owner Kim pretty much not doing anything to change it I had had enough. I quit and pulled my daughter out immediately. The facility is disgusting. Dirty isn't even the word. They take the time to clean absolutely nothing there. Not to mention if your child has diarrhea, pink eye, fevers, hand foot and mouth or any other illness they LET THEM STAY! So not only is that child sick but now every other child and teacher in that building is at risk of getting it because they will not send a sick child home. This place was so horrifying that I refuse to send my child to any other child care facility. That's how much this place scared me. Do NOT let your child go to school here. The teachers aren't even certified either to be working there. Stay FAR FAR away from this place. read more

My son attended Oxford for over 2 and a half years and during that time he was subjected to dealing with a revolving door of teachers, terrible kids with behavioral problems, a Director with an addiction to alcohol who would come to school drunk, and physical abuse by the other kids that was ignored and covered up by the incompetent staff. Even after numerous conversations about my concerns and evidence of the issues, they refused to accept any responsibility or do anything to improve the state of the school or the safety of my son...I was told my son was the problem and was told to leave (this after hearing nothing but good things about him and his behavior for the entire time we were there). There are so many other choices out there, I stayed so long due to my job being across the street and I had the ability to pop in whenever I wanted - but I would never have put him there as an infant and I regret keeping him there that long. All the parents know about Kim's addiction issues and the assistant director did nothing but cover them up and hide the fact she was in Rehab from the parents. Nobody who works here wants to be held accountable for their actions or the fact that they don't adequately supervise or educate the children there. Terrible choice! read more

If possible I would give this Daycare a -5 stars. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered dealing with a daycare. I have had several issues with this school however the final straw was when my husband picked my son up from school and was told that my son had several "accidents" and was not ready to be potty trained after he has had none or 1 accidents on the 3 days priors. they stated my son had several accidents he was getting it on the other children and was playing in it and they wanted my son to be back pull up. When I asked what changed from the 1st 3 days to today, I was advised he had multiple accidents everyday when confronted about them only putting sending home 1 pair of clothes and not requesting any additional clothes they finally admitted he only had the one accident and the real problem was they were spending to much time with my son. At one point they put a pull up on top of his underwear to avoid taking him to the potty. When I advised them my son would not return due to the false reports, inconsistency and our inability to see eye to eye they told me if i did not give them notice they would send me to collections, I told Andrea I would not allow my son to stay their another day and we did not agree on his child care. Another parent advised me they physically reprimanded her child by shoving him in the chairs by his shoulders 3xs when she confronted them they said no big deal we will do that or pull their arms across the chest by their hands because "they have 20 kids and do not have time to put them in time out" this was on the camera at the daycare (only visible in their office). The do not provide accurate information on the daily sheets they send home and do not notify you of events by sending something home or the teacher mentioning it they post a notice on the door and hope you see it if not that is not their problem. The turnover for employees and students is astronomical and parents are reprimanded for voicing their concerns. When you speak to them about an issue it is not confidential they gossip about it like it is high school and they discuss your child with you they do it in the open in front of other parents/children very unprofessional. My son has been in his new daycare almost 2 weeks and is doing amazing, he is using the potty and he is happy when we pick him up. I filed an official complaint and they lied and would not be honest about what occurred which is why I am posting the complaint to hopefully prevent 1 parent from making a terrible mistake.f you love your child do not bring them here!!!!!!! read more
