Ended up with three managers surrounding me. Felt like a criminal. If you are traveling from the US (ie, card "doesn't have a chip in it") then avoid, or make sure you are carrying cash. PostScript: card worked fine, the clerk just wasn't familiar (or willing to deal with) with the types of credit cards US banks issue.

HUGE new Sainsbury's store recently built on Limborough Road. The store has been sited with a large…read morecar park and multi storey too which is yet to open. This shop also has a convenient little café for a quick snack or a cup of coffee. Lots of lots of tills which should keep the queues down, although there are never enough open at the end of the working day (especially Fridays) or at weekends. The queues can get really long at peak times. The staff are very friendly I've never been served by anyone in this shop who hasn't been nice and helpful Lots of choice in stock: food, health & beauty, electricals, magazines, games, music and DVDs. I am a huge fan of the various pound shops, but the one in Wantage is quite disappointing…read more It is quite small, and although it has a quite a lot packed into it they seem to have spread themselves a bit thin by trying to cover too many different types of products. It can alsoi sometimes be a bit difficult to get around the shop as when they are unpacking new stuff to put on the shelves it does block the aisles a bit. But a useful shop to have in Wantage, especially as a lot of places dont have a pound shop at all! Maybe they will extend in the future!

Clovers is a good shop!…read more I visited the one in Berinsfield before I realised there was one in Wantage, and they are both quite similar in terms of size and what they sell. They have a huge range of stuff from toiletries to suitcases, and loads of storage boxes which for some reason always really appeal to me! They are also very cheap! They are situated next to the pound shop in wantage, and are much better in my opinion!

The choice and quality of the clothing put out in the shop is always nice and clean, and the shop is always looking nice and smells fresh and clean. The book area isn't very big which is a shame as I often pop in for books most of the shop is taken up with ladies clothes. Its a Tesco, same as the thousands of others around…read more Negatives: They pile boxes of stock in the windows with deal stickers on but this looks messy; I have never seen the staff smile; the layout of the shop is poor and I wouldn't be surprised if they had lots of shop lifting Positives: open til 11m every day including Sundays (perhaps this is why the staff never smile); decent enough range for the size of the store.
