This Oxfam conforms much more closely to the commonplace 'charity chop' archetype that I was much more familiar with before coming into contact with the new-age Fair-trade shops. This place is awash with semi-decent second-hand clothes and hand-me-downs, old ornaments, used videos and cassettes, and baskets bursting with cast-off scarves, ties and sunglasses to rummage through. It is this longstanding custom when it comes to charity shops that I enjoy and that I particularly admire about this branch. It has remained faithful to the charity shop practice of old. You can really get stuck in here and have a good delve through the assemblage of relics minus any of this counterfeit fair-trade gobbledygook.
Being located in Dun-Laoghaire the shop isn't waterlogged with the same upper-crust hand me downs as charity shops closer to town would boast (in light of the fact that there are some fairly affluent areas South of/ and in and around central Dublin and so the model suburban resident would expectedly have high-quality clothes to 'hand down') but nonetheless there are some interesting assets to be unearthed and hence more than worth a visit if you are in the area. read more
