This is a fairly large Oxfam store, that often sells furniture items to compliment the bric-a-brac. It has a good selection of clothes and the prices are cheaper here than you find in other charity shops closer to the town centre.
I nearly went to work for Oxfam, but instead I ended up working with the Body Shop in India. I was responsible for setting up manufacturing projects in a very poor area in the South, working with women with polio disabilities and leprosy. It was amazing, but I do wonder if my choices had been different, where my work with Oxfam would have taken me...Anyway, I digress... Oxfam... Yes! I love these people, there's no two ways about it. Their charity shops are always well manned, and professionally put together. I like the fact that they stock new fair trade items as well as the secondhand goods, and it has often proven to be a lifesaver where the coffee is concerned! I have to admit to preferring the Pdsa for books, as they always have a good selection and the prices are half what they charge at Oxfam. Nevertheless, I buy a fair amount f books from here, and I'm grateful that they put them in alphabetical order! (Unlike the Pdsa). read more
