I stupidly thought I should switch vets and start bringing my dog to Kinnic because my other vet is…read morein New Richmond and I ddn't want to keep doing the drive. Kinnic is awful. They make you feel stupid. When I brought my dog in it was for allergies. He itches himself a lot and has bad ear buildup. The vet basically went on and on about what I was doing wrong, sold me a product that cost me $200 (and I later found out had the same ingredients as a product I can buy at a pet store for $20) and then took my dog in back to clean his ears. I proceeded to sit through 10 minutes of what sounded like a dog being tortured. I had no idea what to do. I wasn't sure if it was my dog I was hearing or what. I was beside myself, tearing up. Finally the vet pops her head back in and tells me not to worry, another dog was getting a bone popped back into place. Um, even so, I don't want to sit and listen to what sounded like an animal being tortured. I promptly switched back to my New Richmond vet. The drive is worth going somewhere that actually cares about animals and doesn't overcharge you on products. Nor have I ever had to listen to animal torture with them.

My dog Benji had a BLAST at both daycare and boarding over a weekend at K9-Playtime!! However, he ADORES other dogs, and his favorite thing in the whole world is being around them and playing with them. It's hard to travel with Benji and he'd struggle if I left him with a dogsitter, so when I had to leave for a weekend recently I decided to try boarding him. Since K9-Playtime includes daycare (a full day of socializing and playing with the other dogs) in their boarding package, they definitely seemed like the best option for Benji, but I was still nervous about how he'd do. The staff at K9-Playtime were super communicative, helpful, and lovely! They asked lots of great questions about Benji's behaviors in different situations to see if daycare and boarding would work for him. I brought him in for a couple partial days of daycare to test things out, and the staff were awesome with Benji and he loved it there! They said he was great with all the dogs and staff members and gave him the OK for boarding. The whole weekend I was waiting for a call saying that he was anxious and needed to be picked up early, but I was so surprised and relieved that Benji spent the whole weekend at K9-Playtime with no issues and actually had a really fun time!! He was happy and exhausted from playing when I picked him up, and honestly seemed sad to leave all his new friends! He just played with the other dogs all day long while he was there, with breaks for meals and snacks, and by bedtime he was too worn out to be anxious (or conscious lmao). They posted a picture on their social media that includes him, and he just has the biggest goofiest grin on his face as he's running around with the other dogs! I definitely recommend checking out K9-Playtime if your dog is anything like mine! It's so nice to have them as an option for Benji if I need to work a long day or travel. Great experience with them for both me and my dog!

Dr. Rinke "gets" animals and has a way of making them feel comfortable at the vet. She was also the only vet I took my hefty cat to that gave me really good advice for how to get my pudgy boy to lose weight -- and it worked! It can be hard to find if you aren't from around here, but well worth the travel. Like every kind of service, you tend to save a lot of money vs. the city by using the county equivalent, as well.

Kathy gladly shares coat care tips as well as behavior training tips. She groomed our springer spaniel, Kylee, for years and now grooms our high maintenance labradoodle, Izzy.
