Shane and Jared were an absolute hit at our party! Shane's more traditional caricature style, combined with his fun and personable approach, made for an amazing experience and excellent drawings. Jared brought a completely different, Ren and Stimpy-esque style that guests loved, and he was very easy and enjoyable to work with. Having two artists with such distinct styles added even more fun--guests loved getting drawings from both, comparing styles, laughing, and showing off their artwork. At our request, the night wrapped up with a caricature duel where the artists drew each other--this was a lot of fun! I love caricatures, I think they're so funny and I crack up seeing what features they emphasize. It's been a long time since I've gotten one so I was so excited to see Over the Line Art at the Sounders game! I stood and watched a few be made and they were so cute! The artist are beyond talented Apparently they pop up around Seattle at the Space Needle and Pike Place. I jumped at the chance to get my caricature done. It only takes a few minutes so they make small talk and I watched them struggle to converse with others but I love to talk so I was happy to get to know them. I think I bugged my artist. I might as well have been playing 21 questions and the time went by slowly and awkwardly. When I got my caricature I have vampire teeth and it honestly wasn't as cool as other people's caricature and I say that meaning that these caricatures were really impressive. Mine has confused everyone I've shown and now makes me wonder what the fangs are about. (And FYI ... I say this in the most humble way.... My teeth are near perfect). Especially looking through more art on this page I'm not loving it, but it's cool and I did laugh. read more

On 1/24/24 we called Dex at 4:15p asking where the artist was. Dex informed us he allowed the artist to take a vacation and no one would be coming. Had an overall good experience getting drawn with my boyfriend in downtown Seattle Pros: our artist Teague is Awesome and very sweet! - the drawing was funny but cute and resembled us well - the drawing was semi quick - price, I paid $20 (ten per person, not bad) Cons: Teague left for his lunch right before it was our turn and we had to wait behind someone who was having the whole world drawn. The other artist said we couldn't leave our name with them... we had to wait in the hot sun for over half an hour or lose our spot. Then he was rude to us when we asked if he had a time estimation. Once Teague came back from his lunch all was well but it sucked to have to go through that! Be that as it may I am happy to now have a cute drawing in my room! read more

Lou Medina was an excellent entertainer and artist at our wedding in early May. He was far more popular, especially among the kids in our family, than we ever expected! Since we had him start drawing right after dinner and before first dances, we realized that several of our guests weren't watching us because they were in line for a caricature with Lou, lol. He is warm, funny, and quick at drawing black and white caricatures. I enjoyed his artistic style - he uses a black pen and light grey pen for emphasis on various parts of the face as well as shading and contouring. Lou was even willing to draw a portrait of a family who was not able to attend my wedding, but who wanted very much to come! Over The Line is over the top good. I can't say enough about the hardworking guys at this awesomely unique company. I had the pleasure of working with them for a big corporate event and not only did they show up as planned but they did it with huge smiles on their faces. Remember how cupcakes were all the rage 5 years ago? And now it's all about pie? Well photo booths were all the rage back then too but now people want caricature drawings! Don't trust me? Just ask the 1,100 guests at my event! Instead of leaving an event with a photo of yourself, why not leave a wedding, a birthday, a corporate event or even the farmer's market with a badass drawing of your likeness? Look for these guys because they're everywhere and there's no one offering near to the amount of talent or creativity they bring to the drawing board. I can't wait to work with them again. OTLA was recommended to us for an event by another vendor as the best caricature artists they've seen at the MANY events they have worked. Nolan was professional and pleasant throughout the experience. He was flexible and was willing to add an additional hour to the contracted time a few days prior, when we realized we wanted him for longer. Nolan's price was competitive an his drawings were wonderful. So often caricatures don't really look like the people sitting for them, however, often times I walked by the drawings and knew exactly who Nolan was drawing. This was a popular activity at our event and I'm not sure Nolan even had a chance to stand up and walk around, and yet he was still positive and upbeat at the end of 4 hours. I stumbled on Nolan through a work project (on which he did a fantastic job), and got a crazy idea to have him create a caricature of our entire family of 6 for our Christmas card. I don't know how he does it -- Nolan has never met us and only spoken with me on the phone. We hired Over The Line Art for a company picnic last year. We've always had caricature artists at our event and know how popular they tend to be, so we knew we needed to have someone great this year. Nolan and Over The Line Art was recommended as one of the "Best" in our area and Nolan didn't disappoint. There was always a steady line and his pictures were simply amazing. You could absolutely tell who everyone was and Nolan's passion and talent showed in every single picture. You often hear about how awkward it is to sit there while the artist sketches you, but all the feedback about Nolan was that he took the time to make it fun and have an actual conversation with the guests. We've worked with Nolan from Over the Line Productions twice now - both times for kid's parties. The first gig was for half a dozen tween girls. Nolan was generous enough to draw all the girls in color. All of those girls have their caricatures on their walls as a remembrance of the party. The second gathering was a Halloween party with about twenty teenagers. Nolan did black and white drawings of the kids in costume - outstanding! This time we had small poster tubes on hand so the kids could take them home without damaging them. Several parents commented they saved the drawings. Beyond a top-notch artistic talent, Nolan is really impressive in how he interacts with the kids. Tween girls at a b-day party vs. twenty teenagers at a Halloween have a very different vibe yet Nolan had both groups laughing, comfortable and really enjoying the experience. We'd say Nolan a highlight at both parties. Next time we'll be hiring Nolan for a dinner party with both adults and kids - will be great. This review is specific to my experience with the artist Shane-O at the Capital One opening event on 1/19 in South Lake Union. He's great at caricature art but a really abrasive businessperson. I first asked him if he was the person "drawing dog portraits" and he replied "THESE ARE NOT PORTRAITS, THEY'RE CARICATURES." Okay, thought he might be joking/sarcastic. Who takes this that seriously. But when I asked if he'd be willing to draw a caricature of my dog from a photo, he said absolutely not. Okay, again. When I saw him photograph another dog and draw from the photo, I had to ask - what's the difference? He proceeded to shout at me "THIS DOG IS HERE IN PERSON." I'd give 1 star for that experience but giving 3 so as not to unfairly impact the overall business rating. This experience undermines the huge effort that Capital One put into this opening event and certainly left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more
