Celebratory dessert

I was gifted a guest pass while in Hawaii. We had dinner our last night in Hawaii overlooking the ocean. There was an event going on but it didn't bother us too much. The seating and view were absolutely gorgeous! There was a storm brewing and a little rain but it made a nice ambiance. We had chicken wings and clam chowder as an appetizer. The wings were crispy and the chowder was creamy! The burger was very flavorful and generous in size. The filet was grilled to perfection and had a blueberry compote which paired very well. Was served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The Mai tai was a very heavy pour and delicious!

We had our SoHa Christmas party at the Outrigger Canoe Club, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish! The food, drinks, and service were all amazing--everything was delicious and beautifully presented. A huge shout-out to Jordan, Tiare, and Sarah for their outstanding and professional customer service. They truly went above and beyond to make sure our event ran smoothly and that everyone felt taken care of. Their positive energy and attention to detail made the night even more special. All the staff were incredible from front of house to the back The sunset view was breathtaking, the atmosphere was incredible, and the overall vibes were just perfect for a holiday celebration. Highly recommend this place for events or a memorable dining experience!

Food was awesome. It was raining and Brother Kenny. The waiter took care of us. Even June the manager offered to move us out of the rain what awesome service. If you ever want people who care and offer awesome service come to KANIKAPILA Grill. Service is awesome. Parking is great family, friendly, Ohana atmosphere.

Private function. Service was good and food and company was good. Highlight for me was the two seals on the beach. Arrived 3 hrs before I saw them. A 7 year old and 8 year old. Both male. They were sun bathing so not much movement. Great treat to watch.

I was in invited to a work dinner event at the Outrigger Canoe Club. We were treated to a buffet style dinner in one of their private rooms. The menu consisted of a couple of appetizers that we got to choose from: seafood, spring rolls, goat cheese toast, edamame, and coconut shrimp. The main course consisted of salad, mediterranean cous cous salad, rolls, rice, roasted vegetables, grilled lemongrass chicken, braised short ribs, lemon caper mahi-mahi. There were also two small dessert items that were up titled chefs choice canapé duo. One was the chocolate mousse cup, and the other was a Lilikoi tart. I really enjoyed the buffet style dinner because it gave everybody the option to eat as much of the items they liked plus there were leftovers that we were able to take home. My favorite was the Mediterranean couscous salad because it paired really nicely with their celery seed dressing. The chicken was perfectly moist and flavorful, but it reminded me of a shoyu chicken. I heard the slow braised short ribs were very tender. However, I think the mahi-mahi was a little overdone. Dessert was perfect because you were able to choose which one you liked and then you can also take multiple if you liked one more than the other. The view was perfect from the private room. We had a reservation scheduled for 6 PM and we just missed the sunset in November. But I expect maybe other times of the year, you can catch the sun setting into the ocean.

Sometimes you just need to relax and remember how lucky you are to live in Hawaii! Pau Hana Friday is so relaxing enjoying Happy Hour at Outrigger Canoe Club for some delicious local dishes along with some refreshing "pretty drinks"! Our favorite is the fresh Mahi plate! It never disappoints! Truffle fries is a must! Served hot and fresh, a favorite among our mainland friends! You can't go wrong with ordering the poke and calamari. The pizzas, salads and soups are all pretty good too! The menu offers a nice selection to please locals as well as guests visiting from out-of-town! Excellent service every-time! ! If you enjoying dinner around 8PM, sit outside to enjoy the Hilton Hotel fireworks on Friday night! Cheers!

Food was moderate in taste and price. The draw is more of a private ambiance and open ocean front dinning experience. We had fun. My salmon could have used more strawberry salsa. Manager note: photos can not include other patrons of the space for privacy reasons

We had an amazing work event dinner here. The service was THE best especially whenever I wanted a soft drink...mahalo! The selection of food on the buffet was very good and I loved that they marked what was gluten free...Mahalo again! The space and accommodations were perfect for our group size and what an amazing treat to be able to check out this private club.

Stunning sunsets.

We never miss the opportunity to enjoy dinner on the lanai. We have reciprocal privileges through the Hilo Yacht Club and truly appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the club. The team is so kind and welcoming. The food consistent and quite enjoyable.

You need to be a member so I was lucky enough to be invited for a club luncheon! There was 14 of us so we had a nice long rectangular table in a private room off to the side! So breezy, airy and spacious! Who needs air conditioning when you have the cool trade wind breezes! It such a beautiful setting with just footsteps.to the beach! Amazing views with amazing staff! Our server, Josh, is very nice, friendly, and prompt! With 14 of us, he patiently took our orders correctly and efficiently! Kudos to Josh! The Menu has a variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizza and desserts! I had the soft shell crab blt with.thin crispy French fries! I love soft shell crab so when it's on a menu, it's a Must! The soft shell crab is covered with cornmeal which is a little heavy so a little over done but I still liked it with the bacon! It was delicious, came with a dill pickle to top it off! Also, I had dessert! A coffee ice cream mud pie with nuts sprinkled around the plate! I love coffee ice cream so so delicious! The chocolate cookie crust was too hard to break off but was glad the nuts were not on or in the pie cause not a fan of nuts! Perfect luncheon with delicious foods and amazing setting! Hope to be invited back!!

Dined here many times and I've always had the same order. The Mahi Mahi and Grasshopper Pie. (with real grasshoppers - IYKYK) Staff here is simply amazing and the views of Waikiki and the Pacific Ocean never get old.

I was able to join my friends here for dinner on the lanai two different times. You must be a member to come here. Casual, but upscale dining with friendly staff and great food and drink selections. Both times there were local musicians setting the mood. This time we had a couple in Hawaiian dress playing and singing Hawaiian songs visiting each table. The blackened salmon salad and calamari were great. The sunset is great and especially great service from our waitress, Annisse. Great place to view the sunset.

Breaded Mahi-mahi was ok.

How much does it cost to become a member? I've looked all over the website. If you don't know a member, can you still get a week pass to try it out?

You can get a guest pass if you are introduced by a member (email is good). Also, if you belong to a reciprocal club, you can get a pass. Passes are typically good for 2 days or one week. I have never gotten a pass for more than 1 week.

My co-worker invited me to join this league which I paid $70 (early registration per person - it can be $80/person) for Fall 2017 coed volleyball. In Spring 2018 coed volleyball was $800/team for early registration. We had close to 9 people or so which everyone was okay paying. $87/person. Created our own team after we made friends with people and recruited more. Based on only knowing my coworker, they randomly put together my team of 13 people. Through this process, you can make friends from your team as well as from the other teams. I don't know how they decide placement of people, but I actually made friends (at least 7 people) with two opposing teams when we go to the bars after the games. Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 coed volleyball was sponsor by Champs (Sports bar) and Rock Bottom with other beer company (Pacifico and Corona) as these places give us discounts on those beers. I like Champs (Sports bar better) since they have more games and really good food. They always alternate each week of where the post-games are at. The regular season each in fall and spring had two "themes" and my team chose Power Rangers for "hero week" and "America" for "team week" A great way for people to be creative with their "theme" custome. Some teams will dress up prior to match and play in uniform or gym clothes We all got a shirt and each team is represented by a color of the same shirt. Wear your shirts if you want to get the sportsmanship score. It can be used as a tie breaker They allow selfies and the winner gets a $100 tab at a bar based on most people in the selfie, which my team only had maybe 4-5 at one bar and the rest is just 2 (my coworker and me), which we sometimes do selfies or photos with other teams. I wouldn't mind joining other sports this league offers such as: kickball, flag football and dodgeball. 2017 is their 10-year anniversary which our shirt from volleyball mentions. 2018 they went back to the style they used in past of what sport you're playing and what season and year on it. At least this league has some friendly people and some competitive, but it's mostly about having fun and meeting new people and socializing. They have playoffs which half the teams qualify for and if you win, money is donated to a local charity that the winner decides.

KICKBALL. There's a…read moreleague for this?!? For serious. The 2012 season will mark my 5th year playing in this league, and it's just gotten better as the years have rolled on. And after all those years, talking about 808 Sports Leagues and the kickball (and other sports) leagues they put together has never gotten old, especially trying to explain to tripped-out bar-goers on a Monday or Wednesday evening in Varsity or Rock Bottom why there are over 100 people walking around in off-beat, fluorescent or downright bright shirts ... Stranger/Future Kickballer: "So ... kickball?" Me: Yes! There's a league. And I'm on a team. S/FK: "I haven't played kickball since elementary school!" M: .... (Don't worry, we know every one hasn't. :) ) S/FK: (looks out over the sea of forest green, "WOW" pink and KOC blue shirts, among the many colors) "So, how many people are playing in this league?" M: Well, there's 24 teams, about 15-20 people per team, so you're looking at about 400+ adults playing kickball weekly. S/FK: "That's a lot of people. So, you guys have rules and everything? The red rubber ball?" M: Yup. Pretty much the same as schoolyard rules, except no one gets picked last, nah mean? And we even got playoffs and championships! S/FK: (looks around at the bar again, tries counting how many different color shirts) "So, you guys play, and then come out to the bar?" M: Yeah - it's all part of the experience. 20, 30, 40-somethings playing kickball, then chilling out at the bar. S/FK: "I'm sold. Where do I sign up?" ... Unfortunately, by the time we hit the bar in our red/green/blue/pink/orange/yellow/safety green shirts, rosters are closed for the season and you gotta wait to sign up for the next one. Sound fun yet? NO?! Well, read Justin U.'s review. "Great way to meet new people" is like the unofficial motto. Hey - relationships have been started and blossomed over the game of kickball - when's the last time that happened at a pick-up game of basketball? Kickball season runs from March to June, with sign-ups in January-February - don't be *THAT* guy that sees all the 808 Sports Leagues bright shirts and wants in after the ruckus starts! (And if you happen to miss it, there's usually a Fall season of some sport - Flag Football, another Kickball season or .... dodgeball?) SEE YOU OUT ON THAT KICKBALL FIELD!

It isn't only cleanups, they handle restoration and land management by preservation, teaching, and so much more. Kimeona and his team are well versed and well organized in what they are doing. They have equipment so when you arrive, after you fill out the documents online, you are ready to go. We first removed evasive trees along the river. The cool thing was that we moved the branches to a different area that feeds certain Beatles. Then months after the tress/branches were stepped on and crushed to be part of the earth. After about an hour and half of work we took a little environmental tour to learn of the necessary ecological balance needed for the islands. I was motivated to take a pottery class this summer after feeling a bit uninspired from a grueling school year on the mainland. Creating art is an awesome form of stress relief and such a great way to challenge yourself. As a first time student, it can be very challenging to get into a class at HPG. You submit an application and must be picked from a lottery. Look on their website for detailed instructions on how and when to submit your application. Submit your papers at the studio and on-time! There are no exceptions for late applications. I was lucky enough to get into a Monday evening class on the wheel. Classes are 3 hours long and our instructor was great. Every week we went over a new style, technique, or concept. Also, the classes are for all levels of potters. There were people who had never thrown clay before to people who have been doing this for years. Students have access to the guild during the week to come in and work on their projects as well! Clay is purchased from the guild and tools are also available for purchase. Everyone in the studio is extremely helpful and very willing to teach. Over this summer I've learned so much from not only my teacher, but also my peers. The community of artists at the Hawaii Potter's Guild is truly a unique group that cultivates a love and passion for creating. This is definitely not a goodbye HPG, but a see you soon.
