The Outpost Beach Hostel and Bar is situated beach-side near the Pops District in El Nido. It is very secluded and somewhat of a trek to get to. The best way to find it is to tell your trike driver to drop you off at the Outpost stop. Make your way down the stairs until you reach the beach. Turn left and walk on the beach until you spot this hostel. It is a party hostel harboring the likes of young 20-year-old travelers who have no care in the world. They share the area with other bars and hotels so you can really make a trip out of it if you aren't staying here as Republika Sunset Bar, Panorama Beach Club, and Buko Beach Resort are nearby to offer you sips and food for the grandest sunset activities. As it is beach side, having rolling luggage is not ideal, plus at night it is high tide and you WILL get wet and sandy. Expect TRUE island living.
We were staying next door to this hostel. We were in and out as we were sure to pass by every morning. We utilized it once to book an island hopping tour. Their island hopping tours are modified versions of the usual 4 tours (Tours A, B, C, and D). They offer 2 combined tours -- North (Combined Tours C & D) and South (Combined Tours A & B). The benefit of their tours is that they pick you up directly from the hostel and take you to the least crowded destinations. However, they tend to run extremely late and do skip more popular spots (i.e. Big Lagoon and Hidden Beach). You can consider this either a pro or con because the popular spots are INDEED very crowded and the tours they offer are definitely more easy going. Just be prepared for a lot of Spanish kids who steal all the San Mig beer, haha. Their tours are offered at the standard rate (1600 PHP, snorkel gear included) which includes your buffet lunch AND alcohol.
Drinks and food were OK. Their wasn't much Filipino food which is pretty much the norm around El Nido since they are catering to the largely European tourist. They did have Kinilaw, other grilled seafood options, and sizzling pork sigig. The sisig was kind of lame and the kinilaw and fish were of so-so freshness. Their breakfast was a bit of a let down with not a single silog dish, like COME ON!
Even if you do not stay here, it is wide open (literally) for you to join in on any social activities which they have a ton of. Otherwise, it is far from town (10 minute trike ride). If you want to experience the best sunset in El Nido, though, this beach is where it's at! read more
