Wish it was warmer, I heard that their ice cream is excellent.

The feel is a totally local hang so why would any out of towner even know? We are passing through camping at the local camping site, which is awesome, so we hit maps and this place was 1.4 miles sounded perfect. Thankfully we are traveling with cash and a checkbook! The females behind the bar were nice except for one who never smiles and acts like it's a pain to serve customers. I grew up in a family restaurant and then customer service all my life , not cool! I know we are not locals but All customers deserve great service but again all the other women were super good just the one! Food great 5, a bit of a wait, loud atmosphere! Service a 3!

Two of us ordered the tenderloin. It was served on what I would call a "sub roll." The tenderloin was handbreaded and served with fries. There was plenty of food for me, but it was not as pounded flat as I was used to, or as large. For me, it was plenty. One person ordered the ribeye steak sandwich and upgraded the side to cheese curds. Wow! They brought a huge plate of chesescurds. Must have been a full order. The curds were great. It's probably my favorite item we had. Service was very speedy. Parked right outside the door.

The side of freshly made pico de gallo and guacamole was incredibly flavorful and delicious. My husband ordered the fish tacos, and I went with the ribeye. We both loved every bite--everything tasted so fresh, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to perfection. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the interior had that classic, welcoming Mexican seafood vibe. We'll definitely be back if in the area

The latter is the sit down coffeehouse/tearoom side where four of us met for dinner one night. The menu is unique in that there is one page featuring hotdogs with a twist, several twists actually. I was more interested in the page of panini sandwiches, however, so unfortunately I neglected to take better note of hotdog offerings. There are eleven panini's on the menu. One vegetarian, one corned beef, one roast beef, one ham, and one meatloaf and the balance featuring turkey. Common themes among the ingredients are craft breads, havarti cheese, horseradish, and Bistro sauce. It was an evening set aside mostly for conversation over a pleasant meal. Both were enjoyed. I intend to return the next time I am in Sac City so I can take better note of the menu--and partake in one of many cheesecakes, or bread pudding, or pecan rolls.

And I'm going to be honest. I'm picky. I rarely bother to post (like "never") on Yelp. But I felt led to review after coming to this little town's gem of a restaurant. The decor is great and they obviously put a lot of time into turning this beautiful old building around. The pictures of old Sac City are amazing. They also happen to have a creative variety of food (and names for their sandwiches & soups). The end result would succeed not only in regional cities like Des Moines or Omaha; it would work anywhere. The owners - including one in another review described as "bitchy" - were incredibly nice. The food had great variety and taste. Even the hot cider was exquisite. My employee, who owns his own plane, is planning on sending his flying friends here on "air trips". I'll go out of my way to eat here again, myself. You should, too.

We got there about 7 pm on Friday night and it was reasonably busy, though most people were already eating. There were several open tables, but only a few were clean, so we found one and sat. Things started off well enough--the server was friendly, told us about the specials, and brought us each a water right away. We ordered our food, and I had ordered mine without onion, as well as a salad. The order took a while--which again, Friday night, somewhat busy, so that's ok. When the food arrived, it was not good. My entree had tons of onion, and even though I removed them, it still tasted very onion-y, as something covered in grilled onions tends to be. It was also not hot, at all, and my fries were not hot as well. My mom had fish with hash browns, and her fish was somewhat warm, but hash browns were not. Not sure how long our food sat after being done, but obviously quite a while. My salad, which arrived at the same time as our meal, had no dressing, and we needed to flag down our server to get it, as she never stopped back at our table to check on us. I ended up not eating most of my entree and just eating the salad. We were very disappointed as we had been really looking forward to the meal, and I feel like if the food would have been prepared correctly--and served hot--it could have been great. Unfortunately, I don't think we will take the chance again.
