He had my size but there was a blemish that he went to check to see if the cobbler could fix. We remained in touch but never made a move on buying. Fast forward 2 months later and I'm in Montreal again. I went by and spoke to Diana and what do you know - Scarpa had the shoes still. Not only that, but she offered 50% off since the blemish was still there. Plot twist ! I didn't like the shoes that much in person BUT I did like another pair Diana suggested for me and bought those ! Wearing them right now and they are fire. Great experience all around. The 10% discount referenced is an offer the store makes available to customers generally and does not change the nature of my concern. The shoes were purchased as a gift, so presentation matters. The manufacturer's tag was torn off and left loose inside the box. While the shoes themselves were in good condition, receiving them this way was disappointing, particularly for a gift. This is something that should have been noticed before shipping. What I found particularly surprising was the store's refusal to cover the return shipping cost, despite the tag arriving detached. The subsequent response also shifted the focus onto me for raising the issue, rather than acknowledging my concern about how the shoes were shipped. My concern was never about the quality of the shoes, but their presentation and how the situation was handled. Ultimately, this experience fell short of my expectations for both product presentation and customer service.

I couldn't find it anywhere except online and if there's something you need to know about me is that I don't pay for shipping. Ever. So I gave up the search and accepted that I would never have the bag of my dreams.....until one day when my boyfriend brought me to Mile End Kicks. I live nearby yet never thought about checking it out because it completely slipped my mind that it existed. But there it was. MY BAG *heart*. My boyfriend surprised me with it and I've had it ever since. Now I make sure to visit every few months to see if they've gotten anything new recently that could be cool. I don't buy very many shoes so I usually skip that section of the store.

Stumbled upon this place a few years ago when I was in Montreal and bought a pair of shoes I loved…read more I was back in the city this week and stopped in for another pair. I decided to try on something different, but was having an issue where the 9's were fitting weird in the heel whereas the 9.5's felt snug, and I was trying to figure out why. After explaining this to both the lady who was helping me and a man who appeared to be a manager(?), the man leans over to the lady and whispers "he's crazy", and then goes on to say in a lower voice that "he'll probably try all these on and just buy the initial pair" (the shoes I came back to buy). First I'll just say that it was pretty clear that there was a fit issue, as it was easily demonstrable by me trying the two shoes on and lifting my heel. I really wish he had of looked at the issue and tried to figure it out, instead of just explaining what a heel counter was and how Onitsuka's don't have them (it was two sizes of the same shoe so this is irrelevant). The lady, by contrast, provided constructive comments like 'try to really tighten the lower laces to push your foot back'. I've worked this job, and I know how customers can be a pain. And if you're not gonna be helpful, the least you can do is not make such comments within earshot of the customer. Or, maybe in French, as at least I wouldn't understand it. It was a huge turn off and I likely won't be going back, which is unfortunate because this place has an awesome show selection and the people are generally super helpful.

My absolute, without a doubt FAVORITE shoe is the Skechers Winsor Moreno Black. I would buy them all the time and wear them until the soles were worn all the way through. Well, Skechers discontinued that shoe a few years ago and I could not find them anywhere. The thought of buying a used pair off ebay (eww) was a line I would NEVER cross. Anyway, after coming across a bunch of online stores that said they carried the shoe, but worrying me because they had really shady looking websites, I came across J Scherter's website. I did a google search and found that it was an actual store. That was a plus! Further google searches revealed that it was a family owned store...I love family businesses - Another plus! Then I saw it was in Canada. I would have stopped right there but they had my shoes....my favorite shoes! The price was comparable to other sites which were sold out, so I figure "why not"... They accept PayPal payments on their site.....awesome! I bought the shoes, and immediately received an email from J Schreter that the order was received and that I would get follow ups when shipped. I got the follow up the next morning with the tracking info. After that I got periodic PayPal updates on where the shoe was while en route. Fast forward 5 days and they arrived at my door safe and sound! The shoes were in their original Skechers shoebox and there was even a thank you note from the current owner, Steve Schreter.

This shoe store has been in Montreal's Little Italy forever and sells Italian shoes made in Italy…read more I remember back in the day, Montreal was littered with independent Italian family-run shoe stores where they privately imported Italian shoes and had their own suppliers back in Italy, usually located in little out-of-the-way strip malls. I used to see those types of shoe stores in areas where the Italian community are particularly strong, areas like Lasalle, Ville Emard, Pointe Aux Trembles and once upon a time, even in Pointe-Claire. I don't know what happened, but most of those shops are now gone and it's a shame because those shoes lasted me forever and I always got compliments on them because they were singular in their styles and they were reasonably priced. I think Cortina is probably one of the few left now. The service I received here over the years has always been friendly and the shoes are great. Prices here are not cheap but for the quality you get, they are fair. I usually buy boots here.

Since it was a return and I was sad to return them ( for a purchase done at their outlet store in St-Sauveur), she was extremely helpful in trying to help me find an alternative that will fit right. They have an amazing return policy of 60 days which is unheard of these days....On top of it, if you purchase your shoes at any outlet ( st-sauveur or Mirabel), you can exchange or return at any location, which is also unheard of. For those of you who have sensitive feet, you know how hard it is to find a pair of shoes when trying them in stores for five minutes ;-) Basically, their customer service beats many expensive shoe stores I have shopped at in the past. Do not underestimate their selections, they have gone through a good makeover :-) Note: Since there are major renovations at the eaton center, the store is now located in complexe les ailes at the same level as the Sephora. I had a hard time finding it!
