I live nearby yet never thought about checking it out because it completely slipped my mind that it existed. But there it was. MY BAG *heart*. My boyfriend surprised me with it and I've had it ever since. Now I make sure to visit every few months to see if they've gotten anything new recently that could be cool. I decided to try on something different, but was having an issue where the 9's were fitting weird in the heel whereas the 9.5's felt snug, and I was trying to figure out why. After explaining this to both the lady who was helping me and a man who appeared to be a manager(?), the man leans over to the lady and whispers "he's crazy", and then goes on to say in a lower voice that "he'll probably try all these on and just buy the initial pair" (the shoes I came back to buy). First I'll just say that it was pretty clear that there was a fit issue, as it was easily demonstrable by me trying the two shoes on and lifting my heel. I really wish he had of looked at the issue and tried to figure it out, instead of just explaining what a heel counter was and how Onitsuka's don't have them (it was two sizes of the same shoe so this is irrelevant). The lady, by contrast, provided constructive comments like 'try to really tighten the lower laces to push your foot back'. I've worked this job, and I know how customers can be a pain. And if you're not gonna be helpful, the least you can do is not make such comments within earshot of the customer. Or, maybe in French, as at least I wouldn't understand it. It was a huge turn off and I likely won't be going back, which is unfortunate because this place has an awesome show selection and the people are generally super helpful.

The new space is a bit bigger and clean and bright and full of fairly-priced super-solid winter boots. The service I had today was perfect, no pressure at all, totally friendly, perfectly bilingual, gave me all the info with no up-sell tactics or false friendliness. I tried on a couple things, found exactly what I was hoping to find, got great advice on getting my old boots resoled after an unfortunate campfire incident, and left perfectly pleased and with warm dry feet. Some of the styles here for women's boots and hats are, in my opinion, way cheesy. They have nice quality goods but I would buy more here if the look was a little less nineties and a little more high quality Canadian and US made workwear-inspired wools and leathers. But hey, that's just me. Great experience, highly recommend.

There's two levels, and the main street level has the lion's share of clothing and shoes. Vans, Converse, DM's, trendy flip-flops... My kid is a sneaker fanatic and we couldn't tear her away from this store. We loved how all the differently designed sneaks were suspended from the ceiling. Like, hundreds! Yes, shoes and sneakers are a definite draw here, but there seems to be so much more hidden around every corner. And the store is deep, and there's a downstairs which has a gazillion different backpacks here. I'm not exaggerating. A gazillion. What a fun store! Very unique and funky. And the staff here were super friendly, too. Bonus! This was my kid's favorite store in all of Montreal and, if truth be known, we loved it too.

They often have sales, they even pay the tax sometimes and people running the place are very helpful. One time I bought a pair of Adidas boots from Little Burgundy which is right next door, as I walked into Bellini, a sales guys peeked through my bag and curiously asked what I got. Turns out, they carried the exact same shoe but about 30$ cheaper. I immediately turned around to return the pair I had purchased 10 mins ago in favor of this discount. Since then, I made sure to compare brands and always found Bellini had the best prices. One of the owners remembers me and everytime I walk by, he asks how I am doing and what I'm looking for. The people at Bellini make an effort to accommodate to you. It's personalized sales I haven't found anywhere else. The only drawback is that sale items are final purchase.

I tried on three pairs of shoes over a period of about fifteen minutes, at which point one of the men who had been arguing approached me to say that I needed "to go home and think about which shoes I wanted" and that the salesperson would not bring me another pair of shoes. His tone and body language were menacing and his comments were confusing, as I had made a decision and was poised to buy a particular pair of shoes. It was also unclear how he was affiliated with the store (was he the manager? the owner?); he refused to tell me his name. He seemed agitated. I felt quite badly for the salesperson, who was caught in the middle of the situation. The salesperson was nice. Frankly, this experience was very upsetting. Maybe I walked into an already charged situation (i.e., the arguing that I heard at the outset). I certainly hope that such events aren't a regular occurrence. P.S. I'm editing this a day later to add that if you're looking for Converse, as I was, then Boutique X2O Inc on Saint Denis is wonderful, in terms of their selection, prices, and lovely shopkeepers. Don't bother calling or emailing, he's not interested. Adorably, the computer he has at the cash just has shoe size charts taped on the screen, covering it entirely. I don't roll this way personally, but it makes me happy, especially when coupled with a small, tasteful collection of sensible footwear.

This shoe store has been in Montreal's Little Italy forever and sells Italian shoes made in Italy…read more I remember back in the day, Montreal was littered with independent Italian family-run shoe stores where they privately imported Italian shoes and had their own suppliers back in Italy, usually located in little out-of-the-way strip malls. I used to see those types of shoe stores in areas where the Italian community are particularly strong, areas like Lasalle, Ville Emard, Pointe Aux Trembles and once upon a time, even in Pointe-Claire. I don't know what happened, but most of those shops are now gone and it's a shame because those shoes lasted me forever and I always got compliments on them because they were singular in their styles and they were reasonably priced. I think Cortina is probably one of the few left now. The service I received here over the years has always been friendly and the shoes are great. Prices here are not cheap but for the quality you get, they are fair. I usually buy boots here.
