**Beware of Ewing: Customer Service Disappears After the Sale!**…read more After years of purchasing materials from a reliable landscape supplier, I decided to give Ewing a shot, and it was a massive mistake. Initially, the staff was friendly and eager to make a sale, but things took a turn for the worse when they damaged my driveway during a materials delivery. The driver had ample space to pull in straight and dump the load, but instead, he chose to back in. As a result, he drove the semi-trailer tires over my driveway, tearing up the asphalt and creating a significant mess. I've had larger trucks deliver materials without any issues before, so this was unacceptable. I promptly reached out to Ewing, and the manager, Ricardo, told me to get a repair quote. I emphasized that we had a family event that weekend, and the damage was right at the entrance of my driveway. I remained calm and respectful, simply asking for them to do the right thing. Days passed, and my follow-up messages to Ricardo went unanswered. I gave him the benefit of the doubt due to the approaching weekend, but ultimately, I had to cover the $1,350 repair cost myself. When I finally heard back the following week, Ricardo informed me that his management didn't want to take responsibility for the damage their company caused. Incredible! There's a pattern with this shady company, see the photos attached of other unsatisfied customers that had their property damaged. If such damage occurred at their personal property, would they have simply brushed it off? Ewing is a greedy company with numerous locations. Save yourself the hassle--many other suppliers out there value customer service and accountability. Keep your business local!

Great local source of materials, wide variety available. Also quality landscaping tools.read more

Alex and his team did a fantastic job installing a simple concrete patio at our house. I solicited…read morehis services on Yelp after reading through his numerous positive reviews (and even the one or negative ones) to determine he was the right guy for the job. Alex was very responsive throughout the planning and execution process, and even oversaw the entire installation. His crew were dedicated and skilled workers who were very kind. Scope of the project included covering an existing concrete slab. Alex made sure to add 3-4 inch rebar dowels every 24 inches and wire mesh to give the new layer something finer to hold on to, in addition to the binding agent for a more firm fusion. We also paid extra for the 3,500 PSI rated concrete given the Texas heat. Further, he extended the sides of our driveway, replacing the paver stone and gravel with level concrete. This also included fixing part of the walkway that had been pushed up by Live Oak roots, which was a tripping hazard, and now forming a smooth transition. Alex was also great when it came to pricing. He was very transparent, and me not being a concrete guy, asked a good friend who's been a general contractor for 30+ years to review the proposal and methods, and follow the work, all of which he said was done expertly. I'd highly recommend Ace for your concrete needs.

I met Brent and his fellow woodworker some time back while I was making my debut at their sawmill!…read moreAll I was looking for was some sizable scraps so I could learn about some of the local lumber supply and teach myself how to pi-diddle with rough hewn materials before I went full-bore on more advanced lumber. I absolutely hit a vein directly of pure humane gold with these guys! They were so awesomely kindhearted and absolutely amazing craftsman who dealt patiently with my limited knowledge! They didn't have an ounce of pretense about themselves, their skills, or nothing, except for their inherent pride in the work they provide! These are everyday good people; hardworking, straight up and straight forward! I was so happy, impressed, and grateful for meeting and doing business with them that I even turned back around and brought them a six-pack of cold IPA beverages to help them end their day! I'm looking forward to seeing them again soon! BTW, they've got a massive collection of felled trees that came via Mother Nature's hands rather than having to harvest them from forests, or mega-brands, etc. Mighty impressive stuff! 5 jalapeños!

After pulling them from the ground and setting them aside, we realized we could see about repurposing them. Low and behold, Texas Urban Sawmill came out to our ranchette, loaded them onto their special truck, and hauled them off to Texas Urban Sawmill. As requested, they sliced each tree trunk longways in about 2 1/2 inch boards/slabs. They are BEAUTIFUL! After we let them airdry on our property for about two years (Devin explained every detail on how to do it) we are hoping to make some furniture, including a live-edge dining room table. If we find we are not skilled enough (we've never made one before) or just want a more professionally made table, we will definitely take a couple of the slabs back to Texas Urban Sawmill to have them make it. If you want your trees repurposed, be sure to call Devin and the Texas Urban Sawmill. He is very professional and easy to work with. He might even give you a tour of his "shop" including the huge sawmill. It is awesome!
