The routine and lessons have taught my daughter discipline, independence, and manners. She is in the Spanish-only class, which I feel is very important. She counts 1-15 in Spanish, knows all her basic colors, animals, and much more. She sings, dances, and is pretty much as happy as can be every single day. She loves her friends and visits the ones that have moved on to the bigger class. This is the best investment anyone can make for their kids. I've even been told multiple times that they are model students, and I know without a doubt it's because of the love, hard work, and dedication poured into them here. Beyond that, they were proactive about the individual care and progress of our children, and always kept us informed and involved. And they were always looking for ways to learn and improve as teachers. They care just as much as you do about making your children succeed. As for our children, they were able to learn so many things in a variety of ways, and they were very well prepared to handle the structure and rigors of traditional schooling once they left. But most importantly: they were very happy! They had a strong and understanding community, had opportunities to shine, and developed skills beyond your typical schooling. My partner and I toured SO MANY schools, big and small, near and far, Montessori, Reggio Emilio, Creative Curriculum, etc you name it, and WMM was way above the rest by a large margin. It was not only the most beautiful environment, but also the cleanest, calmest and most welcoming. It is magical and I am not exaggerating. I have read Montessori's 'The Absorbent Mind' and I felt that it was the one most in line with her teachings. The director of the school, Ms. Emily is on another level of human being,I don't know how she does it; she is a warm, kind, detailed, hardworking and flexible individual. (You can also tell she has a great eye for aesthetics and creating an ambience, from the moment you walk in the door.) She immediately made us feel at ease after that first visit. She radiates a serenity that reflects throughout her school. I wanted IN immediately, but there was a small waitlist, so we enrolled our daughter at another Montessori that paled in comparison, where after the first week she cried everyday. It was heartbreaking and I took her out promptly. Thankfully, the heavens opened and I received that email from Ms. Emily. It is true when I say that there was no adjustment period, my daughter went from not wanting to go to school, to asking to go to school, to seeing the building and clapping her hands with joy. But it isn't only Ms. Emily and the environment that makes this school so special, it is also all the other incredible staff of women that guide the children daily. Every morning, who ever opens the door is genuinely warm and always has a big smile on their face, my daughter walks right in and doesn't even look back to say bye (this is a good sign to me). Whether it be Ms. Millie with her big and warm hello or Ms. Mari or Ms. Marta or Ms. Lili everyone is equally amazing. Last but definitely not least is Ms. Lisette, my daughter's lead teacher. Every time she opens the door to greet us in the morning with her big and beautiful smile, my daughter is so freaking happy to see her that she runs straight into her arms, gives her a big hug and wants nothing more to do with me. I mean, can I ask for any more proof of the love and nurturing that is given to her by Ms. Lisette. It is not only her emotional needs that are being nurtured, but she is also learning so much. She does yoga and ballet at school and learns practical life and socials skills amongst other things. She comes home talking (as best as she can at her age) about Ms. Lisette and naming all her little classmates to me, she comes home with little projects and singing songs. She's just short of 2 but she can pretty much count to 10 and almost knows all her ABC's; her development has just taken leaps. In conclusion, I am so grateful to have found this gem that is WMM and that Ms. Emily welcomed us into her school. I was skeptical at first after being disappointed by a few tours as well as overwhelmed, however, the moment my husband and I walked inside, we both immediately glanced at each other amazed by how wonderfully welcoming it was. My initial amazement was its cleanliness and it smelled so wonderful! As a first time parent, this school met all of our needs. We enrolled our daughter at 19 months old and she adjusted within 3 days, with barely a tear! She now runs to the door and doesn't even look back. Ms. Emily is the director and the first person we met during the tour. She has the kindest eyes! She was welcoming and very thorough. She has done an incredible job and should be proud. I'm…read morein 9th grade (going into 10th now), and The Biltmore School left me severely underprepared for regular school life. Yes, the small hands on approach is definitely good for children with disabilities/developmental issues, however if you take a child without these difficulties and then put them into a regular school (public schools) your kids gonna have a lot of problems. The schools probably changed since my time attending, sure, however while I was there, it was even unsafe for kids with issues. An example of this would be with my cousin who also attended at the same time as me, who was autistic and low support needs. He was a victim of bullying, which got the a point where a student broke his arm. As for me, I didn't have these sorts of issues (I have ADHD but that's never effected my learning so I don't count it) and after I left The Biltmore, I was introduced to many different learning tools such as iready, IXL, ect. However, The Biltmore never taught me how to use these programs, and the larger classes of public schools meant that my teachers rarely offered me help with using these programs, leaving me to teach myself which made me struggle at the beginning of my education in public schools. To any parents thinking of sending your children here; DO NOT. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!!! As a former student, I'm begging you not to send your kids here, it was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life.
