Worst builders ever. Still fixing their screw ups on our "custom home". Their managers run too many jobs at once and overlook basic things that their subs don't care about. OCH is a big box builder building crappy homes and then putting a nice finish on it. Among the things that we caught before it was too late were no brick ties on the brick. Faulty wiring. Cheap OSB. Ran a beam thru a doorway then notched it to make it work. Floor is still not correct. AVOID THIS BUILDER or have them build you the cheapest version and remodel it immediately. read more

New home build in Falls of Prosper and Closed July 2021 Falls of Prosper- Very disappointed in the finishing experience. I feel like the only "Custom" benefit that sets OCH apart from the cookie cutter homebuilders is the ability to design your own floorplan. Attention to detail was lacking and I had to be the inspector and quality control to complete the finish out. We moved our closing date 3x to accommodate their schedule due to so many items unfinished and we finally closed July 12. This wasn't our first home build but it was our worst experience. Pre-close walk through, we, the home buyer, had to point out exterior doors not painted, drywall around windows unfinished, appliance not working, bricks missing in exterior wall, bricks separated from the mortar around 7 windows, our garage floors look like they were used as a paint and body shop, paint overspray and large chips in the concrete floor and I could go on. I had to email everyone in the company from owner, president, VP's, Supervisors etc to finally get any attention. I understand we were/are in a COVID environment, but all of our issues were due to very poor attention to detail and for a "Custom Home Builder", I am very surprised and disappointed. Update after being in the home about 6 months. I have noticed runs in the paint on the cabinets, pics, we have had 4 drawer slides have to be replaced due to the slides being painted by the builder, according to the cabinet builder, pics. Hinges are all painted on the cabinets, pics, and I'm not sure that is done in $200k homes much less a $850K "Custom Home". They used caulk in the showers/baths to cover the unfinished edge of the tile to match! Caulk is now peeling off, pics. Wall tile in the dark bath is not centred, pic, as it should be to prevent a really small piece having to be used in the corner. Definitely not an experienced person laid the tile in our home. Wall repair where the sheetrock was damaged on install and asked them to repair, pics. I think I could have done a better job. Numerous places around the home where there is paint overspray. Many other things but too much to list. My neighbor who has been in the build process for 18 months now, is experiencing the same inattention to detail and lack of work being done as we experienced in our build so I do not believe our experience is a one time occurrence. To consider themselves a "Custom Home Builder", I do not see custom quality work being performed in their homes. **UPDATE July 2022, 1 year and end of builder warranty period OCH does build a very pretty home and they do offer a lot of options, for a price, but I am disappointed with the quality of workmanship. When you look at their homes and your home when being built, you are a little overwhelmed and not paying attention to detail. I reported several warranty issues and they responded promptly but I'm frustrated that the issues with brick and mortar I was told it is caused by "heat shrinkage" and "settling" that is a homeowner fix, not warranty. 1 location around the door jam and 7 areas around windows. Pics included. The other items they are going to fix, but should not be broken within a year, are 2 more drawer slides broken (total of 8), texture on the ceiling cracking along the edge, door requires force to close completely, tile edge is rubbing off (second time), 2 toilets running, where the 2 garages meet on the roof, water runs down the brick and possibly behind the wall. the warranty department is terrible, I have talked to several people in warrintee including Dillon, Steve and Grant...for over 10 months now and nothing gets done, they ripped out our sprinkling system while trying to fix the drainage problem and still have not come back to fix it, there is drainage issues in the whole subdivision and they have just put up ugly black plastic fence, very temporary fix for a permanent problem...no one will call you back or answer your calls we have been here almost a years and I have text them weekly and I never get a response from them and nothing is getting fixed. read more

We had issues with every trade and even as non-construction professionals we could see glaring mistakes at every step. Order or subs coming was completely out of order. To many people only leave reviews when they are upset. I have probably reviewed less than five companies in my many days, and can't miss the opportunity to give Our Country Homes and, specifically Jonathan from their Warranty Dept, a HUGE shout out. I purchased my OCA home 5 years ago. A roof leak caused significant damage to the wood floors in my office. Whether or not my roof was still covered by the warranty, I'll never know; because Jonathan and OCA didn't bat an eye. It was evident from the first phone call that they would stand by their work no matter what. Throughout this process, Jonathan has been awesome. Responsive, professional, courteous, bias for action, thorough, and other superlatives I'm missing describe Jonathan. I never waited more than a few minutes for a response. They installed my floors two weeks ago and finished them last Fri and Sat. With only the trim remaining, I called today (Mon) and asked if we could possibly get it knocked out today. They were at my house within two hours and knocked it out of the park. All of the people they sent to assess the damage and do the repairs were great also. I don't plan on selling or moving. If I do, I will only work with OCA. Fun fact...when I told my insurance adjustor that my builder was covering the damage, he asked in a surprised voice, "Who is your builder?" When I told him OCA, he just said "Oh yeah, you're in great hands." I agree! Thank you, Jonathan and OCA. Referrals for life! read more

The most basic things were incorrect--the island was measured incorrectly, the kitchen cabinets were hung crookedly on the wall, the backyard was not graded correctly, the dining room had no lights, paint was all over the trim and the floor and the foundation had to re-done. Do not use Our Country Homes! They did not use any brick ties higher than 6' and the WIND knocked the bricks off the top gable of our home one month after the construction was completed. This could have killed someone. At this point it has been 6 months and they still have not resolved the issue with not having brick ties. OCH did have an inspector out that used a metal detector to confirm the brick ties were not installed, but they have done nothing to fix it. If you built a home with OCH I would recommend that you pay $200 to have someone come out and inspect the house for brick ties, if they fall which at some point they will the house will be damaged and it could seriously injure someone. We built a custom home with them on our lot and this was just one of the items from a list of issues. DO NOT BUILD WITH OUR COUNTRY HOMES IT WAS A NIGHTMARE! read more

WARNING! Do NOT buy or have a house build by these builder. We used them and the sales person which we trusted at first gave all the information we wanted to hear. Twenty months later they are still working on my house. The sales person Tori lied to use and even changed our designed. Without really think she we could do the we signoff on our drawing. Later we find out she made ours rooms smaller n bathroom by two feet. After asking her she denied everything. She removed my cabinets that are next to the fridge telling me i had gone over the amount allowed. So she just removed from drawing. I told her to put them back bc i was going to pay the difference. The also screwed my fireplace up n we also had to pay the difference to get it fixed. You can fight n fight with them like we did with the VP of sales name Brian n it does not matter bc what they do is hold up on your home n it will sit there until you pay up or they do nothing. Bc they don't think they screw up it's all your fault. Our home was supposed to be a custom home but turned out to be a home what they think it should be. So Record every conversation you have with them from the start. They will nickel n dime you to death. Tori just looks out for commission. read more

I am a realtor so I do think my opinion counts for a little more based on the number of new homes I have sold over the years. I have worked with builders that are very high end to builders that are very low end but there are almost always issues along the way regardless of the level. Not this time. BY FAR this was the very best experience ever!! The experience was so great that I felt compelled to write a review ( ordinarily I don't do this) From start to finish Our Country Homes ( Marina, Steven, Nathan etc) overdelivered. We entranced a custom home 10 months ago to the day and were told we would be ready to close in 10-11 months. With a lot of builders that generally means about 11 and a half - 12 months. Every single thing they said or promised was done as they had said. We had a Third Party inspection done and nothing came back as deficient. Im not kidding when I tell you it was perfect. Every little detail was managed and relayed to non only my clients, but to me as well. Often. times the agents get left out of the loop which can create large issues later on. These guys went above and beyond for my clients. Any day of the week at any time if we needed to reach someone we could. Marina , Steven and Nathan (Cindy too) were available any time we needed anything. I really cannot explain to you how great of an experience the whole process was. This was my second home built with our country homes . This one was in Tanners Mill in Prosper but I also had another client who built with them in Lucas as well. This particular client is one that is VERY hard to please and she had not one complaint either! Both homes came out beautifully and both transactions were flawless. I can honestly say that the next time I build a home I will absolutely build it with OCH. I would absolutely recommend building or buying a home with this company. Greedy & Unprofessional! Our Country Homes offered lots on a "first come first served" basis at the end of October. People stood in line for hours to put down their deposit to reserve a lot and select a tentative floorplan only to have the company turn around and sell them out from under us to another builder and cancel all the reservations! I was told this was a financial decision so the investors could cash in and get their money quicker. Great for the investors, but what a crappy way to treat people who put their trust and hopes for a new build in your company! You wasted everyone's time and money on your little scheme, and I believe it was all a ploy to drive up the lot prices because after that very first day of taking reservations, they raised the prices by $20,000! Another client and I reserved lots on the first day at one price and another client was quoted an additional $20k for the lot next door the following day! Just pure greed and disregard for the people who are trying to be your customers! If this is an example of their dishonest practices, I can't imagine what the actual building process would be like! We were lucky to find out before we got too far down the road. I really hope people will think twice about doing business with this company. Integrity matters - even in business. read more

Unfortunately, we continue to struggle with OCH. Hoped things would have changed but sadly they haven't. As other reviewers have said, warranty dept is awful. Submitted ticket on simple matters and almost 2 mos. later, nobody has come to do repairs. An interesting fact, because of all the serious issues we raised during the home construction, OCH hired a lawyer to attend our final walkthrough!!! Talk about knowing they had messed up and were concerned. Also interesting - They filed a lien on our home only a few days after they provided the required paperwork to demand final payment. Does that sound like good faith dealing? Their own lawyer said that our repair issues should be addressed during the warranty period, which was a sham because as soon as we raised it during warranty, they said "NO". It's unfortunate to have to say that they do not do what they say they will do. They may build a nice-looking home but quality is out the door. Customer service not their priority. I would highly recommend to anyone buying from OCH to hire a professional inspector during and after construction and to be on-guard. Be represented by an attorney. read more

I can't believe how bad it's been. The entire process from beginning to end has been a nightmare! This is my fifth home so I am talking from experience. If I could turn back time and undo this decision, I would. Everything from grading to tiling is a disaster. Don't hold out hope for your warranty to be worth anything because they will not honor it. I have appliances that have't worked since I moved in, tile that is so bad that it will have to be replaced, wood flooring with gaps, dead trees, grading that floods, bricks that are broken, the single worst paint job I have ever seen. The cabinet company they use is one of the worst I've ever seen. The cabinets are poorly made some of them don't even have inside backs to them, the drawers don't open and on and on. I will be contacting a lawyer about any recourse I may have. If there is a class action law suit against this builder I will be joining it. Do not hesitate to walk away from them even if you have money already on the table. read more

I am 7 months pregnant and my husband and I bought our brand new home in The Resort in Fort Worth in June. We noticed coincidentally there was water seeping by through the brick and foundation motor on the exterior wall of our home while we were watering our foundation in late July. Since our home is brand new construction we have an active warranty service with the builder. We alerted them to the finding the next day and submitted a warranty ticket 8/1/2018. Demolition was shortly after been performed of the master shower that reveled that during construction a nail had been shot through the shower water line. So evidently every time we have turned on our shower since June 1st water has been leaking inside the walls of our brand new home. Mold became obviously a concern given the timeline and the fact that I am pregnant. We performed our own mold test which results indicated we in fact had mold and two of the types are considered class A hazards. The builders response time was prompt initially but then it became negligent. They hired a company called Service master pro to come in and finish removing any material that had been affected by the water leak. Which was not done thoroughly at all. We were told they would sanitize the area and clean it with the proper mold removal chemicals. This was not done. The company no showed for services we stayed home from work twice for. My husband and I had a vacation planned and we expected the reconstruction of our bathroom to commence once we returned. It did not. The following week we finally have a schedule of construction, but the mold had not been addressed yet. The builder then set up a mold test of their own. Which I have the results of, but yet no one is able to tell me what they mean. I have looked up all of these molds as well but was instructed to "have my doctor review the results with me because I am pregnant". She only indicated to me over the phone that she "recommended the areas be treated because there was more mold there than she would like to see". Unfortunately the builder still neglected to treat the mold effected areas and had the service master pro company bring in an air scrubber. Which is basically a large sized air purifier. This does not treat mold. It cleans the air. No one ever came back to treat the mold. Then reconstruction of our shower began the following week. Now we are unsure of the status of the mold since it is covered up behind tile. The construction that has been performed is not up to our standards as we have a brand new house. This has been a patch job. We are also discouraged that now with expecting a newborn we are unsure of how safe our home is and resell value will be effected down the road if and when we decide to sell as we will have to disclose that there has been water damage and we really can not say that the mold was treated. The builder has been disrespectful of our time and has not addressed an issue that poses a serious health concern for our family and effects the resell value of our home. read more

Once you enter the facility they ask you to fill out a form and then provide you a brochure with no explanation about the facility and what is available. As potential customers you are one your own. Even the brochures has minimalistic info, no where you would be able to find out the house price. First time entering this facility it will be my last time as well. read more

BUY OUR COUNTRY HOME IF YOU WANT A FIXER UPPER! My wife and I relocated to the DFW and in the market for a home we shopped around and felt that Our Country Homes built a nice product. We were initially treated like family and the sales staff was very friendly. We signed a contract with them in March and then we really found out about this builder. Pouring the foundation just before Memorial Day weekend; workers stepped on the tension cables during the pour, when cables were tensioned, big chunks of concrete blew out. Dustin Austin assured me that this would be repaired and I had insisted on an extended warranty on the foundation and that the garage floor would be epoxy coated as well as tile on the outer living area porch. To make a long story shorter, we have experienced incomplete concrete work, paint spatter on tile and wood floors, cabinet not built to spec (Legendary Cabinets), roof leaks, very poor sod installation (Garden Design), scratched sinks, electrical breakers tripping (Fox Electric), and irrigation leaks (Riverside Irrigation). It has been our experience this builder cannot get a contractor to do a job right the first time. There were many times the same task was attempted more than 3 times before getting things right. (Example coming to job site with trim boards already too short) After taking this matter to JP Court our case was dismissed because of clause 25 in contract that builder must be given right to make repairs. We made numerous attempts to have Our Country Homes make the repairs but they ignored our phone calls and our request for repair on Our Country Homes website. I ended up fixing our driveway as it was left incomplete. Dustin Austin called North Richland Hills inspection office and reported that I was doing work without a permit. We did have permission to make repairs and ignored work stoppage citation again after confirming with city. I have spent more than more than two thousand dollars repairing the sod that was so poorly installed and I even have a commitment from Garden Design that they would take care of it, which they did not. My suggestion is if you buy from Our Country Homes, leave roughly $30K in escrow for 6 months to ensure you have the leverage to get Our Country Homes to make the repairs. Obliviously their word means nothing as we experienced. Better yet find a different builder! None of this is slander as it is all true facts we have experienced. read more

Have started this process a year ago in July...House still not complete yet..Like the fact that you are able to custom build however it comes at a cost and that is this builder takes way too long to complete a house. Took 6 months before foundation was poured from beginning of contract. They seem to be spread thin and do not have subcontractors lined up in time. We will be having to extend our rental another month from a year lease now and this just cost me another few thousand dollars. I do like certain aspects of the company and I do think they build a quality home for the most part but they do lack leadership and organization. read more
