I went with the jalapeño bacon burger, and it absolutely delivered. Juicy, flavorful, with just the right kick from the jalapeños without overpowering everything else. It came with tater tots that were crispy and did the job--nothing fancy, but definitely satisfying. We also split an appetizer of three meatballs, and honestly, those might've been the sleeper hit. Really well seasoned and cooked just right. My buddy ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and had zero complaints he cleaned his plate, which says enough. Overall, it's the kind of place you go for good, no nonsense food in a relaxed atmosphere. definitely somewhere I'd come back to when I'm craving a solid burger and a chill vibe.

Hoops is such a good bar/restaurant and with the owners recently taking over, I felt like that would be a plus but I was disappointed. The food was fine (I had blackened shrimp and some tater tots) but the service was totally disinterested. The waitress was definitely more interested in what I assume was a gentleman regular so we were definitely an afterthought. There is a difference between a dive bar and a filthy one and, unfortunately, O'Dollys was the latter with sticky floors and disgusting bathrooms. I'm not sure I'll be back.

After seeing some vehicles parked up front I thought the place would have some people in here but, it was just me and one other patron that sat at the bar. Guess it was just a slow day, who knows. I was greeted by one of the employees who I later find out is one of the owners took both my food and drink order. They do have their own signature cocktails and I did have one of them called Coaches Lemonade. The best way to describe that one is the adult version of the lemonade. Also, had the Bacardi Punch. Both drinks were good but, I highly recommend Coaches Lemonade. For their food, I ordered cheese sticks and wings. The cheese sticks were great but, I wasn't big on the marinara sauce. The wings were also good. I got the mild flavor and although it was very good, it had a kick that I wasn't expecting. During my visit one of the owners, Ronnie is his name checked up on me and asked how everything thing was. He made my visit here better than expected, even made me feel right at home. I will be back here.

I'm not sure that I even want you to know about this place because it's the kind of bar that you…read morewant to stay exactly the way it is and NOT change one bit. I learned of this bar last fall when my dad and I threw a co-birthday party (he turned 70 and of course I was turning 21 for the 20th time, ha!) and since it's his favorite neighborhood watering hole we decided to host it there. All I can say is I have zero regrets! First of all, the folks that work here are very nice and while they obviously know whether you're a regular or not...they welcome you and treat you kindly either way. The drink prices are hard to beat too! They might not have the fanciest beverages in town but if you can't find something to sip on here then I think you should just stay home. Ok, here's the part I'd rather not tell you about but I guess I will just to give more props to Old Rascals. They have karaoke on 2 nights every week. Yep!! And the karaoke dude, Steve, is truly a gem! He's super nice and makes you feel like you're part of the family. I'm serious. I mean I feel like I'm ready for American Idol based on his complimentary reactions to my performances. Oh, and even if there is a long list of singers (which there often is), he is fair with the rotation. What a nice relief for a karaoke bar, AMIRIGHT?!? The catalog of songs is basically infinite as far as I can tell, and if he doesn't know a song he'll let you help him search for it...because he wants YOU TO BE HAPPY! There are 2 microphones for your use, one of which is wireless. He even brings cleaning wipes in case you're a bit of germ-a-phobe and want to clean the mic off for your turn. Of course, if you aren't into karaoke it's still a chill little spot to pop into for a drink or two when you're not trying to go wild on the nightlife scene. Everyone who hangs out here is friendly. And I don't mean fake smile, nosy ass neighbor type vibes...I mean genuine humans who are just happy to be there and glad to welcome you to their bar too. I cannot believe I've only just now found my new (not in my) neighborhood bar after all these years. My dad really held out on sharing this one. I love this place! PRO TIP: Do not show up here trying to be a total hipster, expecting something trendy, and/or looking for any bar drama. Old Rascals doesn't throw that type of party. You're welcome for sharing this Louisville secret with you. Now don't tell anyone else. :)

The place was not crowded at all, which was nice, because it gave us a chance to really see what it has to offer. I was the only female in the place that night, so I am guessing the men to women ratio is high ;) When you walk in you will be surprised to see how clean this place is! The bartender was so friendly and made me feel welcome. They have 2 dart boards and a shuffle board/bowling machine, which was really fun. Friday and Saturdays is karaoke, and another night of the week, I believe Tuesday is trivia night. If you play Keno they also have that. This is a neighborhood bar where they treat you like a friend and you can get a cheap beer. I am going back to check out karaoke this weekend.

Sure enough it did. Located in the Iroquois shopping center next to the Vietnamese restaurant sits this bar. I did come here a few times when it was named the Peppermint Lounge but back years ago it seemed when me and a friend came here, Patrons were either served too much alcohol or there was a fight just about every time we came here so that's why I stopped going even though there were a few good people here I didn't want to be around that mess and stopped coming however, that wasn't the case last night, there were no fights or overly intoxicated patrons. I was very impressed. The bathroom was my first visit, there is a women's and a men's bathroom but, they have single toilets in the bathrooms which was fine with me. Bathroom was very clean and didn't smell bad. The establishment itself was also clean and very well lit and not dark like a lot of dive bars. Next up, sit at the bar and greeted by a friendly bartender, only did 2 shots and was offered a coke to chase them with. The 2 shots didn't cost very much and I did leave a generous tip. I did stick around for the Karaoke which was entertaining. I didn't stay very long this visit because I was just checking the place out to see if it had changed since going under a new name. And I will say it has changed since the Peppermint days. This is not a place I would go to all the time but I do plan on returning at some point in time. If you are ever looking for reasonably priced drinks and good karaoke then this is the place for you. Good job guys I'm impressed with the changes.

Some of us parked at the park and walked over, some parked at the restaurant, and some parked at the bank parking lot across the street (photo with this review shows signage with the posted hours of allowed parking access). Our party of 6 was immediately seated at 5:30 PM without a reservation. Restaurant had a light crowd at first, but was almost filled to capacity by the time we left at 7 PM. Since this is "Wing Week" in Louisville, I opted to try the special 6 piece cherry bourbon wing option. No sides came with this, so I opted to order an add on of broccoli salad. The wings were okay, just wish they'd been cooked perhaps a tad bit longer to add to the crispy instead of flabby texture. Sauce was decent. The broccoli salad was good with the standard ingredients of bits of bacon and raisins mixed in. I also had an Against the Grain draft beer, which was refreshing and paired well with the wings. My fellow diners also had wings, burgers, and salads as well as various draft beers. Each person was fairly satisfied. Waitstaff were fine, but a few missteps were made with orders. However, these were corrected quickly. Further training for the food runner would also be helpful since she attempted to reach across 2 diners several times to drop off orders instead of taking 2-3 steps around the table to hand things off directly. We had a couple of close calls with dishes being passed down the table because of this and the idea did not seem to intuitively occur to her. Great pre-show dining option close to the Ampitheater for events.
