The food is beyond flavourful, it's balanced, expertly prepared and strong. Every dish is surprisingly better than the one before, in the end it's impossible to choose between favourites. We ordered two four-course menus (for a reasonable price), and did ourselves right in choosing two completely different roads. We had a taste of nearly half their options, and are already planning to go back with four instead of two. I would take the time to write what options you should choose, but I suggest just going there and see for yourselves. I think it might be recommended to call for a reservation beforehand, as I can imagine it can get quite busy in the weekends. DO NOT SKIP DESSERT.

In the end had we one of the best gastronomic visits for years. Mevrouw Meijer can handle the whole package; well-componed menu, great service, great food (well prepared and high-quality groceries), friendly environment. They were very well staffed: more chefs and waiters than they actually needed even though the house was full. No need for waiting particularly long for either food or service. The chef came out from the kitchen and talked to us about the sauce. We where very satisfied when we walked from the restaurant and will definitely highly recommend this place to all of our friends. 34 Euros for a 3-course dinner is very well worth it at Mevrouw Meijer.

Tables are put very close so need some adjustments with how you can fit your body accordingly , but it is very cozy. I liked it. We drank two beers and enjoyed vegetarian bitterballen with it. Their menu has a lot of options to select from which is great and a reason for multiple visits. Anywho, bitterballen was good. As per beer, my partner chose De Koninck Bolleke and I went for Sijf's Eigen. We both loved our own choices and couldn't agree on which was better! I loved Eigen's smell and the way the bitterness of the beer slowly became sweeter. Definitely going for more in coming days. De Koninck Bolleke has a 'jumping' feel to it. I could smell barley (hop, malt) and sensation of bubbles in your tongue like when we drink soda was refreshing. But I still preferred Eigen. Recommended! (You might have to wait a little longer for the service, though!)

Not in the mood for trendy, Dutch comfort good was my goal. SCORE! !!!! The roast chicken, juicy teeder, well marinade and prepared, served with a dish of raw veggies slightly pickles in piquant sweet and sour red onion dressing. Crispy crunchy hot fresh chips, a cup of warm jus to round out my plate. Endless chips, desk clerk said spareribs to die for. May have to go back? ????? Would it be impolite, to eat ribs on a train ?

Rule number two: there is no menu apart from a 3 course dinner with a choice in starters, mains and desserts. Welcome to Restaurant Zinc's dinner party where everybody is a friend. Known for their French cuisine but without that high and mighty attitude. Zinc staff have created a relaxed atmosphere where you will eat and feast for a modest price. The place could well be the result of a long journey abroad. Along the way they picked up pots, pans, eclectic furniture and above all inspiration for memorable recipes. Could this journey have stretched as far as the Caribbean as some dishes definitely have a flavour of this continent. You are in luck if mashed potato is on the menu. The mash comes from another planet and you will be sorely temped to pick up your plate and walk into the kitchen for a second helping. Do not fret. These are generous portions and the chef will happily drop another spoonful on your plate without asking. Yes, this little bistro is in a little corner of Rotterdam in an area that could well function as your own French hide-a-way and it so happens that they have joined the 32,50 Club which makes this place even more worth checking out!
