At Heathrow Airport (London), on our outward journey from the UK, an arm fell off my spectacles. Although sufficient for playing prop forward in the dark places of rugby, my eyesight is limited without them. I had forgotten to pack my spare spectacles. So, we did what any sensible tourists would do: we asked AI on my iPhone to identify the most highly rated optician in close walking distance from Roma Termini. The AI was very accurate. While my wife and I enjoyed a light lunch at the café-bar next door, the charming ladies successfully replaced both spectacle arms so that our holiday could continue and my ability to see could be resumed. It took them less than an hour. The price of the emergency repair was a fraction of what it might have been charged in the UK. The charm quotient was rather greater. Excellent opticians. There was also a very jolly little dog called Pongo. And, as one of the lovely ladies had been romantically connected to Marzio Innocenti, the former Presidente della Federazione Italiana Rugby and Italian international back row, it wasn't just a positive experience, it offered heightened conversational interest in my patchy French and some English. What I like about it as that he was willing to bargain and he sold the glasses to me at 38% discount and I knew that I am getting a bargain compare to USA prices. The selection is limited but all the sun glasses are very nice and high end brands. The store is about three minutes walk to Fontana Di Trevi and right in front of a great restaurant called "That's Amore".
