Do not hire this contractor. He was hired in February 2021, started the projected, completed approximately half the work, and then has not answered me in 3 months. He has not answered his phone; call or text, nor has he answered an email despite his social media showing he is doing more jobs. He currently owes me thousands of dollars in refunds, despite him choosing not to complete the work. All reviews on this profile are either from pressuring his clients, and written by the owner. read more

I hired Aurelio to replace a sliding patio door with a single door and complete a small renovation on my kitchen (counter/backsplash). As other customers have mentioned, we paid 70% upfront for him to purchase the materials etc needed for the job. After one day of work, Aurelio asked for the remainder of the payment. I refused and he said he has "been burned" too many times so he always get paid upfront. I agreed to pay him an additional 10% to continue the work and told him at this point he has thousands of dollars of my "trust". Aurelio gets upset if you ask him questions (in his words "we paid him so we don't have to ask any questions" because he is the expert). I have never had someone speak to me the way he does. His disrespect is palpable. He called while my dog was having an xray taken and we were still talking when the vet (@bigbadvet) came back into the room. He motioned that I could finish talking while he waited, and reviewed her xray on the computer. When the conversation was over, he said, "I cannot imagine ever speaking to someone the way he spoke to you. I am impressed you were able to stay so calm and polite". I felt validated because Aurelio gaslights you into thinking that he's not being as rude as he is. Aurelio's "full day of work" is approximately 3-4 hours. He is a one-man show who will occasionally bring a companion with him (if help is needed, such as lifting a door), but it is clear they are his helper (aka. a teenage boy). There is no "Rick L" from senior management as the responses on his google reviews alludes. It is 100% him. Aurelio installed about two feet of backsplash and I pointed out all the areas where the tiling was uneven, or even badly chipped (around the light switch). He claimed that the tile I chose (he made it seem like I was dead set on this tile when in reality it was one of the options he presented to me) was delicate and difficult to cut. He said I was being picky because I have watched too many home renovation shows. His exact words were - "I would like to see you do a better job". He installed my backsplash through a light switch because "I never told him to go under/over it". He then blamed me for the light switch because I "should have really moved it before he started". My husband and I both work from home - if he encountered this issue it would have taken him 2 seconds to say, "Hey, you're not going to be able to put a cover over this light switch if I go through it, did you want me to go over/under?". How could a seemingly experienced contractor not foresee this issue? He will claim I asked him to go straight with the cabinets. In actuality, he said he would and I said sure - not knowing there would be an issue! This is what you pay a contractor for - their experience. Aurelio placed blame on us for any and all issues with his work. More than a month after starting my project, and after delaying his "final day of work" from Thursday to Friday to Monday, Aurelio then refused to finish the work remaining on our contract UNLESS I SIGNED A NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT that prevented me from leaving an HONEST review of his work. Look at these pictures - this is not an experienced tiler. He either doesn't have the experience, or just doesn't care. Either way - hire someone else. He cut half the tiles beside my fridge and then just gave up (and no, it's not covered by the fridge). Take a good look at his uneven cuts at the top. Our kitchen looks like a DYI instead of professional work. I'm certain he will claim this review, like the others, is false but from my experience it seems like the reverse. The 5 star reviews fooled me into hiring this guy, and I have learned a very hard lesson. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will prove to you that I am indeed a very real and very reasonable person who made a poor choice hiring this "company" (aka one-man show). read more

Because our renovations started started right before the COVID pandemic , we could have been stuck in a pretty bad situation with our renovations being half done. But during these uncertain times Aurelio continued to work and took all the proper precautions and was hygenic and sanitary, to make sure we were comfortable. He was flexible with our schedules and we coordinated to make sure we were not in the house when he was so he could do the work comfortably. This helped reduce the stress during these times to get our bathroom renovations done. The quality of work was very good and and we are happy with the work that was done. read more

We hired this company to do our basement renovation. After taking all the money (estimated CAD 75,000.00) to secure all the building and finishing materials the owner only did the framing, drywall and one coat of paint. The bathroom is not finished, there is no subflooring, no vinyl flooring, no carpet for the stairs, no baseboards, no railing and no vents. We paid for 6 doors but the owner only brought 1 door for the washroom without the trims and casings. There are no storage or shelves, no cover for the water main and no electrical panel cover. Some of the electrical power switches don't have covers. The bathroom exhaust fan stopped working. The tv projector he promised was not delivered or installed, all basement windows are left undone and a lot more. Ottawa Home Renovations abandoned the contract and left us with terrible defects and serious repairs were needed. The owner did not deliver the materials and the quality work we were promised. Do not believe all the promises and low prices given by this owner. The owner will ask for more money. Red flag!!! The the owner has the audacity to try to force us to sign the NDA to silence us so we don't say anything bad about them. The company's website is very misleading. The owner is not competent and is not able to do the construction and the basement renovation himself. It would be better if he hired professional tradesmen to work for him rather than doing the work himself and getting another person to cover for him who is also not professionally trained. The owner refused to produce the receipt for all the payments we made. I can not recommend this company. read more

I hired this company to do landscaping in my backyard and around my pool. They were very unprofessional. I gave the owner access to my house to do some electrical and to use the downstairs bathroom as he was on site for a month. The owner took it upon himself to use my, vacuum, fan, rags, etc from my house. He stole a case of beer from me. My neighbour told me that his crew were at my house alone most days as the owner was not present and one of his employees showed up drunk and threw up on my front lawn. The owner broke two garden hoses and refused to pay for them. He put an arc in the bull nose pavers that go around the pool and blamed it on the pool walls being bowed. The pavers were put down improperly, most of them rock and are un-even. The gate he built is crooked and the door is not flush. He did not use sauna tubes he just poured the cement into the dirt hole. I had no choice but to let this company go. My complete kitchen remodel was handled seamlessly within 2 months from our first initial meeting and all from in our own home!! This past summer we had a disaster: a rainstorm soaked the floor and the wall under the window in…read moreour basement guest room. Even worse, it happened days before we were scheduled to leave for a long-awaited trip to see extended family. We really didn't want to miss it. Fortunately we knew this was a good contractor as they had done some excellent work for us previously. These guys came right away and got to work. We left on schedule. They ran tests and identified the type of mold present in the wall. Unfortunately moisture had been seeping in and/or condensing in all the foundation walls for some time, they discovered. They removed the mold and got the proper machines to dry and decontaminate the place. We decided to redo just about the whole basement, if they were up for it, and they were. They added various measures to prevent any future mold and improve energy efficiency, like waterproof insulation and regrading outside. And they added an egress window, backflow valve, some nice pot lights, and beautiful laminate flooring. All the work was completed promptly and to a high degree of quality. We are very happy with our basement and would not hesitate to recommend Forever Kitchens as a contractor.

This business makes custom wood furniture, but also has courses on woodworking and allows you to make use of their extensive selection of power and hand tools by purchasing block of time. e.g. 10 hours of time in the workshop for $150. You are required to take a training course for each of the power tools before you can use them, and the cost is $20 per course. I've taken several and found every course to be helpful, both int terms of learning how to use the tools safely but also to get a sense of the best ways to use them. There is even a laser cutter which can be used for project such as engraving . 16+ for hand tools and 18+ for power tools. I took one course on making a wooden cutting board and would highly recommend their courses for anyone that wants to give woodworking a try They are within about two minutes walk of a specialty lumber store called KJP Select Hardwoods which is quite convenient.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Great experience. Had a gas fitter…read morecome and cap our gas line and an electrician come to set up a 240V outlet when we switched from a gas range to an electric one. The Long Version: When my husband and I bought our house, it came with a gas range. Having grown up with electric, I was really hesitant to keep it and wanted to switch to electric, but I eventually got used to it and we kept it. Not too long ago, the oven bit the dust and stopped working. The elements still worked but I need my oven! So at this point we decided to switch to electric. We needed someone to cap the gas line and install a 240V outlet for the new range. Francis Home Environment was great because they offered both services. We had 2 different technicians of course, but they were both from the same company who coordinated their work. My husband dealt with the technicians and I got to benefit from the results, lol. Terry came in the morning to cap the gas line. He was great. He checked the line in the basement too. Then David came in the afternoon to do the electrical work. He pointed out that the previous owners did not do some electrical work properly and we had live wires just taped up behind our range. We could have gotten electrocuted all these years! Omg! David fixed things up and now we have a new 240V outlet and no live wires just hanging out with their ends taped. Both technicians were courteous, professional and efficient. I liked that they came during their scheduled time window and my husband got a text when they were on their way and he could track their location on his phone. They wore shoe covers in the house as not to dirty the floors. Their price was on the higher end, but we were happy with the whole process from start to finish. This company is NOT Accredited with BBB or associated/partnered with Baeumler Approved. This review is a warning to anyone who has plans to invest money into a home renovation with this company. Do not disregard any of the other 1 star reviews. I am well aware I will be attacked on here by the owner of this unprofessional company (don't let his email claiming to have a team of employees fool you). I have read his rebuttals and any company that talks like that about their former clients should be your first hint not to hire him (sorry his team). Second hint of his willingness to pull the wool over your eyes is to have clients write reviews (pressured) about how he (sorry again - his team) is doing with the renovation. Let me tell you this, he gave me the skeleton on what he wanted written in the reviews, and as my review he pressured me to write only after a week on site was complimentary it by no means paints the whole picture of his techniques he uses to fool a client. Third hint on his deceitfulness is the use of his app for estimates. The contract app he changes continually to suit his needs and never has you sign any updated copies. Any changed copies are overwritten and NO prior estimates are available. If you have unfortunately hired this person (sorry I keep forgetting he has a team working for him) ensure you print the estimate and check continuously if he has changed it. In the end after he realizes the client has caught on to his deceit he deletes the estimate and thus you cannot get a copy of it. I hope you as a potential client is starting to see a pattern with this person (company). Fourth hint (to note these hints are what I have experienced and are not made up). His timelines: in his ever changing estimate app one part always remains - his guarantee(s). He never strived to meet any of them. He was never here from 7am - 4pm (he work from at the earliest 10am and was usually done at 2pm), he did not provide a DETAILED work order, he says building and finishing material are included, he will personally be here every day (most was 3 times one week) of the renovation and that he will have work done by a certain date (3-4 weeks turned into approx 12 weeks). I have more hints I could describe here but I will let him (company) reply with his scathing comments on how ungrateful yet another client was. On how to disregard my comments as false and made up. Once he does his usual song and dance I will provide you with more details on how he completely botched my kitchen renovation and pocketed money for an incomplete, unprofessional, substandard, subpar attempt at a renovation. How he likes to blame anything that he finds to hard to do on the previous builder or more likely than not the client. Please again potential client of this company do take heed on what I have written this is just a small portion of what this person (company) has put myself, my family and other clients through. One final point on this review before his attempts to tell you I am not a real person or I took advantage of him is that I hired him also due to the fact he states he is partnered and approved with a well-known contractor's company on his websites. Please do not be fooled by this inclusion on his websites. He is not partnered, associated or approved by that company. False advertisement is a sign of this person's willingness to deceive the public. Now I am sure you will be entertained with the company's reply to my review. Work included: Interior painting (main floor through to the second floor landing), cutting and installing an entry door to the garage, and adding mirror closet doors in the foyer where there were previously no doors. I requested quotes from multiple contractors and it was difficult to (a) get a response in a timely manner, or (b) get a response at all in some cases. Aurelio responded quickly to my first email and every email since, which was the first thing that enticed me to go with his company. The quote for everything was consistent with or better than estimates from other contractors/companies for the respective work so I was assured that pricing is fair, and I've REALLY appreciated his efforts to keep the costs as close to the original quote as reasonably possible, especially as a single parent trying to stay within budget. He and his colleague, Abraham, are friendly and a pleasure to have on-site. My project is targeted to be finished next week and I'm very excited to see it fully completed! We started looking to fix up our house exterior by getting a few estimates from various companies. Aside from his considerable knowledge and experience, one key factor that impressed us from the start was how responsive Aurelio was to our enquiries - he always got back to us right away consistently. This wasn't the case with my other providers. We are very happy to have chosen the Ottawa Home Renovations and Landscape Design team to help us with our home exterior. Not only did they do what discussed, they went above and beyond with creative suggestions and approaches. They always factored long term considerations for the work involved. From day one, the team worked very efficiently and it was easy for us to measure the progress as so much work was done each day. This left us feeling excited to see all the improvements done when we got home from work. They were able to leverage new and some of existing materials to get us great results. I hired this company in February 2021 to renovate my bathroom...and had to fire them I now have to figure out how to fix a creaking bathtub, unleveled floor and shower tiles, and very messy grout lines. The shower niche was not waterproofed and is not centered on the wall. The bathroom needs to be demolished and put back together once more. I am not a picky customer, but I paid very good money for a renovation job which produced less than satisfactory results. This company also put a lot of pressure on me to provide the final 12% payment and to write a good review BEFORE the job was even completed. In summary, this company botched the job and didn't know how to fix it. PS. their plumber and electrician are not licensed, their HST number does not appear on my contract, and the "Corporation" is not listed in the provincial or federal business registry. Furthermore, the insurance slip they provided does not match the company name. RED FLAGS!!! read more

I have had the unfortunate experience of hiring this supposed contractor. He is not worth your time and money. I have worked on projects he he fails miserably at the Project Management triangle. He is not on TIME, he is not on SCOPE, and he is definitely not on with COST. I am sure he doesn't understand this concept as he continually misleads the client. I have searched and just reach my discovered contrary to his misrepresentation of being accredited. He IS NOT accredited with BBB. He has been suspended. He is not partnered with Baeumler Approved as they revoked his membership. This is a company (one person company at that) you must STAY CLEAR of. read more

Aurelio came through in a pinch for us this weekend. We needed to have someone help us with removing some drywall and checking behind the wall due to mice activity so that our kitchen cabinet installation would continue. Aurelio was professional, walked me through what he would do for us and checked to ensure that all gaps were closed off so mice access would be blocked off. Do not hire this contractor. He has been suspended by the BBB for improper business practices. The "Baeumler Approved" website has removed him and IS NOT partnered with the contractor. These are just some of the reasons not to hire him. Others include being unprofessional, unreliable, untrustworthy and subpar quality of work. It only took them 5 days to remodel my bathroom! Ottawa Home Renovations & Landscape Design was called to estimate my plans for a bathroom renovation in 2014. They worked all day from morning to afternoon. It only took them five days to remodel my bathroom and looks amazing. They just completed our landscaping in our backyard and it was a big job to do. Removal of over 100 old stones which were replaced by new ones. And much more.
