I went to this club on saturday night, you can't miss it with blue light actually radiating from the entrance. Girls could enter free while guys had to pay 10 euros (drink included) and EVERYONE was required to pay for the guardarobe (3 euros). No receipt, mind you! While I don't normally care about paying for a club, I don't like being forced to pay for the guardarobe. I would rather keep my jacket with me personally. The place itself is really small with just one or two rooms and a 'prive' vip area that looked to be VIP in 1985. Think tacky blue velvet everywhere with a smoky stench (vip = you can smoke there). We ended up going to the bar for a drink which was a pathetic 10 euros, really? I stood and watched them give me no rum, and all coke. nice, i just paid 10 euros for a coca cola. That along with the pink balloons made me feel very much ready for a 'kids party'. The music was... very 80's. While there were a few good songs and I LOVE 80's music, most of the music wasn't the best kind to dance too, but you couldn't tell from looking at the DJ who looked to be directly from the film 'back to the future'. We ended up having a ton of fun because me and my friends made the most of the whole ridiculous atmosphere. I swear, I don't think i saw enough hooker heels in my life. I recommend perhaps sprucing up the place and really investing in a good bartender and make drinks WORTH 10 euros because this place has potential...

Also the location was TINY and nobody could barely move because the doorman just let everyone in even though nobody could breathe. The worst of it all was how incredibly rude the staff was. My friends and I were dancing and minding our own business but out of the blue a staff member came to us and told us we had to move. When we asked politely why we had to move, the guy got really mad and started yelling at us and picking fights with our male friends, and then other staff members came from nowhere and joined in picking a fight... without even knowing what was going on... it was all just very bizarre and I don't know why the staff was so rude and started yelling/fighting when we asked politely why we had to move from the corner we were dancing in. I understand that there are some privately reserved areas (which by the way are TINY) but I know for sure we weren't in that area. If you're in florence do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. For example, we went to 'Space Club' the second night and LOVED it.

As someone who's studying mixology on a more frequent basis, I had a great amount of respect for the bar program at Rex. Take a peek at the glorious bar stocked with spirits old and new. My first drink was the Old Pal, think a Manhattan sub dry vermouth for sweet vermouth. This innovative twist on the classic cocktail was delicious. Served straight up, I absolutely loved the flavor profiles and appreciated the balanced proportions. After that, I stuck with Ron Swanson's personal preference, Lagavulin neat. Hell, I was on vacation and wanted some single malt Scotch! Bartenders were equipped and professional, although not ones to invade our space. We chatted for hours with a friend we made during our dinner at Pizza Man. The cool thing about Rex is that there are so many different options of night you can have. Going hard? Stand near the DJ and take shots of Fernet. Staying low key? Sip a cocktail while sitting in an intimate booth. Here the night is what you make it. A memorable night indeed at Rex, I hope to visit again in the future!

A little disappointing. The best thing flo has going for it is the atmosphere: it's gorgeous and it's all outside. I would say the attire is trendy. Don't need to wear any skimpy bodycon here. Overall it's a pretty popular venue for Florentines, very casual, there's a coat room (av. 2 € per piece), a cocktail bar offering regular beers and a few different cocktails (nothing too fancy) and a few sandwiches for late night cravings. Acoustic has always been a red mark and it has not improved in time, but concerts are still fun and not a bit pretentious. Be aware that parking around this area is almost forbidden unless you come early and lines for tickets are up to 45 min. outside (cold or hot weather doesn't matter).

The people helping were nice but incredibly slow moving. I also was kept from her, they hid her in a coat closet, so had to argue my way back there. It's not safe here. We ended up in the ambulance and hospital for the night. Even the hospital said to file something against space bar, but she didn't want to. Something needing fixed by Space Bar is to get rid of those hard, thick plastic cups ... thin plastic is used for a reason. She said it felt like glass. We never could find the blunt object because of how crowded and dark it is. Thick plastic had the same effect that glass would've. If you had thin plastic instead, this would not have happened. If I were hit, I would've gone right to the police so maybe you should change this issue before someone else files.
