I was injured in a car accident 9 weeks ago and WCB enrolled me in the program and my first call from the office sounded like a parole officer. Never been to jail, not sure if the comparison is sound, but the phrase "You will be required" was spoken more often than in 3 seasons OITNB. My first day a very, very rude physiotherapist grilled me on my level of pain and what I was doing about it. On my second day that same awful woman physically "Evaluated" me, FUN FACT! "Evaluated" in this case meant interrogated while making me move in ways that I kept saying was painful. she even had what she thought was a Gotcha Moment where she thought she'd caught me in a lie. Nope, you are not listening "its not my legs that hurt its my spine!", "That's not what you said!" she snipped back at me. What I said was "Ahhhhh Stop" I gave up and stopped trying to argue. The Geneva Convention has some fascinating literature on Torture WBC might want to brush up on before renewing OT Consulting's Contract. She insisted that what I was feeling was impossible even telling me that "even people with cracked spines can do that" within 10 minutes of that encounter was in too much pain to sit. I was sent to walk laps around the room, I kept telling the kinesiologist "Its not normally this bad" and I even took too far of a step and yelped like an animal. I heard kinesiologist and the PT talking heatedly in the room next to me while I was waiting to find out If I fit the program. Maybe they were arguing about the staff microwave or they were arguing about whether I was faking it. I actually FELL in the parking lot on my way out and had a full blown panic attack. The Kinesiologist who was really sweet came out to check on me. I did wave her off when she asked if she could call me a cab but, I was humiliated and couldn't breath. So I shuffled, I do mean shuffled away. ***Yelp Tip! The cluster of trees outside of Vancouver Public Storage is nice shady place to have an anxiety attack after your appointment with your government appointed interrogator!*** The underlying problem was that the woman who saw me, made a judgement about me and refused to change her mind. She didn't have to believe me, but she did have to treat me with respect. Professionalism would have been nice, but I would have settled some concern for my safety. I can't indefinitely say if her attitude towards my complaints were out of a preconceived judgement or lack of training. Either way WCB needs to vet their contractors better its only a matter of time before someone is permanently injured. I sincerely hope that I am not that first drop in the bucket. I will be getting a lawyer tomorrow and I will likely be going to emerge tonight. The trouble is since Hulkamania roughed me up I can't sit, stand or walk for any length of time. After straining my back, I called OT Consulting and was able to get an appointment that day. This was my first time at OT. The receptionist was very kind and quite informative. They have parking right out front which is convenient (and even more so appreciated when you're injured). Once inside, the receptionist had my paperwork waiting for me. After filling out the paperwork, I saw the physio right away. Hugh was very professional and thorough. He was very patient with my lack of anatomy knowledge and was able to explain things to me in language I could understand. I highly recommend OT Consulting. after completing my term i think , or know something tells me that worksafe BC has not checked in to see what it is they are being billed for. other than child built like "work simulation aids"the patient worksheets are reminders of the first days of the photostat, and the people that couldn't load a sheet of paper straight under the lid , copies of copies of copies that are so dark that they are impossible to comprehend, the ones that are readable are missing important information , blanks not filled in, the ones that are supposed to tell you how many how much how long etc but only a sticker in the corner with your name and id number, and a highlight around the task, which is supposed to aid their rehabilitation. But the patients walk around like zombie prisoners going from task to task doing their time as well meaning staff, lots of them, walk the beat like wardens. Eventually I did figure it out myself and got fit by basically being forced to attend a yoga/ gym. Dont be late or you will be fired ! read more

My experience with OT Consulting was top notch. I visited on multiple occasions following a course of treatment which happily ended with my issues completely cleared up. I wouldn't think twice about going back. read more
