He is an extraordinary and gifted surgeon and has a genuine concern and high level of compassion for his patients. My case was complex and extremely painful and required multiple surgeries. His number one concern for me was pain control and what he could due to ensure I could continue to operate my funeral home and enjoy my life. He treats his patients like they are family and not just another injured person. He makes himself available to his patients until ALL their questions are answered. Yes, you do have to wait to see him, but its because he is in such high demand as a surgeon and his level of skills is one that warrants the wait. I wouldn't even consider seeing another doctor. I trust him wholeheartedly and know the decision about what procedures need to be done for me is what's best for me and for the fastest recovery. If you want the very best of what the medical field and surgery has to offer make the call to Upstate Orthopedics and ask for Dr. Kevin Setter. How many surgeons do you know would operate on a patient on a Saturday? One. Dr. Kevin Setter. I was in a great deal of pain and he took time away from his family to take care of me. Most other surgeons wouldn't have cared that I was hurting and scheduled it four weeks later. That speaks volumes about Dr. Kevin Setter.

Disrespectful of patient's time…read more This is the second time that I've left this office without seeing a doctor after being left in an exam room for over an hour. My appointment was scheduled at 8:30 on a Monday morning specifically so there would be less chance that the doctor was behind and so I could make it to work at a reasonable time. They request that you arrive early so that you can complete paper work. I checked in online and arrived early as requested. After a short wait I was taken to an exam room where I had blood pressure taken and then another assistant asked about symptoms. I then waited until 9:30 (an hour after my 8:30 appointment time) before asking if there was any idea of when I'd see a doctor as I needed to leave for work. I was told someone should be in soon and she'd tell her (Dr. Blake) to see me next. I waited until 9:45 but had to leave for work. I find it unacceptable to make patients wait for 1:15 minutes to see a doctor. We have jobs and our time is precious. Serious improvements are needed to the scheduling process. I will not be using Ithaca Orthopedic Group again.

They stated that the resident orthopedic surgeon was not going to be back in the office for 4 weeks. They asked me if I knew of an orthopedic surgeon that could perform my surgery. I had no clue. I asked my buddy Nick, he highly recommended Dr. Russell LaFrance at Hamilton Orthopedics because his orthopedic sports surgical background. I called his office to make an appointment and explained my situation. In 2 days I met with him and 2 weeks later I had my surgery. Dr. LaFrance did an exceptional job performing my surgery. At my 2 week follow up appointment, he stated that I needed physical therapy to strengthen and regain full functionality of my arm. He referred me to RM Physical Therapy, he stated that "they know what they are doing" regarding the rehabilitation protocol for my arm. On my first day at RM Physical Therapy, I was assigned to my physical therapist-Erik Harris. Erik was amazing! He was kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable. With all humility, I want to give my most sincerest thanks and gratitude to Dr. LaFrance. He helped me when I really needed help the most!

Only allowed so many visits and surgery was not an option. Second time was initiated by myself again for sudden intense pain in right leg from knee down. Unable to stand so went in. Had scans for knee first, reviewed with Jordan showing some cartilage damage due to age, but no tears. Recommended scans on lower keg which I feel should have been done same time so wouldn't have had second copay. Reviewed with Jordan, no infection or tears. No physical therapy was offered, odd? Instead, he took me into another room, I guess the sakes pitch room and brought out a pamphlet showing a course of treatment that included stem cell, platelet therapy and laser. All for $25,000. Oh, and not only would insurance never cover, but they were dropping my insurance, Aetna, in the following week and all insurances in the future. Talked to family member that had the platelet and laser therapy and was told the stem cell part was a bit of an over reach for my condition and platelet therapy didn't always last, hence the lasers. I didn't have $25000 lying around anyway. Wouldn't go back because now it seems like they just want $$$.
