So hard to take a photo w/o violating ppls provacy. This is the entrance to the emergency department.

The short story: Go somewhere else. The experience: I am an OSU alum. I want to like anything OSU... However, even tho this may be an OSU brand and various hospital departments itself (and many doctors inside) are highly ranked...I dislike this ER... strongly. I was having a health issue, called my OSU GP doc, who was concerned that since I have a hole in my heart and a bicuspid valve she wanted to rule out stroke. I was more worried I was having a C4 vertebrae/nerve complication from a prior neck injury. I was told "regardless, you need to go to the ER so that you can have the testing you need, you cannot get that at a urgent care, if you wait for an appointment, that might be detrimental as this is urgent. So at 10:30am we set off to go to OSU's ED- even though on the way we passed TWO other ER/ED departments (St Ann and Riverside). We " chose"OSU. We get to OSU and the wait room is maybe 1/3 or 1/2 full. It's a little dingy... didn't feel like it was the cleanest place. Tbo...I was a little heebed out, definitely zero social distancing going on.... I check in, explain what I"m there for. They have me go around the corner to triage... I get my arm band, they take temp and BP they send me to the lab...which is like ten steps away. At lab I ask... "what's the wait do you think.".. she says I think about 2 hours... but if your lab results come in urgent it will be quicker. I think 2 hours isn't terrible... not great, but fine... right? Wrong. Six+ hours later, not a peep from them on my chart or in the ER waiting area....I'm still not called. In the waiting area I meet two people sitting near me that have been there from, wait for it it..... LAST NIGHT.... and they aren't seen yet. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I find that unacceptable. Now I am angry. During this 6 hours, I have now probably been exposed to covid... I have definitely been exposed to vomiting people. OH, it is just so gross there. no social distancing anymore. none. I look up and see patients escorted in by police officers... that doesn't make you feel safe at all. Oh it's not a fun time at the OSU ER/ED. Fast forward SIX hours.... yes six. Its even less fun. I ask if there are any updates... they say no. I ask how long is the ave wait expected now... they say I don't know, some people "ahead of you have been here 12-18 hours." If you KNOW the wait is at least 12 hours--uh tell the patient! Be upfront. Give them the opportunity to choose to stay or go somewhere else. also if we need to wait 12 hours, how come we can't go home for let's say ten of those hours? We could return closer to our actual admitting time? I mean, come on. I left. Im still dizzy as heck. my right ear is still ringing at a very loud decibel, and my right leg is still numb. Something definitely is wrong with me. People shouldn't feel like they have no other better option than to leave and just "pray". Oh... and it cost me 150 to "not be seen". Strongly dislike this ER Strongly.

Floors are covered with spills, stains, and literal garbage

All of the previous reviews are spot on. It would be hyperbolic to say that literally everyone here is incompetent, but that is definitely a defining feature of the staff. To say that they are rude or unprofessional would assert that they were smart enough to choose personality traits. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. My daughter has literally been waiting on a room for over 24 hours - even with a surgery scheduled in the morning. Although I am not necessarily qualified to properly identify malpractice in a formal sense, I feel strongly enough about this being the case that I will be reaching out to professionals to help me with this.

You kind of feel like you have your own tour guide. Waiting rooms were clean. They had reclining seats in some of them. The secretary at endoscopy was not at her station for five minutes and people who came in after me then got checked in before me Found that irritating. Plus they just left my stickers on her desk... for all to see. pretty sure that is a HIPPA violation. I didnt like my stickers abandoned on an empty desk. Staff was great. I need filtered IVs due to a heart condition and that was available and checked on by both anesthesia and my surgeon/doctor. Felt my heart safety was very well cared for. Procedure was explained thoroughly. Dr Hooper was personable, and answered any questions I had thoroughly without rushing or making me feel silly for having questions. Procedure went smoothly. Doctor Creagh Boulger at OUS East treated my son with vigilance when my son came in bleeding dark red blood & in tremendous pain. He restored the Opioids for the pain which is rated worst than childbirth. Included was a Cat Scan to make sure his kidney wasn't totally blocked & treated my son with Autism with dignity. Garin from the Patient Response Team listened to my concerns & it seemed to me that he was going to try hard to get better treatment for my son. It is possible that he had an influence as instead of waiting until May 21 for Mike's treatment they removed it on May 12th. Doctor Matthew Lee was the kind Doctor who stepped up to the plate. The practice of waiting so long to treat something as painful as a stone is unconscionable. Mike suffered so much during this ordeal from his pain, his Autism and because he couldn't work his full time job. I don't understand what caused this whether it was the industry which causes people to often declare bankruptcy in order to obtain health care. We have the most expensive health by far than the rest of the Industrialized world such as Germany for example which provides Universal health care, out lives us & those who have job pay about 1/2 what wee pay here. Every time I myself suffered from kidney stones the Medical team would give the patient 4 to 5 days to pass it and it it wasn't passed in that time they would go in and remove it. Mike will avoid OSU if he is ever to get the stones again. And in most cases such as mine he will eventually have another attacks.

The biggest change is that it has gone through a total renovation on the inside. The check in area is right up front and it's large and spacious. The main floor looks almost the same, with the small cafe area also getting a face lift. I think the thing I noticed the most is that the stairs are gone from the center of the lobby. Now the main way to get to the second floor is the elevator. This definitely opened up the space. As for offices and different departments, the only ones I've been in since the change are urgent care and physical therapy. The urgent care is now on the first floor and when I had to go a few months ago, I was able to quickly book an appointment online for later that day. I had zero wait time and no problems at all. As for the PT area, it looks completely different, and in a good way. The service I've received has stayed the same, really great overall. I'll definitely continue to come here when needed.

I had a scheduled appointment and was coming in to have some lab work done. This was the first time I have used this location for labs, but it was an option and wanted to go here based on location. I also use this location for Gastroenterology. They have a great department and my doctor works out of the Medical Plaza as well. I have consistently had good visits there too. For the lab work, upon arrival at the plaza the parking is still a bit of a mess due to construction. I would recommend allowing a little extra time to be on the safe side. It was busy when I walked in the tower there was a line at registration of about 7 people in front of me and more arrived after. The line moved as quickly as possible but there was only one employee at that front entrance. She worked to get us all checked in and I think it was just a 9 am rush. After check in and registration, I was directed around to the other side for the lab work. It was on the ground floor and that part of the lobby/waiting room was packed. I had an appointment and waited about 20 minutes past my appointment time or so. I did notice, they do offer walk-in lab hours but would recommend an appointment here if possible. Once my name was called, I was escorted back and the nurse verified my identity and did her job. She was great and was very personable which was nice after the wait. Overall, a good visit and friendly employees and nurses that I spoke with. I will definitely be back as they offer a lot of services and departments here at the Medical Plaza.

I think people's expectations are generally low for a student health center, but I was always able to get appointments very quickly and, aside from one doctor, found everyone to be exceptionally friendly. The women's services doctors were really great - friendly, patient, understanding, never judgmental. If you have to have your first pelvic exam here, have no fear - you are in good hands. My first doctor (who unfortunately has since left) even went above and beyond to do a blood test to check my iron levels when I mentioned in passing that I was a vegetarian and recommended a multivitamin. Pat Balassone was always great - she did my pre-study-abroad appointment and was very thorough, writing out notes and making sure I had an epi-pen to take with me. Dr. Coleman, the allergist, was excellent and made pages and pages of detailed notes. He was a little slow, but nice and thorough. The dental providers were good too. Phlebotomists (who draw blood) were really friendly and the lab turnaround was very quick. Even though the waiting room is sometimes full, everything moves quickly. And once you leave Ohio State and move on to a new doctor, medical records cost $8 and they had about a week turnaround. If you have OSU's student health insurance, all you pay for is dental and specialist appointments. The pharmacy is cheap and pretty quick. The only downsides is the dated facility. But the quality of service makes up for it. And maybe someday soon, there will be a new facility. They can call me and ask for donations for that any time!

I had heard a lot about acupuncture as an alternative to medicine so I was totally game to try it out. Before I dive into the details, I want to clarify that my review is for the office, not the doctor. That's for a different review and a different listing. Now, this building is located right off Kenny Rd. near several other medical buildings. Parking can be a little tight due to the small lots and the several buildings that use them, so just be prepared. You may end up walking a little bit. When you enter you'll notice a small area with a window where you can check in by putting down your name. To the right you'll find a small waiting area with chairs, couches, water, and the typical magazines. This place is a bit of a maze. Depending on what your appointment is for they will direct you to wait in different waiting areas. I always go straight to the back where there are a few couches and a bathroom. The acupuncture rooms are interesting. The entire office is really dated, and it shows the most when you're assigned and waiting in a room. The walls are also very thin, which is my biggest complaint. It's difficult to relax with needles in your body when you can hear everything from the patient's medical history next door to the staff laughing and traveling throughout. There is also a good bit of light pollution, which again can be very annoying when you're trying to relax in a somewhat dark room. This is caused by the windows at the top of the walls in the rooms. If the light is on in the room next to yours, it will shine into your room. My last little complaint is the call reminders regarding your appointments. I kept showing up when the reminder told me to, only to wait 20-30 minutes to be seen. After asking what the problem was, the receptionist informed me that their call software does that on purpose to ensure you arrive on time. Woof! The entire time I was coming 15-20 earlier then I needed to. The staff is somewhat friendly, and the place is clean but the other reviews on this page do not surprise me. Could it be better? Definitely! Is it one-star worthy, I don't think so. I'll stick with a solid three.

I went to see Dr. Kanodia at this practice. At first I was so excited because I have received very…read morepositive referrals for this practice. When I went I thought the facility was very nice and the staff seemed very attentive and kind. Kr. Kanodia was very nice. After looking at my new patient forms he decided to forego the exam in favor of using the hour to discuss my health history. I was impressed because most of the doctors I had seen up to this point didn't really care about my health history and didn't really want to talk anything beyond the current symptom they could throw a pill at. So at the end of the session Dr. Kanodia's advise was to go buy a diet book and try the diet for 4 weeks and then come back and see him. I beg your pardon? I asked for some clarification as to why he was suggesting this and he told me I probably had yeast in my head and this diet would help get it under control. Now, I have spent the last 3 years of my life trying to let go of the "diet" mentality because it has been a huge source of problem for me, so for that reason and other I had a panic attack right there in his office. This may seem trivial to you but for me this is a very big deal. I got myself together and explained why I couldn't just put myself on another extreme diet. Basically, he talked me into reading the book. I did and man, way extreme. A few days after finishing the chapters he recommended I decided that suggesting such an extreme change for someone who clearly has an issue with dieting based on ZERO exam or bloodwork data is a failure on Dr. Kanodia's part. I decided that I do not need to go see yet another doctor who is going to guess at what is wrong with me without ever trying to find at least marginal proof that a course of action is a sound one for the situation. If it's yeast fine, show me some data that will at least show it is a possibility. Do SOMETHING scientific. Anyway, nothing personal against Dr. Kanodia but I felt like his methods, while much nicer and more customer service oriented then your standard MD visit, still left much to be desired. So I canceled my follow up appointment and wrote a letter to Dr. Kanodia letting him know that I couldn't follow his diet. He was very nice. Then the bill came. WOW! super expensive for that hour. I couldn't afford to pay it right away and my Insurance didn't cover it (hadn't met my deductible yet.) So I did what I could and started to pay $5 a month until I can either A. get a chunk of money and pay it off, or B. pay monthly until it's paid off. Imagine my surprise when I got a letter from a collection agency trying to collect on the debt, especially since the debt letter has the original balance not the most recent balance after OSU has cashed all of the checks I sent. When I called the collector to inquire about the bill I discovered then that the office had also billed me for the appointment I canceled (long before the appointment date through their online system.) So, in short I started out with very high hopes and expectations based on what I had been told about their practice. I was extremely disappointed. I will of course be disputing the second billing, and will continue to pay on my current bill, but I can bring myself to go back there. I loved the idea of the functional medicine, I think that attitude is right on the money, but so far they have only shown me that this practice is just like every other, at least where treating me is concerned, except for the fact that they charge more for an hour than most and they send to collections faster than others. If yo decide to go see the docs here maybe you will have a better experience than I did, good luck and I hope it works for you.
