Oh boy... the next place taking over the place where NiBa reigned for years with fantastic quality of food and service (though slightly overpriced).
After the very short intermezzzo of a place called "Friends, willkommen bei Freunden" which - granted had ok food at ok prices - was a place without a profile, concept (Thai? Coffee house? Pasta? bar? lounge? WTF?) and only there for the blink of an eye, the Osteria opened.
At first we were very optimistic, food was decent, Antipasti fresh, pasta ok but it went downhill fast.
Service is slow to non existent (I even considered tripping the waitress to get some attention), the pizza is pressed in a gigantic industrial factory style kind of machine (people, where is the LOVE for the food? give the guests a little show of pie tossing Italians, does an Osteria (Gasthaus) really have such a thing now?) and once a pasta was forgotten, which was not even admitted, or apologized for. But brought out late (everybody else already finished) and nuked - a.k.a. overcooked.
But service remains the weak point - with the pinnacle being that dirty plates from ANOTHER table which the waitress had in hand were dumped on OUR dirty dishes to form a neat stack. Yuck. Granted this is easier and I sometimes do that AT HOME, but in a restaurant... geez... Osteria, better get the act togehter or make room for the next restaurant (Nikos - come back... please) read more
