This comfortably quiet restaurant is to be found on a quaint little street. You can practically miss it if you don't look hard enough, but it's got a pleasantly small and homey feel to it. When we came in there was no one in the restaurant - no customers, just the waitress and the cook in the back, but every table was full by the end of our meal. There was a bit of a language barrier for the S.O and I because we don't speak Italian and the waitress spoke little English, but she was very sweet and tried her best to explain the menu and make recommendations!
Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing, even though we came in starving! With only a handful of vegetarian options, we shared a zucchini appetizer was dissatisfying - lacked zest for a tapas style antipasti. For entree, I went for the classic - Cacio e Pepe - very cheesy, thick, and creamy - I'd say most people can't go wrong with this, unless you're like me and prefer extra flavor. The S.O. ordered a fried/breaded lamb dish and was unimpressed. It came with a side of broccoli rabe, which he typically loves, but my-oh-my, this man nearly threw up because it tasted rotten and bitter. I've never seen him so disgusted with food before. He was so done that he didn't want dessert, but I convinced him that it would wash down the taste. Sadly, the dessert wasn't anything special either. read more
