He dose not mince words, he tells you what you need to hear so you can move forward with your treatment the safest way possible. The front staff are the greatest, they were very reassuring and answered EVERY one of my questions no matter how silly or anxious i was to ask them. they walked us through what was happening every step of the way. Angela, Laura have done what they do for some time now, they are very thorough and keep you well informed when they communicate with you. I wish i could remember the names of the other medical aides in the office and give them their well deserved credit. Even the person collecting blood work was amazing. my wife has always had problems giving blood, most techs usually have issues finding a suitable vein and yet this amazing woman was able to draw her blood on the first attempt with out even so much as a wince of pain. "we were lucky to find these people" I keep telling my wife. its a scary process realizing you have RA, but these folks made us feel more at ease with their expertise

I'm so happy I did because he actually made me feel better, not only physically but happier to know that he genuinely cares about my well being. My coworker warned me that an appointment with him would likely take weeks to a few months to receive but his administrative staff, Michelle and Kathy, are so great and I was able to see him a few days after my first call to the office. They are on top of his schedule and they call patients when openings become available so as to accommodate. I work in the medical field so I know we can be hypochondriacs but I trust him enough to not second guess his opinions or directives. It is refreshing and calming to know that my doctor wants me to be well as much as I want to be well, to listen to my concerns and address them and make me feel as though I have a part to play in decisions about my health care. I am so happy to have found Dr. Markowitz. He is a treasure to the field of medicine. More doctors should carry themselves, professionally, as he does.

I spent almost a day researching GI docs in the New York area. I made two appointments...one with Dr. Markowtiz and one with some other doc. Both doctors I met with have mega-credentials and are in the "Best Doctors in America" book. However, the first guy I saw was way too fast and seemed to have no empathy for me at all. He was part of a faculty practice at Mt. Sinai and had some lady doing her fellowship meet with me for the majority of the visit. I did not wait several months for an appointment to meet with some random woman doing her fellowship. Then I went to see Dr. Markowtiz. It took me like 3 or 4 months to get an appointment with him....but I was fine with waiting...as this was not pressing. Dr. Markowitz is a very personable down to earth doctor who takes his time and listens to what you have to say. He saw me personally, not some assistant or resident...it was only him. I could tell right away that this guy is an absolute pro. He did the procedure, which was nothing and I'm fine. I highly recommend Dr. Markowitz. From what I gather, he is one of the best GI docs in the country. And on top of that, he is a nice guy.

That said, her empathy and bedside manner are frustrating. And if you already struggle with overall health anxiety, then she isn't the doctor for you. I imagine she used to be warm and empathic but is just now perhaps a bit tired from her career, so it seems.

Basically, yes, definitely, 100% all the good stuff everyone else said. Dr. Cho is the best…read more But, let's be serious, if you are reading reviews of doctors you have probably seen a lot of nice things said about a lot of other doctors, so you are thinking "the best? sure, but is the best really so much better that it is worth paying an annual fee for One Medical Group?" and you are feeling hesitant to commit. Or not, whatever, congrats on your decisiveness, but that is definitely what I was thinking after bouncing from doctor to doctor for the past few years. I was worried that I might make the commitment and then regret it. I didn't understand how Dr. Cho could be that much better than other doctors. Oh my god that was stupid. Dr. Cho is SO much better than other doctors. She thinks, she asks great questions, she listens, she explains, she cares! Try to imagine a doctor who does all of that really well. Like, imagine just a really stand out ideal doctor, the doctor that you really hope you will meet if you go for One Medical group. Are you imagining? Good. That doctor you are imagining sucks compared to Dr. Cho. The difference is that Dr. Cho doesn't just care about her patients. She cares about her job. Deeply and to the point that it is obvious within minutes of meeting her (or I don't know, can someone fake that? I don't think so). So as a great doctor, with a team of great doctors around her, she probably has spent a lot of time, her life really, thinking about how to be the best doctor. Way more than you or I have spent. So she knows far more than we do about what a great doctor should do. That means that when you go to the office and see Dr. Cho there are so many things being done to make your visit go perfectly that you won't even notice or understand them all. You just have a great experience. Then, what, I guess you sit down and think about it and try to explain it on Yelp and realize that you are under-qualified to explain why the experience was so great but you really want other people to know. So... yeah, all of that. I guess its time for you to stop vacillating and make an appointment.
