As a frequent shopper at this Ross location, I want to share a concern about an interaction I…read morewitnessed between a manager, Jennifer, and an associate during a recent corporate visit. Jennifer addressed the associate about moving a customer's transaction along more quickly. The associate was scanning merchandise, removing security tags, folding the garments, and placing them carefully into the bag. Jennifer directed her to move the transaction faster and essentially just slide the garment into the bag. I understand the importance of efficiency in a high-volume retail environment. However, there is also value in an employee who takes pride in her work and handles a customer's purchases with care. In fact, this particular associate is one of the best employees I have observed at this location. As a frequent shopper, I have encountered her many times. She consistently works hard, smiles, engages with customers, is polite and thorough, and provides genuine customer service rather than simply processing the next transaction. That kind of employee should be recognized, encouraged, and retained. My concern is also with how the matter was handled. If an associate needs coaching regarding transaction speed or another performance expectation, that conversation should be handled privately and professionally--not in front of customers and coworkers. There is a training and leadership component as well. If Ross has specific expectations regarding transaction times or how merchandise should be handled, those expectations should be clearly communicated through training. Managers should likewise be trained to coach employees respectfully while recognizing the strengths good employees bring to the workplace. Leadership is not simply about getting an employee to move faster, particularly when corporate is present. It is about setting clear expectations, providing proper training, recognizing good performance, and knowing when a conversation should take place privately. I hope the general manager takes this feedback seriously. Associates should be accountable for their performance, but managers should also be accountable for how they lead--especially when dealing with employees who consistently demonstrate a strong work ethic and provide excellent customer service.

Waiting in that line was ridiculous. I've never seen a retail store in such complete chaos. Merchandise was piled everywhere, racks were a mess, and the entire store looked like it had been picked over for days without anyone bothering to straighten it up. You really need to see the photos to appreciate how bad it was. The only reason this visit wasn't a complete disaster was Nya (hence the one star...for Nya). She is one of the most efficient cashiers I've ever seen. While the other register crawled along, Nya was friendly, professional, and moving customers through at an impressive pace. She easily checked out several times more customers while still providing excellent service. What made the situation even more frustrating was watching the manager/supervisor stand nearby talking with employees instead of opening another register to help the two dozen customers waiting in line. Leadership isn't standing around while your customers become increasingly frustrated. This store desperately needs better management, better organization, and enough staff to handle the volume of customers. It will take a genuine emergency before I ever step foot in this Ross again.

The line here can get pretty long but it moves very fast. I barely waited 20 minutes and they only had about 4 registers open. Much quicker than the Huntersville store in that regard. Since the store gets pretty packed it can be hard to snag a cart, so just know that and grab one in the parking lot if you see it.

I wasn't sure about one of the signs so I asked an associate and she was helpful with helping me understand which items the sale belonged to. The clothes were all nicely folded and there were many associates throughout the store on the floor that could assist people so I liked that alot. They make it easy to pickup an online order curbside or in store. In your confirmation email you just check in and a notification is sent to a point person at the store. I think I even heard a doorbell ring. With this method you don't need to show ID. Of course I had to do a quick browse, and the prices are very reasonable. The store appears to be well stocked too. I didn't make it past the tops because they were about to close, but I'll definitely return to find some workout gear.
