Horrible experience. went in for a simple endoscopy, she ruptured my esophagus. it's a risk, but…read moreshe refused to talk to my wife after. another doctor had to talk to my wife arrange x-rays and ambulance to another hospital for emergency surger. she NEVER checked on us, no follow up, no note from the office, nothing. I will never recommend her, if she was the last one on earth I'd use a coat hanger

Will never return!…read more My appointment was today at 11:45 am, I arrived at 11:35 because I respect my doctors time. I arrived to a waiting room full of people, that was concerning to begin with. I was not called into a patient room until 12:45, that's one hour after my appointment time. By 1:15 I got up and left. I notified the nurse first. The nurse tried to tell me that each patient that was seen today had issues that resulted in the super crazy delay. Which is funny because the receptionist told me a totally different story, her story was that they had an emergency in the morning which resulted in the delays. So I told the nurse that the receptionist had a different story. She said yes there was an emergency this morning which did result in delays. I asked "Shouldn't that have warranted a call to me to let me know that you were running more than an hour late per patient and then given me the option to reschedule or take my original appointment?" Of course I got the run around, each patient is different and their treatment is different. Ok, you obviously have a scheduling issue considering the other reviewer stated he waited over 90 minutes. As a patient it's important that the doctor and their staff respect my time. My time is worth just as much as theirs is. I always respect my doctors time by showing up early and never cancelling within 24 hours. After leaving and heading home so I could eat lunch before returning to my busy job I got a call from the nurse. No joke it was now 1:45, two hours after my original appointment, the nurse stated that if I came back right now the doctor would be available to see me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? TWO HOURS AFTER MY APPOINTMENT TIME. I flat out told the nurse that I would not give my money to a doctor that doesn't respect the time of her patients. I am happy to take my business else where. In the future I will be sure to read reviews before I book. This was a huge waste of my day! Do yourself a favor and don't schedule with this office unless you have at least two hours to waste.

UPDATE: This the…read morefirst time I've ever had such a strong range of opinions about a business practice. I still think Dr. Ilyas is a good physician - but I'm decidedly less enamored of her / the office as I was initially. Turns out - they deliberately prescribed a different allergy Rx than the one I'm used to - simply because they couldn't find it in eScribe. It took an insane amount of back and forth via WellStar MyChart messages to get it resolved. Walgreen's was nice - but they told me, they just didn't understand why someone from the physician's office didn't just pick up the phone to call them. Keep in mind - I gave them a TYPEWRITTEN list. And remember when I said she offered to order the annual labs I need as a GBS patient. Whelp! She reneged on the offer. Lol. Initially, I declined the offer because there's a lot of them I figured I 'd just get Dr. Jean-Pierre to order them. I told warned Dr. Ilyas that there were quite a few labs and her exact words were, "No problem. If you change your mind, just let us know. I'd be more than happy to order them for you." But later I wound up having to make yet another trip to south Ga - got stuck there for over a week dealing with real estate closings and probate stuff. And, of course, Dr. Jean-Pierre's nurse refused to order the labs I needed. (Check my other Yelp review for more on that.) So I decided to message Dr. Ilyas to take her up on her offer. When I sent Dr. Ilyas the full list of labs I needed, all of sudden, she told me that she'd prefer that I let my other doctor order them. Hunh? We messaged back and forth and I explained my reluctance to go for labs on two separate occasions when I could kill the two proverbial birds with one stone - but she held firm. I accepted her decision, but I must admit - I still don't understand why she changed her mind. The other problem I experienced was related to another Rx she called in for a trial 30 days usage. After 30 days elapsed, as directed I messaged her a request for a dosage increase. Her office sent an Rx for higher dosage, for 15 days, with instructions to break the pills in half (which would have resulted in putting me back at the current dosage). It took several messages back and forth to get them to understand and correct the error. But because of their mistake, my insurance company refused to fill the new Rx and out of pocket cost is over $75. This was another instance where I feel that picking up the phone and calling me (or the pharmacy) would have saved me countless HOURS (and I'm not exaggerating) with Walgreens and Ambetter. Keep in mind - this was not a language barrier issue - I messaged the staff via WellStar MyChart with my exact needs, and a brief recap / reminder of what she'd said and prescribed during the initial visit. With the current state of the world, I don't know that I'll be switching providers any time soon - it was hard enough to get an appt with HER - because a lot of doctors are not taking new patients at the moment - but I'm definitely feeling a lot less optimistic about my care under this provider. Mistakes with Rx's can cost people their lives and while the medications in question were not a class of medications that could cause death, this level of carelessness and lack of attention to detail makes me nervous. This really should be a 2 star "I've experienced better" review. Or perhaps even a 1 star review. But I'm combining original 5 star review with a 1 - 2 star review - which averages out to a 3 star review. ORIGINAL REVIEW - I had a bit of trouble finding the office because I turned in but didn't notice the low slung single story building right near the entrance, but even once I circled around the parking lot and came back to it - it wasn't immediately clear which of these buildings housed Suite 220. Upon my entrance, I was happy to see an empty waiting room. :-) The front desk associates / medical receptionists were pleasant and efficient. My wait time was less than 4 minutes. Dr. Ilyas was pleasant and professional. We went over my medical history and she offered to order my labs and take over management of my endocrinology care. She did not make me feel rushed and seemed to genuinely care about my health and well-being - unlike some physicians who seem to be pretty burnt out and just counting the days til retirement. Lol. Her assistant, Fatima (sp?), was also a joy. I'd typed and emailed myself a list of all the vitamins and herbs I'm currently taking - along with some maintenance meds I take as needed (stuff for allergies, stomach spasms, etc). The visit went great and I am looking forward to a great relationship with my new primary care physician.

Let me start off by saying Dr. Steven Cohen seems to be a nice, down-to-earth, laid back doctor…read more He doesn't seemed rushed - and I'm sure most patients love that. But his office staff can be disorganized, making it difficult to schedule an actual appointment. Today I fasted all day - both food and liquids only to be told that I was scheduled for a problem visit - not a physical. Also - the young lady that booked my appointment told me I would be seeing "Richard Cohen" (not Steven) and that's who I'd seen previously. I almost declined the appointment. Turns out she was mistaken. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he kind of just brushed it off. The only reason I even mentioned it is so that he doesn't lose potential or existing patients because some nut manning the phones doesn't know the names of all the doctors in the group. But I digress. I had a 3:15pm appointment and was not finished until 5:11pm. Here's what didn't happen: 1. I did not get the scheduled physical / wellness visit (insurance company provides one free one per year) 2. I did not get labs done (although he offered) - after nearly 2 hours - I had to leave - I had work to do, I was tired, thirsty and thoroughly irritated with the doctor 3. I did not get Rx for medications that I'd taken previously - and I'm referring to regular run-of-the mill Rx's - not narcotics or other potentially addictive meds. 4. I got my ears tortured. I did have a somewhat stuffy right ear - so his nurse (friendly, funny Lakeisha) - spent about 20 minutes trying, unsuccessfully, to irrigate both ears. When she couldn't get the blockage taken care of, she called Dr. Cohen back in - and he was very rough when he examined them - like he was pissed that he had to come back in. I have to admit - my feelings were a little hurt. Or maybe I was just hungry. Lol. But thanks to that nonsense - my ears are ringing and sensitive to wind right now. Maybe my expectations of a primary care physician are too high. I'm looking for a one-stop-shop kinda guy. I don't want to have to pay $75 and go see another Wellstar doctor for medicine for skin psoriasis or acne cream - I want my PCP to write it if I'm in his office. Is it possible to OD or abuse this kind of stuff? What's the deal? Anyway - so thanks, Dr. Cohen - aka Cobb Medical Group - WellStar Health System. a. I still need a physical b. I still need labwork. c. I spent $35 to have my ears tortured and to be given a case of tinnitus d. I did get one Rx and advice on how to wean myself off a maintenance med e I did get an offer of a referral to an ENT (which I declined) Let me end this on a positive note; Once again - Dr. Cohen will take extraordinary time in the exam room with you. The front desk staff is very pleasant "in person" - Nurse or assistant was friendly They are using the "My Chart" system that allows you to see your lab results, schedule appointments, even send messages to the Doctor. (This is great - can't believe all doctors aren't doing this.) Suffice it to say - I really wanted to love this practice - its close, convenient, I liked Dr. Cohen's bedside manner (at first) . . . but after the clusterf*ck of my first two visits* - and now this one - I will definitely be looking for a new primary care physician. *They screwed up my labs the last time - and I had to call and beg for results . . . not going through that again - I'm an idiot for even going back today.
