Had this place PRE-BOOKED for the Fourth of July.... RUINED the one vacation of the year I get and still have not received reimbursement of $500+ back on pre booked multiple day stay. CURTAINS HAD LAYERS OF MOLD. I HAVE A AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE AND CAN NOT SLEEP IN SUCH CONDITIONS HAVING A WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEMS.. Out of all things how easy is it to replace curtains not to mention they sit right over the ventilation system that circulates the air in the room... They refused to reimburse us at the time so we HAD TO SPEND ANOTHER $800+ ON SPOT, GO HOME, OR buy equipment and CAMP.. Thankfully there is a new large hotel with all new amenities and vacancy even during the week of 4th of July saving us a 3 hour drive home or campsite search.. read more

Run! Do not stay here. My husband wanted to surprise me, so to end our 2 week vacation he thought he would book a room on the beach as we headed down state. Upon our arrival there were 3 employees bashing a guest from the night before. We went in the hotel and I noticed a distinct mildew smell. Enterinng the room there were toddler hand prints all over the mirror. We left, went to the beach. 3 hours later the same employees were still sitting outside. The biggest surprise came when the lights went out. A COCKROACH was crawling across the comforter. We had to back and leave at 1am. The front desk tried to say we brought in the cockroach from home. When we showed them the picture they said it waasn't there hotel even though it is clearly there carpet. Disgusting people. They all have a very thick accent. The employees were rude and stated the rented the room the very next day without remediating the problem. Liars is what you are going to find here. read more

Horrible place. The staff were horrible. An hour after we arrived, my wife was sitting in the chair and our puppy was trying to get to something next to the chair, which turned out to be a piece of dog, or cat turd on the carpet. This was not our dog that did this! I picked it up with some tissue and took to front desk to complain! The front desk man said "Oh, they must have missed this"! I said " So our $50 pet fee should cover this than"? My wife was hysterical and wanted to leave. An hour later I was walking across the room in my socks and something popped up. Well, it was a rusty razor blade! Crpet was black and gold so we did not see it earlier I took this to front desk, and I was furious. This could have cut me badly! I told the goofball clerk, "What is wrong with this place?" He said that you can't raise your voice and abuse me. You can leave than! This guy was just a total weak man. I waited a couple of days to see if I was being dramatic about this place. Nope! Dead frog in the lobby for a couple days. Hot tub an odd shade of yellow. Beds insanely uncomfortable. Asked for towels everyday. Finally got them the day we left. No cleaning service to the room at all. We tried to get money back so we could leave and go elsewhere but that was refused. The only thing good is the beach but there are a lot of good beaches in Oscoda. read more

Stayed here with my family because it's the only place we found that had a suite. It's not totally disgusting - my mom said don't be too scared by the reviews. That being said; this is northern Michigan, so I wasn't expecting the four seasons hotel or anything spectacular. It was a cold January day, and once we got to our suite, it was frigid cold. I really wish they would have turned the heat on just so we didn't enter the tundra of our room. Service at the desk was just ok. We came at night and the receptionist seemed annoyed-- she must not have had her coffee or something. But she did give us some good pizza coupons that we used to get delivery. Oh!! How could I almost forget the mention the wrestling team that was staying here! Running up and down the hall the entire time. We called the desk, and I totally understand, there's only so much they can do, but from the sounds of them yelling at 1am, they didn't do anything. We read a review on here that the rooms smelled like Brussels sprouts... at first we thought the people were being too critical, but then after a while, honestly yeah!! It did smell like Brussels sprouts. It's not really, really bad... it's just not wonderful. I won't stay here again. read more

I can't remark on the motel itself but they have excellent and caring staff. My daughter and her long time boyfriend were staying there and he had a massive stroke and passed away. They comforted her and kept an eye on her as she was quite distraught. They put her in another room, moved her stuff for her. She was quite impressed by the fact nothing was missing as there was money in plain site. They kept an eye on her until someone could get up there to be with her and drive her home. It is about 130 miles from home but think about if you were a long way from home. Death on a trip is not something you have planned for especially in your 50's. read more

We ended up here after another local place unexpectedly canceled our reservation. While there were a couple of hiccups (not uncommon in this industry), our stay was generally uneventful. The rooms were newer and the rates were affordable for an extended stay. No breakfast, but the rooms do have mini fridges and microwaves for small grocery store trips. read more

If I could give this nasty place a negative star I would. Never pay $200 for the "jacuzzi suite". Absolutely not worth it. Better off sleeping on the beach! Tv remote doesn't work. When I asked the front desk she was clueless. Another tv mounted to the wall that doesn't work. Jacuzzi has minimal hott water coming out of the faucet. To say the least. Don't stay here. The hotel is right on the beach, beach is clean. Hotel allows pets. The building needs some serious updates. The vending machine is empty, on the 1st floor there's only 1 ice machine that works. Breakfast is donuts, bagels, cereal and make your own waffles. Our room was so hot during the night we had to turn on the a.c.(a window unit but it is quiet). 2 pillows per bed(most hotels ive been in have 4) Lots of cable channels, a fridge and microwave in the room. Fairly clean for a pet friendly beach hotel...lots of sand haha. If you're just looking for an inexpensive place to crash and beach it up, this is perfect. read more

So let's start by saying the staff that checked us in was great. Then the nightmare starts. The room stunk like Brussel sprouts , the door did not properly (would not lock)the internet is a total joke it only works if you're sitting in the lobby. This is the shadiest place I've ever given my business to. They charged me an addition $175 on top of my room with no explanation and after several calls and messages left with the front desk, the manager refuses to call me back. They over-booked themselves for the weekend and had to put me in a room that the door did not close and the floor was soaking wet for some reason. TV only had 2 Spanish speaking channels and yet I paid full price for the room. Hands down the worst hotel experience I've ever had. read more

Most of the staff members I interacted with were pleasant, polite, and efficient. If you: don't have a sense of smell, all the other places are booked, don't have a vehicle to sleep in, and have a strong immune system, this is the place for you. read more

The Oscoda Lakeside Hotel in Oscoda, MI, is a SINKING SHIP! It appears to have once been a nice hotel (maybe 20 years ago), but has not been maintained and is well past its prime. The pool was dirty and even closed 1 of the 3 days we were there due to a state violation. There was a lot of beach sand in the indoor pool because the shower to rinse your feet off after being outside only turned on to a mere trickle of water--useless. Our biggest issue was the lack of housekeeping. I have traveled extensively throughout the country and abroad, and NEVER have I had to REQUEST fresh towels or that the bed be made! Isn't that included in the hotel price? Beds unmade, wastebaskets overflowing, dirty towels not replaced. When I told the front desk our room had not been attended to, I was informed it was OUR responsibility to REQUEST service by hanging a sign on our door. Note we were never TOLD of this ridiculous policy AND there was NO SIGN to even hang on the door! Even if I had requested service, that apparently would not have included new bed linens or any cleaning--just re-making beds and new towels. So why were we charged the same price on nights 2 and 3 if we didn't get the same service as we (hopefully) got for the first night? I tried, unsuccessfully, on days 2 and 3 to speak with the hotel manager--Chris, and was finally PROMISED she would call me on day 4, after we had left. Of course, I never received said call. Hence, I am writing to a website for the first time ever, in the hope that I can warn others of this poor excuse for a hotel. I must note that the second shift desk clerk, Jessica, and the man named Matt tried to be helpful--it is the the hotel manager, the hotel policies, and the hotel itself that are all sorely lacking. read more

This place is disgusting. Totally went downhill and theyve hiked the price up. Beach is poorly kept, hot tub broken. Stains on curtains poor lighting and overly furnished rooms with terrible musty smell coming from air conditioning unit. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. What a dump. read more

Room left a lot to be desired! Room no 30 . Walls patched, wood all rotten around windows, air conditioner was like a toy. It would take well over an hour to bring temp down , maybe two to make a livable temp. No screens on Windows so if air isn't working can't use Windows. Stains in cording in cheap mattress which might imply previous problem. Room was so lousy we decided it was not for us. They would not return our money. Be real careful on this one. We drove all the way back to Ply Mi.. Ruined our weekend with family. Decided not to eat there also after they wouldn't return our deposit. Ranks as one of worst rooms ever.! read more

Terrible! I called in the morning to make a reservation, went to check in later that night around 10 pm with my 2 young kids and 4 hours from home and they had me marked as a no show! Took almost an hour to get it figured out and handled, the girl at the desk was very nice gave me a free night because I was calling to find a different place. Room was dirty, dirty toilet paper in bathroom and dirt every where. Next morning I go to desk and a different girl was there explained what happened and to make sure I had a room for this night. She tried charging me an extra night because I wasn't supposed to get a free room! I debated it and ended up signing a receipt for one night... Get home she charged me for another night that I was not even there for! I have been calling for 3 days now and the manager will not call me back! read more

We booked this hotel very last minute and there were no other places available around town. Overall everything was just ok. The room was on the small side, but seemed clean. I wasn't a fan of the dogs being allowed. We had a neighboring room with a LARGE dog that seemed a bit aggressive. Our AC unit would kick on even when the knob was in the "off" position. The people in the room above us were noisy and I was surprised I could hear it. You don't typically hear your upstairs neighbors in a hotel! The staff was very kind and friendly, no complaints. The hot tub was out of order and the pool was just OK. I'd stay here again, but I'm not sure I'd pay the same price. I didn't really think we got our money's worth out of it. read more

Dirty despicable motel....pool out of service for over a week...the rooms are filled with mildew and spider webs....no maid service...I wouldn't even use this filthy pigsty for a boarding facility for my dogs in which I'm sure their stay at petsmart was way better than my stay here....good riddens...glad to be on the road back home! Dirty, rooms stink, beds are on wood blocks and don't lay flat, sheets and towels have stains. Went to the front desk to ask for different sheets and pillows and they said they didn't have any. Went to the desk to ask for towels and stood there for almost 15 minutes with no one at the desk, finally a lady with her two kids walk in the lobby and go behind the desk and the lady continued to ignore me and just was yelling at her kids to behave, she eventually asked me if "she" was helping me, I was confused cause I had no idea who "she" was because I was standing in the lobby by myself for fifteen minutes. I then left my room to get ice only to return with my key not working and my 3 year old sleeping daughter locked in the room, I went up to the desk to ask if I could get my key reactivated and she told me that it happens all the time and that she has a monitor to watch her kids, that were sleeping upstairs?? This hotel is horribly managed, employees are more worried about their kids that they bring to work then working, it's very dirty, pool area is never cleaned, had sticks and random objects laying around the whole weekend I was there, jacuzzi was broke and half filled with bugs floating in it. Worst experience ever, we had 6 rooms and we will never return. Please be sure to avoid this hotel, they should not be taking people's money to stay there! read more
