She only eats chips & cheese so anywhere suits her but I have to have kebab! Being as we had to trek to the station to get a taxi we passed Mill Hill. Now I'd usually ask the taxi to take a detour past my very regular kebab shop but seeing as there was no Q and the place was clean and it actually smelled appetising we popped in! Kebab meat and salad on chips and cheese is usually something ppl get wrong (there is a specific science to it!!!) but they got it right- with a very short wait. It didn't last long- tasty enough to demolish every last scrap! The downfalls here are- It gets MEGA busy and due to this is gets food remnants and packaging left on tables so doesn't look inviting They never seem to have enough staff so sometimes you have to wait AGES!(or what feels like ages when you're drunk!) They also cook food to order so there is a wait (also a plus I'd say!) All in all it's a reliable stop off point for a late night feed (just don't go past in the daylight!)

It's obviously…read morenot a place for fine dining, but it does exactly what it says on the tin: decent kebabs, chicken and chips with no frills at a perfect post-pub price. If we're being honest, there are much more refined kebabs you can find, but it's just not that sort of place. The guys are the counter are always friendly - especially when you consider how much abuse they have to take from drunken idiots. Cheap and cheerful, which is how it should be.

Hot Stuff is a bit of a mixed bag, and in my opinion, a bit of a pot luck kind of takeaway place…read more The pot luck element is of course with regard to their kebabs and other such items, I mean, if all you want is a portion of chips I really doubt you'll get a bad batch. As with many people, I'm sure, my sole usage of this establishment has been post-Cockpit. In this way it's always been a bit of a "I'm drunk and therefore want evil food" kind of relationship between Hot Stuff and I, and in that at least, I can say that they have been faithful, cheery and dutiful. I certainly couldn't advise eating there sober - but then I can't think of a kebab shop anywhere that I would choose to dine from, for say my working lunch. Sometimes the kebab has been magic, sometimes the kebab has been the opposite. This variable could of course be down to my alcohol consumption, I might add. Whilst it's not the nicest place to be after 2am, given all the drunken bloke-ness around here, the staff have always been pretty friendly. I don't know if I could be, working here and serving quite so many intoxicated muttonheads - so props to them! All in all, Hot Stuff serve a range of much demanded take away foods for the masses - most especially after a big night out on the town.

Oh deary me, I'm not sure what it says about me that on Valentine's eve I ended up in a kebab shop,…read morebut I'm willing to take the social hit. As a matter of fact, it's not nearly as sad as it sounds, so before judgement is passed let me explain. A group of friends and I decided to congress in town at The Victoria for a few jovial drinks, not exactly in celebration of Hallmark's favourite day, but certainly in spite of it. It's odd- I'd not realised what a ghost town Leeds could become as a result of this contested event. The pub, but the time I'd gotten out, was virtually empty... In any case, back to Zam Zams. So, we'd partaken of many ales and it had come to that special time post-booze, where upon we all felt le faim de le loup. It became clear that folk wished to sit in whilst consuming various meaty products (literally; that wasn't a dirty joke) and so we chose to dine at Zam Zams. There are plenty of cheap take away style items to choose from, but I'm sure you'll be aware of all the regulars. For me, I opted for a good old fashioned donner meat and chips. My plate came with a mound of presumably freshly sliced kebab meat, lots of chips and a complimentary suggestion of salad. Once smothered in the 'Chefs Mayonnaise' (note, the grammar anomalie) I was good to go. Before ten minutes had passed I'd pretty much demolished what was on the plate, the chips being particularly good, only leaving a small amount as I was full. After a tiny taster of the chilli sauce, I knew it wasn't for me -being a regular spice wuss, I'm sure it tasted hotter than the sun. This, could be a positive for some, such as my compadre who bathed his kebab in the aforementioned condiment, delighted. The staff were all pretty friendly, and service was super swift, perhaps being as Zam Zams also have a take away version of the business adjoining next door. The tables etc are certainly your standard diner/greasy spoon style, and romantic or exotic the menu is not, but should you wish to sit and eat late of an evening amongst friends then this is as good a place as any to do so. The biggest bonus being, it's open as late as you could wish. (Well, I'm sure they close at some point, but probably not before you'll be heading home.) £3.50 or so will fill you up with some fairly decent kebab meat, chips and send you home without fear of a hang over. Job done.

It is obvious as soon as you walk in that this isn't what a kebab shop looks like. It's clean and airy with a large counter displaying a variety of salad items. The staff were a cut above as well. Unfortunately as well as upping the standards they have also upped the price with the result that I paid more for a standard kebab here, out of town than I would in the city. They serve an impressive array of kebabs here and I will certainly be treating myself again in the near future. I put the disorganized nature of the service down to the newness of the venture.

Friendly and able hostess took our name, a 20-30 minute wait because we had six people. At this busy peak time, seemed more people turned around and left rather than wait to eat. I prefer the second floor seating area if you have a choice. Lots of commotion on first floor and it was loud. The chicken was nice enough, cooked right and tasty. The cole slaw was not cold enough, more room temperature and too wet (it wasn't dodgy but close). I won't get that again, should have stayed with chips, they looked hot and fresh and loads tastier. The super grain side was different in a good way, a nice change of pace. Nando's is decent enough. The folks working were friendly and nice. But in Leeds, shouldn't I have found a more local place to eat? Yup.

Even though this one is undoubtedly larger and spread across two floors, I can't stand how busy it is and how close you have to sit to the other diners. Anyway, this one is good if you need something to eat mid-shop and because of the size, you don't normally have to wait too long for a table.

I was a little put out by the price but it is a while since I've bought a kebab and inflation being what it is etc etc I coughed up the dough. What i got for my £4.50 was a do it yourself kebab. A pitta, a good amount of kebab meat, a container of salad and a container of chilli sauce which I was then able to take home and combine (At this stage I was rather relieved that I was a. sober and, b. not trying to eat my kebab as I walked the streets) The combined ingredients were good enough but not outstanding and the most telling factor was that last night I picked up a reduced kebab ready meal from the supermarket for £1 and it had exactly the same ingredients (except the salad), in the same quantities; took not much longer to put together and tasted better. I tried a pizza from here not so long ago but I decided it was a poor substitute for my regular pizzeria (just personal taste, I don't like a lot of grease)
