Kentucky Roll

What a great experience! The sushi rolls were all yummy and beautifully presented. Our server was very nice & attentive. It's a little loud in the restaurant with how open it is, but it's manageable.

Back again! And happy to report Osaka Sushi hasn't missed a beat. Fast, attentive, service. Exceptionally fresh fish served in a beautiful presentation. I ordered a sushi/sashimi sampler along with the ole standby-California roll. The wasabi was flaming hot, so use some caution if you mix it with soy sauce. The only "ding" would be too much dressing on the ginger side salad. Next time I'll ask them to go light, or served on the side. BTW, Osaka routinely has deals on Groupon, every little bit helps.

Paradox Roll, Derby Roll and Dragon Roll

Great sushi and even better when you have a Groupon. The paradox roll with avocado, cucumber and crab inside, with salmon & eel on top was our favorite! The derby roll with spicy crab, scallops & shrimp on top with sauce was great and they allow modifications so we got the dragon roll without cream cheese.

This place is THE coziest japanese restaurant to go to in Louisville. From the decor, to the warm greetings of the people taking your order, to the savory/fresh dishes, eating here is like getting a big hug through all 5 senses. I went with my partner and ordered the Miso Soup, Rainbow Roll (replaced shrimp with yellow tail) and a Vegetable Fried Rice. Listen. The fried rice is absolutely where it's at. You wanna talk savory? This is it. Flavor? Yes, it's all here. Quantity? Surely something that tastes so comforting and warm would be scarce. NOPE! They LOAD your plate with fried rice, it's like a compact mountain of deliciousness whose savory goodness pairs extremely well with the mellow, soothing flavor of their Miso Soup. Their Rainbow Roll was also very good, especially with the portion size. It has a fresh taste where it lets you know it was made the moment before it got to your table. I replaced the shrimp only because my partner is allergic to crawfish and I wanted her to try some, but I've had it with shrimp before and recommend you have it with it. I focused a lot on the comfortable vibes here because I think that's what Osaka excels at. Eating here is like going to visit your mom after a while and she makes you your favorite dish just how you remember it. Maybe you've had a better tasting version of it somewhere else, but this is MOM's cooking. Its flavors are great, the portion size is great, and it's made with love and care; with you in mind. For a modest price you get bang for your buck here, absolutely come give this place a try if you're in the area.

My favorite sushi place! Food and service is amazing as always! The ambiance is giving Japanese vibes. Check out my previous reviews! This place never disappoints!

I really enjoyed the variety and flavor of the sushi. I'm an avid hotate, raw scallop, enthusiast. Not being on the coast generally limits my ability in my travels to be able to find raw scallops. I was happy to find they did have this on their menu. The service was prompt and polite. The price was reasonable. I spent $42 for 3 rolls, a glass of wine and that included tip. The ambiance is simple, pleasant, quiet and fresh. I would eat here again.

We ordered (from left to right) Creamy Tuna Roll, Cherry Blossom Roll, Kimchi Roll, and Bang Bang Roll, and each of them were delicious!!! The staff were wonderful and timely. It is a quiet low key place. We went for lunch and it was wonderful timing. No waiting or crowds.

Was so happy to come back to my favorite sushi place! It had been a while since the last time I was here. We went on a Friday night around 7:30. Parking was a little difficult but I was able to snag a spot down the street. We were greeted & seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered a miso soup & ginger salad. A few minutes later both were on our table. We ordered the Osaka roll & romantic roll. Both were delicious & full of flavor. Love love love this place!

Decent sized miso soup-recommend. Massive egg fried rice. Sushi makes me feel joyful. Straws at the table are very convenient. Well decorated and spacious. Good staff. Fast service. -Warren (9) and Julienne (8)

I'm embarrassed to admit I lived in Louisville for nearly 6 years before venturing into Osaka. Never fear - now that I've discovered this sushi haven I will not be staying away. Our server was delightful, offering personal opinions and suggestions for our menu questions. When we inquired if certain items contained allergens she was very knowledgeable and knew straight away what could and couldn't be altered to fit our needs. We ordered: -Agedashi tofu (made without fish sauce) - one of the best things I've eaten in quite some time -Seaweed salad (such wonderful sesame dressing, such perfectly textured seaweed) -Vegetable teriyaki (my dining companion approved of both taste and texture) -Sweet potato avocado sushi. Oh the sushi - holy moly. I have never, Never, NEVER had such a delicious vegetarian sushi roll. The sweet potato is gently tempura fried, adding a crispy texture to the underlying sweetness. The avocado adds a creamy, cooling note, and the rice is perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of sticky to hold the whole glorious thing together. I could happily eat this roll every day (several times a day) for the foreseeable future. One added perk: currently as of the writing of this review there is a Groupon deal offering $30 of food for $17. Get this. Go now. Go often. But please don't eat all the sweet potato avocado rolls; those are mine.

Between the food and the amazing service from Ash, we had such a great experience. She definitely went above and beyond and deserves all the recognition!

It's summer and sizzly hot and electrical issues happen. We deal. This would easily have been overlooked if the service or the food had compensated. But our server could not have cared less about us and was aloof and cold, expressionless. Took forever to come to our table and barely checked on us the entire meal. Then, after waiting an eternity, we were both brought the wrong food. Yes, we each were served the wrong dish. We both had ordered scallops and we both got sashimi. We were so hungry that we simply went ahead and ate it so that we could get out of that place. Indifferent waiters do not HEAR well, apparently. I likely won't be back. There are simply too many other good sushi places in Louisville. This was more than simply "one bad night" for the restaurant, in my opinion. It was a composite of "yuck."

The second was completely off--overripe, heavy blackberry notes, clearly oxidized and not the same quality wine. This is what happens when a bottle has been open too long. When I pointed it out, instead of addressing it professionally, the server repeatedly insisted it was from the same bottle and argued with me. That's not just poor service--that's dismissive and borderline insulting. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I explicitly said I would pay for the glass and not drink it--which I did. I left the full glass on the table. At that point, the appropriate response would have been to move on. Instead, the argument continued. For context, I spent 22 years in the wine and spirits industry. I know the difference--but frankly, anyone could have smelled and tasted how off that wine was. I still paid and tipped 20%, but the issue isn't the charge--it's the way this was handled. Arguing with a customer instead of listening is unacceptable. Do better.

We had the Pork Gyoza and it was softly fried. It had great multiple flavors. The Cardinal Roll was fabulous and crazy amount of crab plopped on-top of the sushi. Great deal for your money. The Red Bull Sushi was way better than I thought it was going to be so it was a great surprise. It's Spicy Crab topped with small pieces of NY Steak. Super glad we got this and would definitely eat it again. Like we didn't have enough food already we also ordered Chicken hibachi as well as lobster and steak hibachi. The steak was very tender. The chicken was a little overcooked and hard, but still had good flavor. The lobster had great taste, but the shell was completely clean gutted and was mainly for show. The shell was a too cleaned out for it being directly out of this specific shell. Not sure if it's for show, but the lobster was almost tender like and not just one big piece of lobster. I would recommend this place.
