Front desk was friendly, the dental office/equipment looked modern, and the dentists were efficient. Each procedure was explained and front desk helped with scheduling and often notifying for upcoming appointments. So the reason why I stopped going... I had a filling redone due to it coming off. However, I had pain around the same tooth for months. I couldn't eat on that side at all. I went back in for checkups to see if they can figure out what's going on. The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.

I was assigned to this dental clinic through Kaiser Permanente Medicare when I recently returned to…read morethe U.S. Based on the clinic's online information and services, I initially thought this would be a good dental office not only for myself but also for my relatives who recently relocated from New York. Unfortunately, my experience trying to contact the office for an appointment was very disappointing. I called three times over three days and left voicemails requesting a callback, but I never received one. On my third voicemail, I calmly mentioned that if I still did not receive a response, I would request Kaiser Medicare to reassign me to another dentist. I eventually received a return call from a male representative, but the interaction was unexpectedly rude and unprofessional from the beginning. When I answered the call, the male representative immediately responded in an irritated tone, asking, "What would you like from us?" After I politely asked who I was speaking with, he replied, "From the dental office. We're on lunch break. If you can't reach us, keep trying or ask AI to call us." I explained that I understood they were on lunch break, but that I had already left messages on three separate days and was expecting a callback. When I asked for his name, he refused, saying I "didn't need to know" it. The call ended when he hung up on me shortly after I informed him that I would contact KP Medicare to request a change of dental provider. I have interacted with many medical and dental offices both in the U.S. and abroad, and professional phone etiquette is usually standard practice. Sadly, this experience left a very negative first impression before I even became a patient. When I went to Yelp to review the feedback, I found that several of us have received unpleasant treatment from this clinic. I hope this clinic improves its communication and customer service moving forward, as professionalism and courtesy are extremely important in healthcare.

The team pays close attention to comfort and always checks in if there's any discomfort or pain. Nothing ever feels rushed, and there's no pressure to purchase unnecessary services or products. The staff--both front desk and clinical--are professional, efficient, and genuinely friendly. Communication is clear, and everything is handled smoothly from check-in to treatment. The clinic itself is modern, clean, and well-equipped. The setup is thoughtful, with TVs positioned in front of you while seated and even one above when you're lying down, which makes visits more comfortable. Location is also convenient, right across Serramonte Center, with its own parking lot--easy access every time. I've stayed with them even after becoming out-of-network due to a change in insurance. That alone says enough about the quality of care they provide.

Cleaning: When was the last time your dentist did your teeth cleaning?? Personally, I'm not sure I've ever had a dentist give me a cleaning! It was a nice touch. Exam: She was gentle and thorough with her exam. Dr. Gandingco also explained to me what she was seeing, which was really helpful in terms of making me more aware of little changes I could make at home to improve my dental health. She was thoughtful, requesting comparison x-rays as I'm a new patient to her office before she made her final clinical diagnosis. Billing: She has her office staff request price quotes from insurance so there are no financial surprises. In the future, I'll just make sure to start that process ahead of my appointment. Location: It's in Westlake Shopping Center, in the dental building. The building itself is definitely dated but the suite inside was clean and fine. It is street parking, but there was enough free street parking and the parking lot which I could have utilized if needed. I'm so glad that I found Dr. Gandingco!

It really pains me to write this review, but after over a decade with Dr. Benton, I've quit this…read morepractice and don't recommend it to anyone. The problems here started years ago, with Dr. Benton frequently not practicing from the office. Instead, she leaned heavily on the hygienists and video assessments, with the hygienists using a camera to send her photos. I was not having issues beyond minor cavities and this didn't bother me at the time, especially during the pandemic. I then needed a cavity filled, which was done poorly by Dr. Benton. I couldn't floss properly between my teeth without catching on it, and the filling fell out quickly and had to be redone by another dentist who was temporarily at the practice. I continued to go for x-rays and cleanings three times a year, to keep on top of gum recession. At my last visit in December, a new hygienist there did a terrible job; she was dipping her fingers in my mouth and dragging my drool all over my face without seeming to notice, and forgot to put fluoride on my teeth even after having a conversation with me about how much I needed it. All the while, telling me what a mess my mouth is and pointing out problems left and right, including telling me my gum recession had worsened significantly and that my back molar was visibly decaying. I was very alarmed to hear about these sudden and severe escalations, after all my previous visits being fine. I questioned her suggestion that my back molar was decaying. After sending digital images and a quick phone call with Dr. Benton, the hygienist informed me that the back molar would need to be removed and they'd refer me to an oral surgeon. I was horrified to get this news without a dentist ever actually looking at my teeth, and said I would think about it. After going home from that visit, my gums were painfully inflamed for weeks; I thought maybe she was right and something was seriously wrong with my mouth, but it went away after a round of antibiotics for another issue. I decided to look for a second opinion and I'm glad I did. After a recent consultation with a new dentist, NONE of the issues that hygienist flagged were present. Dr. Benton had remotely recommended ORAL SURGERY on a tooth that turned out to be perfectly healthy! I trusted Dr. Benton with my teeth for many years, and I'm sad to now warn people away from this practice. The only upside I see at this point is that she still takes Delta Dental, or she did when I was last there a year ago. And in general, I appreciate her office's continued caution regarding the spread of illness. But I don't think that's worth it to see someone who quickly, casually, and virtually pushes unnecessary oral surgery.
