Dr Trucksess was very rude and condescending during my appointment. She spent maybe 5 minutes with me either dismissing and/or ignoring what I had to say about my symptoms. I have never come across a doctor with such a negative, dismissive bedside manner. read more

My husband and I waited over a month to see Dr. Trucksess. The office called seconds before we had to walk out the door for our appointment to move our appointment times as the doctor was running late. We asked for our appointments to be moved together (they had been booked back to back so we could travel together in one vehicle) but they couldn't or wouldn't do that. I ended up cancelling my appointment so my husband could take mine and get back to work on time. After reading all the reviews it seems this is standard operating procedure for this office. Apparently only the doctors time is important. I think I will find another doctor even though I saw Dr. Trucksess many years ago and liked her as a person. read more

First of all I have to say that the one of the receptionists at the from desk was very nasty, unprofessional. Throwing papers like a total nut. Long wait time. I left and will not go there again. OrthoVirginia (Physical Therapy) in Reston is top-notch! I broke my wrist in a bicycle accident and needed to have a titanium plate implanted. My specialist, Dr. Daniel Laino, provided me with an extensive list of physical therapists. I selected Karen Popovich, OT, CHT, based on her occupational therapy experience and office location. Absolute best decision. Before being under Karen's care, I never gave much credit to the benefits of physical therapy. She proved me wrong by putting me through intense, yet super effective twice-weekly treatments for four months. At the end of my first appointment, Karen provided me with a sheet of exercises I needed to do in-between appointments and explained why it was in my best interest to do them. She always greeted me with a smile and offered me encouragement. During every session, she explained the meaning of the measurements she took and recorded, and how they related to my progress. The PT area itself is a large room that contains a lot of the latest and greatest PT tools. The woman at the front desk was always sweet and cheerful no matter how busy or overwhelmed. The staff all had a great team mentality -- many times they coordinated theme days like plaid shirt day, favorite sports team jersey day, etc. It was fun and put me at ease showing up and seeing what theme the staff chose and who was wearing what. There is plenty of parking, but spaces fill up fast (my appointments were always in the morning). NOTE: I booked my appointments a month at a time because the morning spots filled up very fast. read more

I never made it through the door of OrthoVirginia because the staff were incredibly difficult to deal with. The phone numbers listed on the website never seem to direct me exactly where I need to go, and when I do speak to their employees, they are rude and act like I am inconveniencing them by making them do their job. Terrible. Malpractice maybe - or just an oppsies? A herniation in my back is the guess; I received a script for an L5 back MRI. The secretary faxed in a script from my file from 3 years back - for my hip. I called the MRI center and they said -ok we just want to make sure that this is for the hip? And I said no, its for the back. So then I had to call, (the phone systems are a mess) and then ask them to resend the back script for the MRI. They confirmed that they resent the back script. Fast forward to the MRI, the MRI center did my hip without my knowing. When it came time to read the MRI (which took 2 weeks to get in for a reading) the doctor's office said it was of my hip. I called the MRI center and they confirmed that they never received the back MRI script from Dr. Trucksess' office. Seriously? Had to jump through hoops and go through another month of not knowing. Save yourself time, headache's and potential further injuries and go elsewhere. I wish I did. read more

I am a fan because my surgery went very well and Dr. Madden is excellent. I am a new person due to avery successful full knee replacement. The only complaint I have was the front desk and the individual who provided all the information I would need prior to surgery She was very cold and robotic. If I had a choice of where I wanted the service to shine, it would definitely be in the OR and that's what I received. Thank you Dr. Madden!! read more

The worst customer service and the least helpful staff I have ever encountered. Sarah who fills out the forms for insurance and disability should simply be fired for her incompetence. There is no follow through and does not even return a phone call. If she is that swamped, then they need to hire more people. The continuous lies by the staff that she is not available is just absurd. The Doctors and nurses are great but the administrative staff are simply horrible. Who ever the office manager is, he/she needs to take note of this and find a solution, patients have enough to deal with, that they don't need to be given a hard time for simple forms to be filled out. Originally saw Dr. Madden for Hip Pain. Very friendly knowledgeable and funny. His demeanor really put me at ease that my issue would be taken care of. When X-rays of my hips showed some bone spurs, he ordered MRIs which showed FAI. He explained the situation and advised me to see Dr. Parker who I ended up having surgery for FAI with. Simply said, Dr. Parker is "da man". As a multi sport athlete, I have seen my fair share of orthopedists and Dr. Parker is the one that I will return to again! Along with his PA Kim Snow, Dr. Parker is friendly, attentive, and compassionate (not to mentioned very experienced having done around 3,000 scopes). They do not tell you what you need done. They work with you to exhaust all options to return you to your lifestyle. When I was diagnosed they worked with me to make a treatment plan instead of dictating to me what had to be done. After considering all conservative options I opted for surgery. One day after hip surgery I was on my crutches moving around a mall. 12 weeks after surgery I was ice skating and returned back to playing ice hockey after 4.5 months. Dr. Parker and Kim have an amazing bedside manner and and combine to make a great surgical team that gets results. You won't be disappointed and there's a reason why he is hard to get an appointment with. But the wait for an appointment is worth it. When I had questions, Kim would return my call within a few hours and got my problems addressed with Dr. Parker when necessary. During my treatment, I also had an elbow issue that required a MRI. Realizing that I was heading to Australia for two weeks and wouldn't be available; Dr. Parker took time out of his busy schedule to get a hold of me before my trip to discuss my MRI. He truly went above and beyond. I went through Rehab with Barb and Allison in the Reston office. Can not speak to how great they are from a bedside and knowledge standpoint. Along with the aides, they make the Rehab experience low key and fun (as possible). Mostly importantly, they tailor the rehab for what you need. I needed to return to ice hockey. The strength and flexibility that I gained has been remarkable. After six years, I am playing pain free with a range of motion that I never had. I can not thank them and Dr. Parker enough. read more

had revision knee replacement by OrthoVa MD at Regional Memorial August, 2015; complained of pain and instability for a year at every follow up visit and in August, 2016 at annual apt, again complained and was told there was "mild loosening but nothing remarkable" on x-ray-and that I "just need to loose weight and get exercise"- three weeks later, family took me to ER, with fever, unable to bear weight on leg and excruciating pain. Same doctor was on call in ER, was notified and he ordered nurse practitioner to send me home, that he had just seen me. Nurse told family not to bring me back and not to go to St. Mary's "as OrthoVa is on call there as well" - she circled MCV on discharge paperwork; and few hours later on Sunday afternoon, MCV had performed labs, and said sepsis was in knee and prepared me for emergency surgery, MCV doctor who performed surgery stated worse case of sepsis he had seen, that it had been in knee for months or over year, that the knee replacement was done poorly and that I was in danger of death within days. Incident reported to CEO at OrthoVA and he was quite nonchalant stated they had numerous lawyers that would defend their doctor. End of relationship with OrthoVa and now I have others tell me similar stories. Need Ortho work- go to MCV. read more

Over the past 2 years I've seen Dr. Trucksess and Dr. Laino. Both were easy to talk to and both solved physical issues I was having. I've seen them for foot, wrist and back issues. This is a busy practice and it can take longer to get an appointment than most people would like. I get that, but the care you receive when you see the doctor is top-notch. Convenient location next to the hospital and surgery center. Dr. Trucksess might be the nicest doctor I've ever seen! read more

Love dr Parker but I dread having to go to the office. Always an hour or more past appt time before you see a doctor. Every. Single. Time.

This use to be the PLACE TO GO. I started going to this office 22 years ago, since then I have taken my parents, my son and my husband. It is SAD to see how regard for "patients" has become "0". Commonwealth Orthopaedics was GREAT, Orthovirginia is NOT. Now I understand it costs $6.00 to park. You all need to COME IN FOR A REALITY CHECK!!!!!! read more

I recently had shoulder surgery by Dr. Parker and I cannot say enough good about him and his PA, Kim. I had some post-op problems (not because of him!) and he went out of his way to help me in any way that he could. I also have the privilege of working with each of the physicians and PA's in the Reston office and I can say without reserve that they all treat their patients with concern, compassion and with excellent medical/surgical care. If the situation permits there is humor infused into your appt that aids in making the visits less stressful. Top notch orthopedic practice. I referred my kids to this group so that should be testament to how good I think this practice is. read more

My initial visit was ok. I had a cyst drained on my wrist and was told I could have surgery if needed (all information should have been given to me at this visit, especially when Dr. Laino discussed surgery with me). The draining was not done properly and only lasted one day (at a ridiculous cost.) I wanted the surgery and was told by the front desk that I need to make an appointment (therefore I thought there was more to scheduling the surgery or maybe there was more to my situation? - nope!) When I came in for the appointment, Dr. Laino seemed very prepared in handing me a business card of who to schedule with. At first I couldn't stop thinking about how much of a waste of time from work I took off for a under 1min appointment, but then I was charged an outrageous doctors visit fee for something that could have been handled by the front desk, or a simple call or email to the doctor. This was the most unbelievable appointment I had ever gone to, and trying to get in touch with the doctor or billing department is impossible. I would not have surgery at a place that cannot give simple information to the patient the first time around. I would expect better from what seems to be a sought after place. read more

The front desk staff are awful. The doctors are great, but there are too many good doctors in this area to be treated like dirt by the front office staff. Example: I had an appointment in the Reston office. The entrance to their building has been closed due to construction. Plus parking there is a mess. Long story short, I was late for my appointment. I check in at their 4th floor office and was told to have a seat. A few minutes later, I was told my appointment as at their office on the floor below. When I got to the correct office I was told that I was too late and I would have to reschedule. They said they tried to call me at home, but there was no answer. I informed them that is because I was sitting in their other office. Needless to say they would not see me so I will not be returning. read more

First of all, this rating is ONLY based on my recent experience with Dr. "Cut now" Madden and his joint replacement coordinator. I saw a physicians assistant out of the Fair Oaks office regarding a back injury in 2009 and they were fantastic. So anyway, I felt I had to get my story out. If it helps just one person, then I've done my job. Back in early December, I saw Dr. Madden regarding bad knee pain in both knees. 20 years ago, I had surgery on both knees and I lost a ton of range of motion, and never got it back. When I got there, they took x-rays, and after a little while, Dr. Madden came in. While he seemed very nice, he looked at my x-rays for about 3 seconds and immediately said I needed knee replacement surgery on both knees. He said that during surgery, he could "probably" get my range of motion back, but it may never be like it was before. He said my x-rays showed bone on bone, and I had no other choice other than surgery. When I asked about possibly getting a cortisone injection, Madden's response was this: "Well, if you were playing in the big game this weekend, then we would do it, but otherwise we try and stay away from that." Oh that's nice you sexist piece of crap. So because I'm not a football player then I don't deserve some pain relief? They set me up to see the joint replacement coordinator a few weeks later to discuss everything. Needless to say, I was blown away and completely overwhelmed. I saw the coordinator in early January, and she also said my knees were bone on bone. She seemed very annoyed at all the questions I was asking as well. I was in a complete panic. Not only did I need to start saving up vacation days, but I needed to save up some extra money as well. I felt like they just ran me over with a truck. And apparently, they told me that I didn't need to see Dr. Madden until the date of the surgery. WTF? Who does that? I called quite a few times to get someone to answer my ongoing questions, but it was like pulling teeth. No one would call me back. So needless to say, I started to look for another ortho surgeon closer to where I live. I found one, and was able to see him in late February. I wasn't going for a second opinion, as I TRUSTED Madden that he was telling me the truth about my bone on bone knees, I just wanted another doctor to help me. I was wrong. The doctor that I saw immediately said, "You absolutely don't need this surgery, and I am livid that this other doctor you saw even suggested it. First of all, you are way too young (I just turned 39). Second of all, you just don't need it. Your x-rays do NOT show bone on bone. They are a bit worn down, but you still have cartilage." He then took the time to not only show me someone else's x-ray that did in fact show bone on bone (my x-ray was NO WHERE near that), he took about 20 minutes and worked with me. He discovered that my quad muscles were in very bad shape (and if I had the surgery I would've been screwed because of this) and he also diagnosed with me patella tendinitis. He prescribed lots of physical therapy. He was visibly outraged that Madden didn't even suggest PT or any other kind of medicine to help with the pain. Today was just my 3rd session, and I have shown signs of tremendous improvement already. On my first day, my left leg needed another 20 degrees more to get it straight. Today I am 8 degrees! My right knee was 8 degrees and now it's ZERO! The pain is already going down. Suck on it, Madden! Bottom line here folks, is that Madden and his crew just wants to cut, with no feelings to the patient at all. What infuriates me the most is that BOTH him and his joint coordinator LIED to me about my knees being bone on bone. I just thank god that I decided to go elsewhere. I have to wonder how many people had to go through this surgery (or any other surgery that he suggested) and not have to need it. I also called my insurance company on him, and they were very interested to hear my story. So please be careful with this doctor. He only cares about cutting people open and making money. read more

Amazing people,....my physician is Dr.Mazahery and I can just tell you straight that I have had nothing but excellent care from him as a physician but also with the staff at this practice. I had back fusion surgery and ran into a ton of obstacles with insurance. I did have a bit of leg work to do myself, talking with the office and then with my insurance, but my doctor was always concerned about what was going on with insurance issues as we were being held responsible for 100% of the bill. I asked him to help, and so he did. A highly uncommon behavior amongst most physicians I have dealt with. He made some calls, which got the ball rolling and his office staff, specifically ms. Marshall started researching what was happening. After her many phone calls, and hours of effort, it was resolved. This kind of effort and care to handling a patients concerns, and even insurance battles, is so uncommon. I was so grateful for my doctor who took the time to care and "get involved" and the office personnel that put forth the effort to find answers. My back feels so much better after this surgery...thank you Dr. Mazahery. And my headaches with insurance have gone away...thank you. It is nice to know I found a doctor and practice that truly care about the whole patient. Many hugs to you all. read more
