About three weeks ago, I had an appointment at Ortho Virginia, Reston, in Reston Medical Center. Walking into the fourth floor office, I was hit, Bam!, with a brick wall of sickeningly sweet fragrance. I am asthmatic, like many of you -- and as *some* of you know, air fresheners cause asthma, but also cancer, infertility, immune disorders, and hormone alteration. Some of you don't believe me, so read the studies listed below. They are the tiniest tip of the iceberg. Air-fresheners contain acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methylene chloride, and phthalates in an aerosolized oil which soaks into your lungs ... yes ... but also your carpet, furniture, walls, and clothing -- these *oil* micro-particles emit long after the air freshener has been unplugged. Why would a *doctor's* office like Ortho Virginia, Reston, not know this ? Sure, they only deal with bones, but to be ignorant of basic toxicology and indoor air quality ? They take our money anyway, though, don't they ? I walked out of my appointment with these simple-minded idiots. Don't you make one to begin with. (A *tiny*, *partial* list of the caustic, toxic-air-freshener-chemical-science, with web addresses. Watch Dr. Yvonne Burkart first, easiest, then move on to the rest. I know, the world is *not* what it seems.) **************************************** Potera, Carol. "Scented products emit a bouquet of VOCs." Had to visit Ortho Virginia and thank goodness my favorite doctor Antonis had availability at the Tysons Office saving me a long drive to Fairfax (he doesn't work at Reston although I hope he will at the new Ashburn location coming soon). My thumb and elbow have been aching for weeks and my chiro suggested imaging done. Located just past Tysons Corner, there is ample indoor parking and a quick visit to upstairs where check-in and out are on opposite sides of the floor ( a bit curious). Fast check-in, imaging and then Dr Antonis with the verdict and his recommendations which I always follow. Great Doctor always taking time to listen and recommend.

    After the replacement surgery.

Love dr Parker but I dread having to go to the office. Always an hour or more past appt time before you see a doctor. Every. Single. Time.

I visited for an acute hand injury and the office verified my insurance before the appointment, but no one informed me that a PCP referral was required for coverage. After the visit, the claim was denied and I was left with a $520 bill that was eventually sent to collections, forcing me to go through months of appeals with my insurer and even the Virginia Bureau of Insurance. During that process it became clear that the claim was submitted as a specialist office visit and not coded as urgent care, even though the visit was for an acute injury. The state review indicated the provider could submit a corrected claim for reconsideration, but the billing office never corrected or resubmitted it. This entire situation could have been avoided with basic communication or proper billing follow-up. If I had been informed upfront that a referral was required, I would have simply obtained one. Patients should not have to deal with collections and regulatory appeals because of administrative oversights and lack of transparency.

It was bound to fail (again), and I was okay with that even if I thought it was just going to waste time. These are the steps I thought I had to go through -- I even told that to the kind folks here at my initial intake visit (including the part that I only chose them because they were closest to my house!). Little did I know I was in for a serious attitude adjustment. The people at Physical Restoration took my perspective as some sort of challenge...and won handily. Yes, my physical state was a mess -- I'm fighting an ongoing problem, and I really needed help, and luckily somehow found a place at random that was willing to do what I needed to have done. I've long since fired the original doc who sent me here, but kept the physical therapist! Lori and Marc really do care about the people who walk through the door. Even the patients cheer eachother on. Don't get me wrong -- Miracle Workers do not exist. But good, hard-working, caring, and intelligent ones do. If you put in the effort here, it won't be wasted. That's all anyone can really expect. It's certainly more than I ever did and I'm now in better shape than I have been in years. I got lucky when I chose their door to walk through, but you can actually choose them on purpose.

I hurt myself during the birth of my first child 19 years ago by tearing muscles in my back and glutes that destabilized my lower spine. I was in excruciating pain. The only therapist who could ever relieve my pain was Melanie. I have been her patient for several other injuries because she's the only one I trust. I love that she's hands on! Currently, I have pain in the left side and back of my left leg, which makes it difficult for me to walk. I'm able to use other therapists with zero charge for my insurance, but I choose Melanie because I'd rather pay some money out-of-pocket than to waste my time with other therapists who are unfortunately not as capable and knowable as Melanie. When I wasn't able to consult Melanie, I visited four therapists, an OMM doctor, and a great chiropractor, but Melanie is the only one who could fix my pain. I cannot say enough about how amazing, professional, knowledgeable, and kind Melanie is. You are in very good and capable hands with her.

I ultimately decided to continue care with and in-network provider but getting records from VSI was a pain. They have an online patient portal with mostly empty tabs. I called to request my xrays and they can't upload them so I requested a CD to pickup. The CD wasn't ready when they said it would be and I had to wait 15 min for it. For my original appointment most of the few bins of snacks for patients were empty. Not a big deal, but shows poor management. I used them years ago and had a good experience, which is why I went back, but my opinion has changed
