I had major Basil Thumb Arthroplasty done in July and now my whole hand is hurting every day and my wrist is extremely limited in movement. I should have had mobility back at 6 weeks but instead I'm working with a deformed hand. I was told multiple times I did not need therapy. I finally sought another doctor to help me. I could not recommend this facility!! Beware!!! At this point my hand will most likely never be right, so I'm working to get it to the best I can! read more

I moved here from Alaska only to find the best knee surgeon ever and his amazing staff. They are always pleasant and super sweet. I never felt out of place or that I didn't belong. Dr. Thomas and I came up with a game plan for an upcoming knee replacement and I feel confident that this time it will resolve my issues unlike from a previous experience. I walked out knowing exactly what was going on, never confused. He spent the time making sure I was aware of options and the plan to resolve my Ortho issues. His NP Chris was just as knowledgeable and took the extra time to go over all questions or concerns as well. He was professional and pleasant as well. Logan, the leading lady, lol. She is the one that make all the calls, answers questions and set up the procedures. She is the doctor's medical assistant. Whenever I needed clearance for work, or simply had further questions or concerns regarding insurance, a procedure or whatever, she always responded in a timely fashion and that has always been important to me. Logan never left me hanging and I appreciated her timely response. She is a total sweetheart and my go to for everything!! read more

I went to Ortho Georgia in September because I was having pain in my foot. I went to Dr. C and didn't get any results. He referred me back to my primary doctor. She didn't find anything so I called to get an appointment with another doctor because I was not pleased with the first doctor. I was told that Dr. C had to agree for me to go another doctor. I said I pay for my visits so how does he decide who I can see. The gentleman said that's policy. Again, I pay for my services so how does he control who i can see. Very disappointing! read more

This is only my second ever review. I just have to this time I've had a lot of surgeries. Too many for my age. Every single time it was a terrible/torturous experience. But this last surgery I had (5/20/24) for my wrist and thumb was literally the best I have ever come out of anestheia. I did still need extra time to recover but I was able to go home that same evening and not stay the extra 23hr. I have a lot if Ptsd from previous experience but not this time. I can't remember the anestheiologist's name but I literally want her every single time. Her way of treatment works like no other. And she really listened to me. The night time nurses were so friendly. They didn't make me feel guilty for needing to stay. Its usually an out patient surgery. But because of how terrible I come out I need the 23hr stay. Every other experience I was sent home way too soon even with me saying I'm not ok to leave yet. So they could either open a room or go home for the night. What started out as "I don't trust this I'm about to walk out" because of some poor bedside manner from a different nurse - turned into so much gratitude and trust again. Thank you again for those on case. Dr Floyd was my surgeon. He also listened to me. First time ever a surgeon took what I said and adjusted certain things - as a example - I asked for no nerve block because I also have a lot of bad side effects from those. Anyway I could go and on with praises. Oh which reminds me there was one gentleman who was on my night care for some portion and he also deserves some recognition, he went above and beyond normal bedside manner. I had a visit and was recommended for physical therapy. Was told to by physicians assistant to reach back out if it did not work out so we could pursue other alternatives. Pt didn't result in much and generally just aggravated the problem. I've been calling and emailing for 2-3 weeks. Office staff unhelpful and indifferent. Hey, Kate B- I've been calling ( the number you provided) and emailing you at two emails, and still no response from Kieth Grant. How about ya'll calling me? I saw Dr. Lee for my knee in September 2022 and got a cortisone shot. The pain returned last month and I asked to change to a different doctor because I didn't care for Dr. Lee's demeanor. No doctor - NOT ONE - would agree to take me because "they can't do any more for you than Dr. Lee." They can't do anything more than a cortisone shot? I have no cartilage in my knee! Are they afraid it would hurt Dr. Lee's feelings or make him mad if I switched doctors? I have never heard of a medical practice where you can't switch doctors. The staff, are rude and act uncaring. I would recommend not getting anything done at OrthoGA. Moreover, the Doctors do not explain anything. it's a true guessing game. They never even call to ask how you're doing. The care is not thoroughly done. Medical situations are not carefully look at (overlooked). such as, I was experiencing severe pain in my shoulder I was ordered physical therapy to control the pain. I ended up in the emergency room with the worst pain I have ever experienced I went to another surgeon to get another opinion. I was diagnosed with a complete rotary cuff tear. know I'm scheduled for a rotary cuff reconstruction The only way to repair it is with a mesh. I somehow got my appointment time mixed up and arrived at their office at 9:45 for my 10:10 appointment when the appointment was at 2:10. I checked in and sat there till about 10:45 when I went to the desk to verify my appointment time. The big black girl who had me sign the register when I arrived finally told me about the error in what time my appointment was. It is to bad people can do the job that they are getting paid to do. After watching for over an hour I'm wondering if it wasn't a race thing. Anyway I'll never go back there for anything. The doctor I had seen for many appointments would just exist me and tell me it wasn't healed and to come back in two weeks. read more

My experience was ridiculous and it's too long to record here. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. This establishment treats people poorly. I have taken my children here for many visits. We come on time, to every appointment. We also pay a lot of money for X-rays and casts. On one occasion, it had slipped my mind about an appointment. I was an hour late in realizing my error (I work at an elementary school and was working hard with students at the time). I called, apologized for my error, offered to pay the fee, and rescheduled for that day. Once I arrived, the front desk didn't have any record that I called or had an appointment scheduled. They accused me of just walking in and showing up. I asked to speak with the nurse. The receptionist told the nurse "this woman overlooked her appointment and just showed up." Not true. As I defended myself and apologized, yet again, the nurse is speaking with other nurses saying I kept rescheduling and just showed up expecting to be worked in. Again, not true. The receptionist I spoke with on the phone earlier gave me the appointment and when I arrived and was told I couldn't be seen until the next week, I asked to get worked in. At this point, I had already paid Ortho Ga about 600.00 that day, and 200.00 when we came in with the broken arm. The only thing that made getting treated like crap a little better was the fact that we were worked in. I also paid another 600.00 because the deductible had not been met yet. This is for a fracture. Not a compound fracture. 2 sets of X-rays, a regular cast, and a removable cast. Now, we are at the 6 week appointment and I am paying 200.00 because my 3k deductible hasn't been met. That is fine. but the icing on the cake is I was given a form to sign that said I would have to pay a no show fee if I didn't show up for an appointment. It's a new policy but also passive aggressive. Fine. It makes me wonder what "notes" are in their system. I'm sure completely false and no accountability for the way they have rudely treated patients. When we are finished with this broken arm, I will be taking business to another establishment. Ortho Ga has bled me dry on top of treating me poorly. If anyone who works at Ortho Ga sees this and wants to chat, I welcome the call. read more

This was my first time at OrthoGeorgia and I was super impressed. Dr Patel, Tameka, Mo, Dr Joe and the rest of his staff from check in all the way thru recovery were the best group EVER. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr Patel and staff. I had emergency surgery on Tuesday and everything went just as he explained it would. If you are stressed about surgery don't be Dr Patel and staff will put you at ease and have you laughing the entire time. read more

I saw Dr Richard McKibben today for some electrode nerve tests on my arm. the entire time I was there, he mocked me saying it should hurt because I "have tattoos and piercings so this should feel like nothing." I was crying my eyes out during the entire appointment while he told me I was dramatic, said I was over​reacting, kept telling me to "stop crying and stop moving". I had an anxiety attack for an hour and a half because of how horrifying this was for me and how much he kept pestering me to calm down when I was very clearly distressed. he was extremely unprofessional and rude, not to mention how traumatizing this entire experience was for me. don't see Dr McKibben unless you want an hours worth of PTSD. read more

Dr. Robinson & his staff, along with the associate staff who checked me in, the staff who assisted in my pre-surgical care, the staff who assisted in my post surgical care including those in the casting department, the re-casting department, the physical therapy department who made me feel so very comfortable for another casting, because they are desperate to keep me from messing up the surgery Dr. Robinson performed on my left hand, each of these teams & individuals ARE THE BEST. I've had so many surgeries & "procedures" that I know what I'm talking about. Dr. Robinson took the time to LISTEN TO ME. I hope someone with upper extremity issues reads this and realizes what a gift that is. Empathy is a very RARE ABILITY but Dr. Robinson & ALL THE ASSOCIATES MENTIONED ABOVE HAVE IT. It is important that you find the right people to give you the care you need and deserve. I swear by my statement. read more

LET ME SAY THIS: Coming to GA with medical issues was scary, would I find anyone good???? TODAY WAS THE BEST MEDICAL DAY!!!! I wish I would say everything is fine, I will need surgery, but I finally have a diagnosis: Carpal tunnel and Osteoarthritis. ANYONE who needs a hand specialist/orthopedist I recommend Dr Robinson at ORTHOGA in Macon, GA. Not only did I get the diagnosis but it was EXPLAINED to me in an easy to follow, easy to understand way. The future dos hold surgery, wrist fusion and carpal tunnel surgery, BUT I'm not sure I've EVER trusted a Dr in such a confident way! And here's the best.......I had to move from Rhode Island to Georgia to find a great hand surgeon......who went to Brown University in Rhode Island!!!!! read more

I gave them a 3 star but only because of the caring doctors and nurses.If it were just for the front desk they would get a 2 star rating.I am a disabled Vet and come in often for care.I see a spinal chord specialist and a knee specialist.Saturday I came in for urgent care.I had recently been in a car wreck and was having alot of pain due to injuries sustained at that time.The clerk at the front desk wouldn't even sign me in.Apparently she is a licensed physician and immediately diagnosed me.She told me they couldnt do anything and to go to Navicent for care.I dont know what the criteria for care is but apparently close to death is required and not severe pain... read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My dad had an appointment with Dr. Blackwell today for a wrist that's been giving him issues. My dad informed him that he'd recently had x-rays taken at the urgent care. Dr. Blackwell insisted on taking X-rays even though my dad voiced concerns about the insurance paying for another set. Dr. Blackwell stepped out and within an earshot told his nurse "I don't care if they (insurance) do charge him, do another set of x-rays". Even after all of this (and no conclusion from the x-rays) Dr. Blackwell did not offer PT because "my dad seemed to be doing well." He only offered a shot which my dad did not want. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. I will make sure my dad has a visit to a reputable doctor in Atlanta. read more

My husband fell and broke his wrist, we have a health savings plan that reimburses us for medical needs. They would not even see him because we are considered "self pay" and we had to go to the ER when the hospitals really don't want anyone coming who can go elsewhere for treatment due to COVID cases. read more

Came in they had me fill in the same paperwork that I completed last week. And no it wasn't because of the new year. I'm not sure what happened with the people with bad reviews. This is my honest review. I had a unsuccessful back surgery out of Athens. Went to OrthoGeorgia and saw Dr Dasher. He is a good man and great Dr. But let me back up and say the front desk people have always been polite and professional. I have not ever had to wait more than 10 minutes before my name was called to go see the Dr. It was determined I needed a "clean out" surgery. Basically take it all out and do it over. Dr Dasher and his staff were able to get me into to surgery in a timely manner. It required me being in the hospital Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. At 5:00 AM Christmas Day Dr Dasher was at my bed side checking on me!!!!!! I was overwhelmed. He actually came everyday I was there. My previous surgeon came to see me once. I was so relieved that my family member received such wonderful orthopedic surgical care at OrthoGeorgia. His surgeon, Dr. Pope, was excellent. Every step of the way, the doctor and his staff did everything to make the experience as simple and comfortable as possible. The surgery has transformed the quality of his life. More than ten years of progressive difficulty walking, crippling in the end, was erased in a very short time. The positive outcome of the surgery was far more than we could have hoped. I recently came to OrthoGA cuz of knee problems. I found out they had a hand specialist, Dr. Blackwell. I simply asked for an appointment and was given one. Upon seeing Dr. Blackwell he thoroughly explained Carpal Tunnel to me and how it is repaired. He immediately ordered a nerve study. Upon diagnosis he scheduled the first surgery which has been a complete success with minimal pain and discomfort afterwards. I saw immediate results following the surgery. I have reported the symptoms to my regular physicians for years with no tests or treatments. Thank you Dr. Blackwell, you are awesome. read more

I've been to OrthoGeorgia many times through the years for myself and different family members and have always had a positive experience until my latest visit. The nurse practitioner I saw seemed caring, thorough and very knowledgeable. My complaint is with the receptionist who presented as impatient, rude and dismissive. She should thank Jesus I wasn't feeling the same way. She even asked me, "well, what do you want us to do?". I'm not a doctor, lady, if I knew what to do I wouldn't be here, you can bet on that. I've read complaints on this and other sites about their receptionists. Either OrthGeorgia doesn't read reviews or they don't care. If the receptionist is the face of OrthoGeorgia, then it's an ugly one. read more

OrthoGeorgia is the perfect example of quantity over quality. This is a high-volume medical group that requires massive amounts of people to come through each day to literally keep the lights on. On each of my three unrelated visits an X-ray was ordered (prior to even seeing a doctor), followed by an average visit time of less than 3 minutes. On my last visit I was misdiagnosed by an orthopedist with no training in the area of his diagnosis - two unaffiliated specialists both determined his error. I was then billed twice for the same visit, and the burden of proof to correct this was upon me, which I did. OrthoGeorgia and its physicians aren't just bad - they are dangerously incompetent. read more

To start, each appointment I have had to wait over an hour to get called back, then had to wait another fifteen plus minutes for the provider to come in. Once the provider came in, they were in the room less than 2 minutes. I wasn't even given an opportunity to speak and ask questions! I had appointment with Dr. Slappey (OrthoGeorgia) on Monday November 1, 2021, at 3:30 to check my neck and shoulder. When i got to the office, i had my MRI report for my shoulder and my neck on a CD, plus complete written report from radiologist. I was called by a nurse: i believe she was working at the x ray department; she informed me that i needed to get a X-ray. I asked her why i have my MRI. Had doctor slappey reviewed my MRI? She said he had not; moreover, she stated that it is our procedure that you must get X-ray before Dr Slappey can see you. I asked her to check with Dr slappey she came back and informed me that I must get a X-ray before he can see me. Furthermore, I was scheduled to check my neck and shoulder; the nurse told me that I had to choose one either neck or shoulder. Dr slappey will not see me for both at the same time. I must come another time for the other issue. The only thing is behind this is greed nothing else. Extra unnecessary X-ray and additional visit generate more money who cares about patients who ended with all these unnecessary medical bills and later will be send to collection agency. Very soon if you want check your eyes, the eye doctor may check one of your eye and tell you to come back another day to the check the other eye so they can make more money that is really sad. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Was referred by a cardiologist to see Dr. William Dasher for left arm pain. Made the appointment and was told the consultation would cost $300.00. Arrived at appointment, paid the $300.00 . During check in they also ask for my insurance card, not thinking anything of it, I gave them that as well. Not only did I pay them what I was told the consult would cost, they also billed my insurance company , got paid by the insurance company and for months has hassled me for additional money . Told there business office I would not pay them another $150.00 so they sent me to collections. If all of this is not enough, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Dasher who told me I needed a cervical fusion surgery for a herniated disc in the neck. Good thing I followed my instincts and consulted with a neurosurgeon in Atlanta who consults for some of our professional sports teams in the state. He was adamant that I was not a surgical candidate for neck surgery. It did take some time but I finally found the right doctor who correctly diagnosed me and I was able to solve my issue with physical therapy. I saw Dr. Schnetzer at the Milledgeville office for an ongoing back problem. The entire exam felt rushed and he spoke down to my wife when she asked a question about physical therapy. He recommended a spinal injection and gave me a two meds. He didn't really seem to be in touch with the level of pain I was experiencing. He took ZERO time explaining my problem and treatment options. After i got the injection, ( which only helped for about a week), we decided to head to our winter home in Arizona for further treatment. Had we stayed, I would've seen another doctor. I was not comfortable with Schnetzer at all. I have now seen a doctor in Arizona and have a treatment plan and relief from a lot of my pain. The other doctors in this clinic may be fine. read more
