But as soon as we walked in the door we could feel the warmth and kindness of dental staff! From the moment Carlee and Mia got in the dentist chair for the overall clean & checkup to the check out of our visit, I felt safe and cared for by a very loving staff! Im so glad my gut guided us to Children's Dental Haven.. now I no longer worry about who our girls dentist will be! The assistant -Annie did a marvelous job and should be commended! She explained everything that would be going on she even explained all costs that possibly insurance didn't cover that we could easily decline with no judgement. I don't think my girls ever had pain or discomfort and definitely will return to her ! As far as pediatric dentists go, we don't really have experience with anyone other than Dr. Doan. I…read moremean, we're about to, because we won't be using Dr. Doan going forward. The hygienists are friendly. Some of them are pretty quiet, which feels like maybe not the energy you need when trying to get little kids to be attentive and excited about having y'alls fingers all up in their mouths. My kids liked this place well enough. But when you have a screen in front of your face with Disney movies, that's an easy way to win the hearts/minds of children. As far as Dr. Doan herself: Sometimes, I felt like I wasn't getting the full story on why certain treatments were recommended or even necessary, or why certain procedures were billed in a particular way. The cynic in me frequently struggled with taking a lot of it at face value. I also found myself mildly miffed when talking with her because the interactions felt condescending. A couple things that annoyed me recently: My dental insurance changed. I... sort of knew this, but didn't really pay attention. My own dentist's office called me prior to my appointment to be like "Hey, we can't find your insurance info" and I told them what I knew, and then they called back to be like "found it, we're all good." In all fairness, it was presumptuous on my part to think that Dr. Doan's office would do something similar. So mea culpa on that part; I'm acknowledging my own fault in the overall story here. That said, when I arrived with my kids, they told me that they didn't have the insurance details. I told them the same thing I told my own dentist's office, and the lady looked it up and told me that the new insurance was out-of-network. And so I was put in a predicament of having to decide to have them proceed with all the dental work and hope that I wouldn't get hit with some exorbitant bill at the end, or cancel the appointments. Here's where I got annoyed: 1. They said that they had tried to reach out to confirm insurance information prior to the visit to avoid situations like this. This is a bold-faced lie. They didn't do anything of the sort. But I didn't really think about this until after I left that it was a bold-faced lie. But that lie put me in a situation where I agreed to the appointment cancellation fee ($30 x 2). The alternative was to continue with the dental services for which I had no way of knowing what the final bill was going to be with the out-of-network insurance plan. 2. There's some mendacity in the word-play that this office does (it's happened a couple times now, because I briefly ended up out-of-network a couple years ago as well) where they make it seem like they're willing to file with all insurances, but if it's out-of-network, then it's beyond their control as far as what billing will look like. That's kind of a half-truth situation; yes it's beyond their control in what the out-of-network insurance will cover, but they also have some say in whether they wish to be in-network or not with any insurance coverage. Additionally, they also have an approximate idea of what they'll end up charging out-of-network patients. So I find it to be disingenuous to say "We'll file with your insurance and see what they say" when they already know that it's out-of-network, but they're still trying to hook you financially for something that may not be in your best interest. It's semantic word-play used to an anti-consumer end, because it's more about getting your money than communicating honestly that their dental practice may not be the best financial option for your family in light of your current coverage. These two points would make this review a single solitary star if it were not for Heather (below). Last thing. So, there was this one interaction a couple years ago I had with an employee named Heather that left me so impressed that I want to draw attention to it now: I had some billing questions, so I called to talk to someone about it, and Heather went well above and beyond what was necessary in getting the answers to my questions. What's that Maya Angelou quote? (hold on, I'm Googling): "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I don't even remember what Heather said/did anymore (because it's been a minute). I just remember being so appreciative of her efforts that after I got off the phone with her, I searched for Dr. Doan's practice on Yelp, and saved this review with just the word "Heather." And then I forgot about finishing the review (until right now). So here it is, Heather. I don't even know if you're still there. But I appreciate you. Even if I'm not super happy with my overall experience here, I feel like I need to acknowledge whoever this Heather person is. Thanks, won't be back.

Crocodile Smiles informed me that my son would need 8 teeth pulled and 4 of them being adult teeth (he is 8). Long story short, I went to DR. Roberts for a second opinion. He has 30 years experience and all my son needed was a few fillings and pulps removed. We are so happy with how caring DR. Roberts is! My son says he reminds him of his grandpa. He spaced out the treatment plan into a few treatments so he wouldn't wear my son out. The staff is so sweet, and they have a toy area.

We were referred to NPD by a couple of good mutual friends so I was hopeful that this would be a good fit for our family. Dr. Ward was great with our children and when my son needed treatment we trusted her with his care. The kids made comments about not being fond of the hygienist, apparently she was rough, and undermined things we told them. For example one thing was she told them their dad doesn't need to help them brush, when that's not her place to tell us we can't brush our kids' teeth during the evening to make sure they get a good cleaning at least once a day. Despite that we continued taking our kids to their office. It wasn't until the hygienist recommended that both of my kids come in every 3 months because of gingivitis that we went to another dentist for a second opinion because at first it was just my daughter that needed to be seen every 3 months and then it was my son. The other dentist said she didn't see why the hygienist recommended every 3 months because their gums weren't that bad compared to most kids their age, and that recommendation would have never crossed her mind. When we went back to NPD at the normal 6 month appointment they seemed put off that we went somewhere else for an opinion and an in between cleaning. Any time someone in the medical industry doesn't appreciate a parent being involved in the care of their child and has an issue with them getting a second opinion that should be a HUGE red flag. We explained to them that the kids were seen in between at another dentist, who took our kids' health insurance, just for a cleaning only to break that plaque cycle, but we planned on having them seen with Dr. Ward for the regular 6m appointment (with our main dental insurance) and she would still do all treatments, x rays etc. We were surprised when we were told that wasn't an option because we weren't "following their recommended care plan". We made it clear that we WERE following their "recommended" care plan with the kids having that in between cleaning, we just weren't willing to pay out of pocket for the extra $300 every 6m for the in between cleaning for the two kids' cleanings when we could get it covered somewhere else. A cleaning is a cleaning, and if they really just wanted the plaque cycle broken every 3 months then we were following that recommendation. A recommendation should be just that, a recommendation. The way they treated this situation was more of a requirement than a recommendation. They may want to use the word require next time when making a requirement, and not call it a recommendation when it's not. My husband said it sounded like a money grab at this point because we WERE taking their recommendation but since it wasn't with them they weren't willing to work with us. I first thought if we would have had a different hygienist maybe things would have worked out. Then again it sounds like the office in general wasn't willing to work with us. As much as I'm trying to give Dr. Ward the benefit of the doubt, she runs the show and we ended up where we did. My husband and I are both educators and very involved in our community and have recommended many people to this office. However, we won't be recommending anyone here in the future.

I don't normally write reviews but from beginning to end, my experience with them was perfect!…read more I came in with a chipped tooth causing some pain and was frantic my deteriorating gums were the cause. Initially I was only seeking a periodontists care. I was seen within the week by Dr. Fuller. She made suggestions and a treatment plan with many options so I could choose what I was comfortable with and could afford. I didn't feel pushed or rushed and she was SO kind and patient with ALL of my questions and concerns. During my follow up consultation, I knew I would also need my wisdom teeth pulled. (I had been told that since I was 16 but was too nervous about the recovery). I was able to meet with Dr. Bryant the same appointment. He was also just delightful! I have bad dentist anxiety but he was just so kind and lighthearted. His temperament made me feel comfortable enough to add an additional 4 teeth being pulled to my treatment plan. Molly I believe, was the dental assistant helping them. She was very likable and personable and remembered details about me from our previous appointment that made my experience less intimidating. On the day of my actual surgery, I met Daphne. I believe she was also a dental assistant, who prepped me for surgery. She was GREAT! She was friendly, comforting, and fast. I felt more confident and less nervous because of how friendly and clearly efficient everyone was around me. In total, I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled, an additional tooth pulled (the broken one), a bone graft, as well as a deep cleaning/scaling of my teeth. All in the same surgery. I am known to have a low tolerance for pain but healing took less than a week! 2 days of minimal swelling and only Tylenol and ibuprofen necessary. A testament to their skill no doubt. It should also be noted that the front desk staff and woman heading the financial aspect of my surgery, were extremely helpful and courteous! While I could tell they were VERY busy, they still were so attentive, kind, and answered all of my questions. Overall I could describe my experience with them as friendly, professional, skilled, and successful.
