Got here fifteen minutes early for a 2:45 appointment because my wife is in extreme pain that might be related to her recent hip surgery... sat around doing close to nothing for over an hour while the staff here was apparently doing likewise. got sent to X-ray part way through, don't understand why we didn't go there straight away considering we were in because pain in the area of a known hip replacement thing but I'm not a doctor; the PA isn't either but that didn't stop him from making bad decisions about the medications he prescribed and not going over the dosing instructions... (an actual physician later told us those drugs should NEVER be taken together) so yeah, not a good time from start to finish AND I took half the afternoon off work for this... read more

Afternoon Blessings, I was scheduled today for another knee injection at 2pm today. However I explained to the front desk that I didn't have my $10 copay this time. She told me that I would have to reschedule my appointment. Also that I had a balance of 69 cents. This was very disappointing to here. There was no compassion or care. This was my second visit and I paid my $10 copay before but my prescription came first today. Not to mention I've been experiencing homelessness since February 23rd 2024. But THE LORD helps me to keep up with my health and appointments. It would've helped to get a call or maybe told at my previous appointment that if for any reason I don't have my copay, that I would have to reschedule. There wasn't any room for understanding. I spoke with a front desk representative/scheduler this morning who did not seem interested to have the conversation with me. Kept over speaking. When I explained that the person I spoke to the day before had to issue with assisting. She basically shrugged it off. I hope this isn't my experience when I visit for my appointment. read more

I initial experience with Ortho Carolina began on January 2, 2025. I am new to the area took a fall in my home on Christmas Day and have been experiencing severe shoulder pain. I was scheduled with Dr. Mostak who was pleasant looked me in the eyes !!and advised me I need an MRI to determine if I have any tears in my rotar cuff in my shoulders. At the onset only one shoulder was scheduled, I advised them I was claustrophobic however that was transcribed to not claustrophobic. Don't know where the disconnect occurred. I had to call back have my appointment moved because both shoulders were not scheduled then I had to request pain meds and Valium to help out on the day of which I never ended up taking (not their fault). My appointment was scheduled for 6:40am on 1/16 back to back shoulders now. My major complaint is why schedule me that early if your office doesn't open until 6:50am. I walked up to the door it was locked went around the building to another door saw someone advised her I was a patient she tells me to go to front door I stated it's locked she continues to advise me to go to front door. I went to front door only to have her talk through the door and advise me that they don't open until 6:50 why was I told to here at 6:40am standing in the freezing cold 18 degrees temperature. I was shown no compassion whatsoever and only until another patient came up to the door did the individual take her sweet time unlocking the door as previously she was holding conversation with someone while I stood freezing at the door. This is absolutely inexcusable!! When she finally opened the door she said they don't open until 6:50am again why schedule my appointment so early if you were not going to be open and then make me wait outside in the freezing cold. I really pray to God that color had nothing to do with it as I am Black but I feel very slighted. First impressions are everything and what you do determines your character. Why would I want to continue to be treated by a facility that doesn't care about me as a person. The MRI was very cold and treatment I felt was not compassionate considering how cold I already was and the pain I was in. I am very disappointed in this practice. read more

I showed up for my appointment for Dr. Morgan to discover they had cancelled my appointment and never contacted me. The receptionist was empathetic, but they would not squeeze me in to see another specialist. I did everything I was suppose to do, but I'm the one who suffers. I had to overcome so many hurdles just to be at the appointment. I do not plan on ever returning (new patient..:well, not now). I am a retired nurse and have never met a colder, cocky, rude arrogant excuse for a Dr. than Skehan.....He will lie to you and almost smirk at your pain....He has done surgery on both my hands...doing an OK job on left hand but really botched my right one....He is rapidly getting a horrid reputation...and I have seen incisions that looked as if he used a box cutter....Pam L....be careful.... read more

The service at Ortho is pretty prompt and courteous but there policies may more troublesome. You'll be seen by a PA before you see a doctor. Also they seem to shy away from filling out forms such as disability or social security forms, you will be sent elsewhere. read more

Dr. Skahen is the rudest person I have ever met. My husband crushed his thumb and has 13 stitches around the pad to keep it on. The doctor said we are changing things up but gets pissed because I asked him if I should be doing it at night the same way. Then proceeds to tell me that he is done with us because I question everything he says. I told him I have questions and it is his job to answer the questions. I have never met such a rude doctor. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! I paid my entire bill in full months ago and today tried to setup an appointment for a minor surgery. I was told that I could not make any appointments with them as I was in collections and they could not even speak to me until I paid the outstanding bill. I was transferred to collections and Remeka was very rude to me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she kept repeating the same thing over and over again and would not transfer me. I hung up and called back and they have no idea who her supervisor is and could not even give me the number to human resources to file a complaint. I will be filing with the Better Business Bureau. I was very fond of my dr but I have pulled my business and no member of my family will be back! read more

Dr Skahen is an excellent surgeon with a beautiful bedside manner. He operated on my right hand for Carpal Tunnel in October 2017 and did a fabulous job. My hand feels and works great now, and I can't even see where he did the surgery now. There is literally no scar! When my left hand needs the same surgery; I will definitely have Dr. Skahen do it. Went to OrthCarolina in Concord, uninsured for a ganglion cyst on my right wrist. Told it would be $250 deposit for visit, which I put on account prior to my visit. Go to appointment to have Ortho tell me they no longer remove cysts AND I was charged $194 for 3 mins of his time, which included a drawing I could've been told this over the phone as they knew what I was coming in for and to top it off it's going to take them days to refund me the remainder but they take it immediately. Definitely using this as a learning experience and not paying for any doctor services until after, got screwed trying to plan ahead. Complete rip off, could've applied wasted money to my other doctors, loosing trust in these doctors. Patient's best interest is no longer considered. read more

This organization is terrible, I had surgery in 2007 and now they say I owe $50.00 or they cant make another appointment. After talking to three people in the business office an one at the collection agency. All I found out was I still owe the money and they don't even have my correct insurance company. The bill is to old for them to file I just have to pay or find another clinic. Real great service. read more

These clowns are POS. My mom had an appointment 3 weeks ago at 8:30. When we got there we are told that our appointment was cancelled claiming they called and our phone was full w voice mails. I checked my missed calls and they NEVER called my phone. She tells us that the appointment was cancelled because her regular doctor was in surgery. She offered another doctor to see us and we said ok. So we sit down at the waiting room and wait. So it's 8:45 and I walk up to the lady that checked us in and ask what was taking so long since her appointment was at 8:30, she proceeds to tell us that they are not going to be able to see us until 9:45. SHE NEVER TOLD US THAT BEFORE WE SAT DOWN and at least give us the courtesy to let us know. So of course I'm highly upset at this point. So we sit back to wait and 30 mins later they called us back. The nurse tried to pull my mom in the wheelchair and I was so upset I told her I will pull her myself. Once we get close to her room, it took me at least 90 seconds to get her through the door because the wheelchair was so wide I was having a hard time getting it through the door. After about 90 seconds I finally got her through the door so I sit down at the chair next to her. The damn nurse pulls my mom back out of the room through the door and brings her back in but brings her in w her back facing the door instead of the way I brought her in. This nurse WATCHED me for that long struggling to get my mom in through the door so then she takes her out to bring her back in?! What kind of sh** is that?? I wanted to cry so bad. Why would u watch me struggle to take her out and bring her back in instead of asking me if she could help me or give me advice on how to get her through the door? I didn't act like a fool because I didn't want to embarrass my mom so I let that go. Then the borrowed doctor came in and told us "I don't know why the front desk told you your doctor want here because he is here" at this point you could see smoke coming out of my ears. At that point I started to cry and told the doctor everything her office had put us through up until that point and then she tells us he was there the whole time??? I asked to speak to a supervisor and spoke to the office administrator, she wrote down everything I just wrote on here and said she would follow up w her crew people. I go home upset and it had bothered me so much the way they treated us that I cried for hours. Thinking nothing is going to be done about it, I called to speak to someone else. I spoke to Lori Zimmerman which is the customer service manager and she listens to me vent, she then tells me she will investigate and call me back. 3 weeks later I still have not received a called back from her, I called on Tuesday and left her a message, when she didn't call me Tuesday, I called on Weds and demanded a call back. Today is Thursday and have yet to receive a call. This is the worst place ever. Not only that In the past we have waited for long periods to be seen. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am also leaving a bad review w the BBB and through their Facebook page. You treated us like garbage and don't have the decency to call back to apologize. I will also be contacting whoever owns this place and making a complaint through them. read more
