I recently completed Mahjong lessons at this location with my mom. The course consisted of three classes, held once a week, and we loved it. The women teaching the classes were incredibly friendly and did a great job explaining the rules in a way that was easy to understand. The library itself is very nice--clean, bright, and filled with natural light. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I'd highly recommend the Mahjong classes to anyone interested in learning the game. read more

My sons and I love this library! We started off coming to story-time then discovered all of the great programs they have throughout the year. Very well organized events that are always free and fun/informative. It always feels like a safe space with clean rooms and friendly staff. read more

Sweet little library with all the amenities you might need. Wifi. Printing for 10 cents per page, with a library card. Special programs for kids. A special Children's rooms. A glamorous librarian. Magazines. Lots of computers to use. Air conditioning. A seed library. A wonderful place, indeed. My only complaint is the sound of the automatic door sliding open and closed. It took me a minute to realize I was not hearing a) a real live lion, b) someone's weird ring tone of a lion, or c) one of the computer's accidentally having a audible lion screensaver. It's the darned grinding door opening and closing. Or a lion walking by outside. Either way, perhaps it should be greased or the rollers replaced so that some poor child doesn't grow up with the eternal association of a lion roaring at the OV library. :) read more

This library offers great customer service. Also within the library, there is a nice bookstore to support library services. Fantastic!

Beautiful location, great free lectures, a wonderful seed library, and a beautiful literary sculpture. U of A Master Gardeners offer free lectures here and the speaker I caught was Deborah. She was great; hilarious, informative, super knowledgeable, a great teacher. Seed library - you get 10 seed packets per mo th and then when your harvest goes to seed, bring back some seeds and you're good to go. Great program and surprisingly great selection of seed packets! read more

An outstanding library and clearly from a city that cares about its' community. A clean, bright reading area with a lot to offer other than books. It's a great place to read a newspaper, a book or learn about the area in a well air conditioned building. read more

Word. I love the written word and there are times I love it when no one talks to me, so it's no surprise that I live for libraries. Being new to the area, I searched the Yelp reviews for the highest rated library near me and beelined - a strange word that implies I made straight for this book-y oasis when in fact bees & I always stop to smell the flowers! Note: they have some pretty sweet, free 'classes' offered by Master Gardeners and other fun things - check out the monthly calendar for deets. Not too far off of Tangerine Road, tucked into a little neighborhood nook, I found my not so loquacious destination. The lovely woman who so graciously signed me up sported a banana yellow manicure, such a delight! She granted my access & informed me of all that I needed to know before I was loosed upon the place. I fingered spines and flipped through parchments, I chose discriminately and indiscriminately, and at turns, devil-may-care, because the word world was without limits. Okay, so that's a stretched truth, but 50 books is pretty dang close, certainly more than I could carry. So I left armed (in both senses) with happiness. I shall return! And I'll shall return those books, too, as any great book lover is wont to do. Do come, do bring ID, and for God's sakes, shhhh. 'I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.' Beautify Library with very nice selection of large print books for seniors. Staff is always very helpful and polite

I'm inclined towards 1-2 stars for this review, but it's only the second time I've used the library while waiting for my car to charge, and it's possible I'm just being over-sensitive. Bottom line, this location is amazing, with great views of the Catalinas, but it's also the NOISIEST library I've ever visited!! Am I out of touch? Aren't librarians stereotyped with the shushing finger to the lips, the scolding "Shhhhhh!", and fierce warning glances over the top of the reading glasses (beaded hanging leash optional)? If you're looking for a quiet place to read, trust me, this is NOT it! read more

I come here with my 2 year old about once a week. This is my favorite library in all of Tucson. It is clean and well taken care of. They have tons of activities and programs for kids. They also have random events there as well. A couple weeks ago we went and they were giving away free plants! read more

I love the Oro Valley Public Library. The librarians are wonderful and quick to help you find something or recommend a new book. The building is beautiful and bright located in the heart of Oro Valley. There are a wealth of different book clubs, including my personal favorite the SciFi bookclub. My only complaint is that most of the book clubs (all but mine) meet during the day so if you work a 9-5 job it's tough to participate. They also have a great kids section with loads to choose from. read more

Oro Valley Public Library - Libraries Near Me - Oro Valley, Arizona

This is the best library I have been in. I lived in Oro Valley in high school, and I enjoyed driving to the library and perusing the young adult section. It was a very clean library and easy to navigate. When I was there last, which is 4 years ago now, it had an amazing selection of CDs. Everything was nicely organized. My favorite place to sit and read was in front of the window by the magazines. There was a nice view of the desert that made reading better. I really wish I still lived in AZ so I could go to this library again. It was always a wonderful experience putting books and CDs on hold and going to the library and picking them up. It felt like Christmas. :) read more

My wife and I recently moved to Marana and feel very fortunate to have a resource like the Oro Valley Public Library nearby our new home.

We love coming here for toddler storytime. I do wish they'd implement a rule of no snacks/toys. Sometimes when people bring these in it can cause issues with other kids. (The library I went to in WA had this rule) The children's room has a great selection - I love that the board books have their own section! Each month they offer crafting and a 'practice reading to a dog' event. I look forward to attending these when my daughter is old enough! read more

For a neighborhood library, the OV Public library meets all expectations. Architecture is modern, picturesque views from the windows, decent sized "quiet" section, an area for younger children, homework help sections, a specific Teen Zone, program room for seniors with various activities including scrabble etc. Their book collection seems to be good and if you don't find something you need, staff are helpful at getting your desired book in from a sister library if available. More pluses: open till 7pm Mon-Thu, reliable free WiFi, friendly staff, ample parking (I always found covered parking), views of Catalina's and Mt. Lemmon and even a covered outdoor seating area. I went there regularly for 2 months while preparing for an exam and am glad to have had this gem in my neighborhood. (Addendum: I passed that exam so I love this library even more now! ) read more

Finally, a nice size library with lots of comfortable chairs, consistent wi-fi and a quiet room for the children who want to run and play. Remains open until 5pm on Saturdays. There was even a soda machine for those that got thirsty and didn't want to go on a drive to find a soda. P.S. I only went here to do a little personal work in a different environment, so I can't speak to the selection of books/cds/dvds. read more

This is a beautiful, clean library with plenty of space for reading or studying. Free wifi that is reliable and fast. Small study rooms available. As a Tucson native, I love the mountain views, too! My only complaint is that it's not super quiet, and due to its small size, you can generally hear people around you all the time. I came here to study, so I can't comment on the book selection. read more

We enjoy visiting the OV public library fairly often. My girls and I enjoy story time and all the activities they have available for children, especially during the summer! It's great to have a cool place in the neighborhood to take the kids when they are in need of some social interaction. We're thankful for this library and the effort they put into community involvement. read more

Oro Valley Public Library - Moving the mosaic sphere out of the shop and into the living room. - Libraries Near Me - Oro Valley, Arizona

I think of this library as one of the better uses of local taxpayer revenue. Top-notch facility IMHO: well-lit, airy, clean, tidy with plenty of chairs & tables - and the most awesome outdoor sculpture in Tucson! Must see for yourself... to the right of the entrance, can't miss it. Really knowledgeable & friendly librarians- haven't got shushed so far! Love the self-check out, the accessible hold shelf, the arrangement of new books. I've had great success in requesting titles from other branches on-line. Seminars & community events offered for children as well as adults ... haven't had a chance to partake yet. Plenty of parking is available, including covered spaces. This calm oasis of imagination gets 4 vs 5 star perfection due to my wish-list hold-out for a drive through book drop & a small coffee bar. read more

As a newcomer to Arizona I was excited to go and get my library card. The librarian was very welcoming and kind, I told her I most often read historical fiction. She showed me the fiction section and scooted off so I could peruse. The library is a bit small so I'm not sure that I would use it for sprawling out studying materials and spending all day tucked in a corner, but I was pleased with the selection of books and the overall atmosphere. read more

This is a beautiful, but small, library. Everything is quite new, and in great condition. Because of the size, the selection is a bit limited. Also the internet connection can be spotty at times. Overall I like this library a lot, and would give it at least 4 stars, but for the librarians. Usually they are nice and helpful (but super loud! aren't libraries supposed to be quiet?) but if you have a fine or other problem, watch out. I had a fine that I wanted to discuss before I paid because I felt it was rather high, and the librarian lost her temper with me, called me irresponsible, and was curt and condescending. I had every intention of paying my fine, I just wanted to let them know that it will take a while, since my husband and I are both unemployed. She removed the fine (I did not ask her to) and then finished the call by saying "I just want to remind you that the library is a privilege not a right." Use this library, but don't cross the librarians! They will cut you to pieces. read more
