Like so many children these days, I was one of those (un)lucky enough to have to wear a brace through adolescence. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for my lovely straight teeth now, but at the time it was an absolute nightmare having to eat soup and mushy food all the time.
My orthodontist was this one in Ormskirk and I usually had to visit every 4-6 weeks for various treatments. The orthodontist itself has a bit of a conveyor belt feel to it, as you sit downstairs with your parents before being summoned up the stairs to wait just outside the treatment room. One thing I do always remember is there being a PlayStation up there with an early version of TOCA Racing on it, cutting edge gaming I'm sure you'll agree.
Once inside, the orthodontists were nice enough, but you didn't feel any particular warmth from them or any sort of friendliness and familiarity (you rarely saw the same one twice).
The end result for my own teeth was very good so for that I can't fault them, but the overall experience of going there always felt somewhat cold and unfriendly. Still, can't fault them for their professionalism. read more
