Because I had a busy day ahead, I had to get there fairly early which was good and bad. Good in that there was no problem finding a parking spot in the lot and there was no crowd to fight. Being an early bird did hinder the selection though since some of the booths hadn't fully set up yet. The produce stand was in full swing though and looked wonderful. I learned that the same people who provide Lake Eola with their fruits and veggies are the same vendors here and I can say from experience they are good people who care about their product and their customers. From what I did see there was a Sweet Potato Pie (a local bakery) table with other fabulous baked goods, art dealers, homemade doggie treats, house plants, pound cakes and unique apparel. The area itself wasn't very large but just big enough to make it worthwhile. And perfect if you had already planned a trip to Whole Foods. Their contribution seemed to be a coffee table which wasn't completely done when I strolled by. If it was, I would have surely grabbed a cup as I walked by to make my time their absolutely perfect. Because nothing goes better with a morning at the market than a cup of coffee.

We went on a Sunday and the parking lot was packed so we had to circle to find a spot. Luckily, there seem to always be people coming AND going so it only took a few minutes. Freshfields Farm is split up into 3 distinct areas - the fresh meat store, the fresh produce store, and the ice cream (and hot dog) window. We decided to head to the meat entrance first. The area is not that big but it is just lots of selections of fresh meat, cheese and butter. The meats seemed to be pretty good prices, slightly below Publix where I normally shop. There was ground beef, turkey, steak, chicken and seafood. Plus some huge cuts of meat like picanha and ribs. If you are going to have a BBQ, this is the place to go. Also, workers were constantly bringing out new packages and some people were waiting for them. I picked up 2 pounds of ground beef and some boneless, skinless chicken breasts. The cashiers were nice and super quick. Then we headed outside and then next door to the produce section. Basically the same as the meat department but filled with produce. There were bins of fresh strawberries when we walked in as well as avocados, a whole section of bananas and plantains, rainbow carrots, and even full cacao pods! I'm guessing they just showcase fresh seasonal produce so for example, while there were fresh plums, I didn't see navel oranges. There was also a fridge case full of squeezed juices and lemonades. And a big section of various types of mushrooms. I got a package of sliced cantaloupe and a big pack of 30 eggs. We checked out the ice cream window, which looked super yummy but because we hadn't eaten lunch yet, we decided we'll come back another time to try it.

This is one of the only farmer's markets in Orlando where patrons can use SNAP benefits as a form of payment, which is fantastic. Their mission is to "transform Parramore's food dessert into a food oasis" and I really hope with community support they are able to do just that. It was a good mix of tables - lots of fresh veggies, honey, gourmet popcorn, baked goods, shaved iced/specialty beverages, artisanal candles, jewelry, scarves, head wraps, skirts, and original art. There were several tables with neighborhood information as well, which is always great. They also had live music, which added a fun element. Today was their first market and there were about 17 tables - I really hope to see this market grow as word gets out about it and the weather warms up!

I really enjoyed this market and the mission behind it "Transforming Parramore's food desert into a…read morefood oasis." It's small but has the essentials- several produce stands , several ready to eat food options (POPCORN) and lots of great gift ideas too. Located right outside Orlando City Stadium- the market occurs every Saturday from 8a-1pm. There is plenty of street parking around this time. We made it a nice day and parked further out so we could enjoy the weather and the walk. While this one isn't bustling like other markets, I actually prefer and appreciate this one. It's waaay less overwhelming and you actually get to hold conversations and interact with the vendors. My friends and I took our time to visit most of the tables. There were several fresh produce stands (Growing Orlando, Fleet Farming, etc), plenty of ready to eat food options ( get the samosas from Spice Affair, sweets from Suga & Spice and the caramel/cheese mix from Popcorn Junkie) and if you're a coffee fan, Mercantile Coffee Co. is a no brainer. I had the cold brew with oat milk. First time trying it and it was great. Didn't miss the cream at all! They also had matcha and a cider on tap if coffee isn't your thing. If you're looking for gifts- I bought the best handpoured soy candle from Soy What Candle Company that smells just like the cucumber melon lotion from B&BW. But this purchase helps a Parramore family! Definitely follow PFM on FB and on Instagram to see what vendors will be there as the lineup probably changes from time to time. Also pro tip: bring reusable bags and cash. While some vendors took cards, some did not.
