I had such a great experience at OC&V that I had to share it. I came in with camera problems and couldn't get my photos off my camera. They handled that quickly and without any issue, and then went a step further by diagnosing exactly what was wrong with the camera itself. What really impressed me was their honesty. They had the part that would fix the problem, but it was the professional version and pretty expensive. Instead of pushing the sale, they actually recommended that I go to their competitor to get a less expensive version. Who does that anymore? I was so appreciative of their help that I was ready to buy the pricier part on the spot, but since I didn't need it immediately, I waited a couple of days for the basic version instead. The fact that they were willing to send me elsewhere to save me money says everything about their integrity. Amazing, friendly, personal service -- the kind that reminds you why buying local matters. I was in dire need of a charger for my camera battery, since my A Cappella group (Upper Structure) was on a retreat on the cape doing a photoshoot and left our battery charger in Boston. The place was situated in a cute little strip mall plaza and the second we got in, the man working was super kind and got us what we needed. We immediately told him about our situation and he helped us out so quick we got out in less than 5 minutes!! Earlier today, I bought a Canon EOS Sl1 at Orleans Camera and Video. I could not be happier with my purchase. I was in a tough spot since my other Canon died yesterday. I spent time with their staff earlier in the morning, figuring out my options (salvageable, repair costs, and replacement costs) then went home to assess prices. They NEVER tried to make a sale; simply gave me the options. I liked that Orleans Camera also gave me used and new equipment choices. I went back later today and looked again. The staff were informative and helped me make the right choice. It was so nice to talk with people who could listen to my needs as an experienced, amateur photographer and answer my questions. I never felt pushed to buy anything. Heck, I had walked out of there earlier in the day having felt no pressure. Orleans Camera is a high-quality outfit that encourages photographers of all levels while offering equipment at great prices. Big box stores cannot compare to them. read more

I bought a pocket-sized little digital Canon here and I love it. The salesmen were very helpful and seemed genuinely sad that they didn't have a larger selection of point-and-shoot cameras to show me. Service was really outstanding. One of the sales guys even gave me the store camera directory to take with me when I was shopping around at other places. He didn't look surprised to see me when I came back to buy the camera I'd originally looked at. One star is deducted for the not-so-great selection, but the customer service is excellent and the prices are more than fair. read more

A very good full service camea and video store. The staff and owner are very nice and very helpful and very knowledgeable. They saved my tripod from what would have an unfixable. They were able to match and change the broken head to one which I think was better then original. Also they cleaned the sand out of the legs as best as possible. with no extra charge Essentially, gave my tripod knew life. I recommend this store. The only draw back is that they do not service or sell Nikon Cameras moslty only Cannon. read more

We have had a difficult time finding a place to develop film. My husband and I have tried places in Dedham and Norwell, and recently decided to try Orleans Camera. We are so pleased with the service and quality that we make the trip out to Orleans every couple months. We process and scan our film. I bought a Canon yesterday and the entire experience was wonderful. As an amateur, I wasn't exactly sure what type of camera I was looking for. I've spent the last 5 years using my iphone camera. They took the time to explain all my options for my price range and how each camera performed. They even have photo albums of pictures taken with the camera I chose. The prices were great as well. I highly recommend you visit them, if your on the hunt for a great camera. I was never pressured to purchase anything either which is a big deal to most consumers. read more

I wanted to give 5 stars based on past experiences. However, most recently, I would say only a 2. This is solely for the lack of customer care I experienced. They had miscut a few photos, which we didn't realize til we were home. I had to go back, and ask for a fix. I also asked for 2 more of that same photo. I got them and went back home. As I prepared to send them for Xmas presents, I realized 2 were right and 2 were still wrong. So I had to go back a 3rd time. I asked for the 2 wrong ones to be corrected, and get 4 additional photos. They first didn't get the 6, I had to request it again, as 1 man forgot to pass that on, then I got the 6 - as I went to pay, I said I owed for 4, and 2 should be covered from before. The lady had a fit about it, saying I was wrong, and they already fixed it, and it wasn't their fault, then said it was crazy I was questioning how much I owed. Then she said just take them all with a sarcastic "merry Christmas". I said I was not trying to be a jerk, but just have the correct cost for the photos. she said I was quibbling over only 78 cents. I said she never told me how much they were in the first place, so I didn't know what I was being charged anyways. I was kind of shocked at her treating me like I was a huge problem, so I just said I would pay for them all and leave. She happily rung me up for the full cost and said happy new year with a smirk and I left feeling like I never want to go back, but maybe should try CVs instead. read more
