I went to the Orissa a couple of nights ago for dinner with a customer. We were both staying at Morgans Hotel in Swansea which is very near to Wine Street which has a plethora of choices in food and drink.
We both fancied a curry so we went just across the road from Morgans to Orissa. As it was Monday night I wasn't surprised to find an empty restaurant , the waiter greeted us and showed us to a table. Just as we sat two other groups turned up a little worse for wear but didn't look like they would be any bother.
We ordered a couple of papads and dips - OK
Chicken Madras - OK , not spicy enough, sauce too thin, chicken tasted more like hen.
Chicken Dopiazza - customer said just OK nothing special
Rice - Good
Keema Naan - Good
Dhall - Good . thick consistency and soft lentils - just right.
Bottle of wine , couple of pints , couple of coffees
Bill came to just short of £60.00 which I thought cheap - but for a overwhelmingly average experience was about a fair price.
Would I go back ? Probably not as there are many other choices within walking distance. read more
