We got a friendly welcome. She was quite sweet. When we asked, she told us that Goldy was her sister who had passed away. The restaurant was named after her. In addition to the menu on the counter, they have a blackboard with various featured items -- including soups of the day -- and specials. They use Board Head meats which you can see in the case. We both ordered their Italian sub, but I made a few changes to mine leaving out the ham and the capicola. The bread was soft and went well with all the meats, cheeses, and veggies. It was an excellent sandwich. We each ate half (the sandwich was stuffed with stuff) and took half home. We were talking about other options that they have when the owner mentioned various desserts -- including banana pudding. She mentioned that it's quite popular and sells out often, but she just happened to have some ready. This is my husband's favorite dessert. He couldn't resist getting a container of it. He took a few tastes there and devoured the rest at home. This place is definitely worth a return visit. Concerning Tuna Salad and Poor Customer Service…read more On September 28, 2026, I purchased 2 pounds of tuna salad and some bagels. While eating it, my daughter suddenly began gagging and coughing and spit out an entire mouthful of food. In that mouthful was a BONE approximately ¾ inch long. She was fortunate that she was able to spit it out rather than choke on it. We all immediately stopped eating the tuna. Approximately 1 1/2 pounds of the tuna remained, which I returned to the store the next day. Rather than expressing concern about what had happened, the employee was rude and insisted that it was impossible for there to be bones in their tuna. That was difficult to understand, since tuna are fish (with bones) and, as our experience demonstrated, a bone was in fact present in the tuna I purchased. The employee weighed the tuna I returned and offered to replace it. We declined because, after what had just happened, we had no intention of eating any more tuna from this restaurant. The employee refused to provide a refund but kept the returned tuna. We were asked for our phone number and told that the store manager would contact us. We have not received a call. The most troubling aspect of this incident is not simply that a substantial bone was found in the tuna, it is that someone in my family nearly choked on it. My daughter was fortunate. The next customer who encounters a bone like this may not be. It is clear the restaurant does not take such incidents seriously. Customers who report a potentially serious food-safety incident should be treated with concern, rather than rude dismissal. They sold the product and have a responsibility to serve food that is fit for consumption. The tuna that I bought was not. Apparently, their policy is: once you pay for it, it's yours, even if it's inedible. Won't be going back.
