I accidentally joined this location when I started going to a gym, seeing an online ad from them…read moreand not really understanding the system, and I just kept it because the Black Card membership lets you go to any location anyway. Everything was fine for seven months. The automatic payment came out every month, no problem. Then in January of 2026 the problem started. The January charge did not go through, but did I get any notification of this in a timely manner? No I did not. The payment did not go through on the 17th and the first I knew of it was when I went to the gym on the 21st and the app told me my payment was overdue but it would let me use the gym this one time as a courtesy and I should pay my bill. What???? I thought. So I called the club and they said they could not do anything about the late charge. They referred me to the national number. The national number says right in its announcement when you call it that they cannot do anything about billing issues and you should contact your local club. So it would appear that right off the bat someone at this location lied to me. I'm trying to learn to let things roll off my back, so at that point I just paid the bill with my credit card and said to myself that it would take more of my time than the late fee was worth to bother with it further. So what happens a few days later? I get an email from the billing company saying to pay my bill, after I've already paid it. The email gives me a number to call so I do, because by this time I'm getting annoyed again. After going around and around with the billing company, they also say that only the club can help me with that late charge. Yeah, you mean the club that referred me to the national number when they are the ones that could have taken care of the late charge? The one that lied to me already? And to add insult to injury, I know exactly how this happened. I looked at the billing info that I had on file, and it had the wrong account number. This after the right account number had been charged for seven months with no problem. So I thought back and reconstructed it. I had initially tried to get the automatic payment taken out of a savings account, where I keep a small amount of money for such purposes, rather than my checking account, where I keep a large amount of money and really don't like anybody but me having access to it. The savings account number wouldn't work, so I finally, reluctantly, changed it to the checking account number. Well after the January payment didn't go through, guess what account number I saw in my record? The savings account number, the one that I already knew didn't work. My guess is they had some kind of data glitch and did a rollback to a backup, which had the savings account number that I entered initially. In other words, the failure of the payment to go through was absolutely, positively, no doubt, not my fault. Anyway, their billing is just fine as long as nothing goes wrong, but absolutely hideous if anything does go wrong. Since in this world things sometimes go wrong, one star. Or maybe I should give them two stars so that I can lower it to one if this snafu turns out to have an impact on my credit score. The billing company assured me it wouldn't, but I'll believe that when I see it. I'm very protective about my credit score.

He is working with me to rehabilitate & strengthen my body from a spinal cord injury & my latest back surgery. After 2 weeks, my family & friends were already seeing a big difference in my walking & activity level. The 4th week I was able to do 2 Walmart trips with my son. Y'all, I haven't been in a store since the later part of 2017. I suffer from lots of nerve damage, both active & chronic. My legs randomly give out on me causing falls. Public places were not an option for me until now. I am even confident now enough to run a few errands on my own. This is huge for me. Anyone who suffers from anything knows the toll it takes on you not just physically, but mentally as well. So just getting out can cause anxiety. Now I'm getting out 3 days a week going to a safe place that's helping me get better. A win-win for me for sure. Jesse is one of the most comfortable trainers/therapist that I have ever worked with. He is so patient & encouraging. I was going to one of the local popular physical therapy places for awhile & I wasn't comfortable. The girls there were great, but it was all out in the open & always lots of people around. No privacy. I dreaded going each time. Another issue I had with them was scheduling. By the time my insurance would approve sessions, this place wasn't able to accommodate them all in-in the time they had to be used by. I was missing out on a lot of therapy sometimes not able to get in for 2 wks. For some reason they wouldn't pre-schedule my visits. It was very frustrating & stressful. I Phoenix Physical Training for anyone either in my situation or just wanting help to get healthy & fit. I can not stress enough how good he is & how comfortable he is to work with. He really cares & is very passionate about helping others. I look forward to our sessions & can't wait to see where I'll be at physically in another 9 wks. I am so excited for my progress & forever grateful to Jesse for bringing me this far so quickly. Thank you.

This post is long, however I feel it may be helpful when deciding on joining this gym or not. If I…read morecould give one star I would but I cannot. Coming up on seven months now. To start off, I was a member at the Kannapolis gym. I could not figure out how to get my card to work for me to scan in and asked an employee about it. They told me I could switch over to their gym (Hickory) with no problem. Stupidly, I agreed. I inquired about cancelling the one in Kannapolis and John, the GM or Assistant GM, said he would take care of it for me. I also asked about the rate fee charge as I had already paid it for the Kannapolis. He again told me he would take care of it and I wouldn't have to pay it twice. Fast forward a month and I get charged for my membership in Kannapolis. I did not have my card on me, so I did not have it added for the auto draft at this time. I call John and ask him what's going on. He told me he had canceled my membership so I asked him why they charged me anyway. He did not have an answer. I had to call the Kannapolis location and cancel my membership and they took care of it immediately. I asked John if I would be charged for that month since they were supposed to cancel it for me and he said no. I then receive an email saying I owe the gym $70 for my rate fee and the month membership. Reminder I did not have a card on file so they could not pull money. I go to the gym and another employee assists me. I explain to him the issue and he waived the charges for me. I have worked at a Workout Anytime before and knew of a card was put on file, money owed would be drafted. To make sure this didn't happen, I asked the employee if I could wait to put my card on file to make sure the charges were in fact waived. He said absolutely. I then run into money trouble and call to ask if they would freeze my account for this month because I could not afford it. John told me since I was such a dedicated member they would give me that month for free. obviously I was grateful and agreed. I put my card on file after talking with John. I then received another email saying I now owe the gym $120. This charge included the previous month, the current month, the rate fee, and a $20 late fee charge. It pulled all of that in my account and left me with less than $1 to my name. I called John and told him what happened and he said he would refund my money to me. Two weeks pass and I have yet to see anything go into my account. I call the Workout Anytime member line and ask if a refund has been issued for my account. The lady told me no. So I call John again and let him know what she said. He told me he did put the refund through and said he would call to do it again. Another two weeks or so pass and I haven't received my refund. I again call the member line and ask about it again. She tells me it has not been issued and I am not authorized to issue a refund, completely understandable. I call John again and tell him once more. H seals he would take care of it. At this point, I'm furious. Another month goes by and I have YET to get my refund of $120. I call John and ask him what the hold up is. He said that they were unable to put the refund back on the card and will have to mail a check. I ask why it was easy for them to take the money, but they can't put it back on the card. He did not have an answer. Seven months later and still no refund. At this point, there's no point to fight and try to get it. But I feel this is important to share in case anyone has had this issue before or is thinking about joining this gym.

It must have been a bad week for Xcel fitness with me. Having just moved to the area i visited…read morethree Gyms. The first day i went to Xcel and a very pleasant woman showed me around and outlined the various plans. I liked the variety of machines and cardio equipment . While the locker room has a strange layout it didn't matter as i seldom use it. In her spiel and on the web site they pitch their Personal Training ability and how they guide you. So when i signed up i specifically asked how PT works. Well, actually they don't have PT themselves but instead they have independent contractors who work for them. In order to get PT i have to call one of their trainers and organize it myself. This seemed very odd but the woman then handed me two cards and suggested that i call them. Okay, i thought it odd but i took the cards. I then left and called both trainers and left messages with them...twice. 4 days later i still hadn't heard back from either of them. So, i went back to the gym in the morning. The gym was essentially empty so i asked the guy at the front desk if he could walk me through a simple circuit using the machines. He told me sure and that he would be right with me. I wanted to get started so i said i would start on Cardio and when he had a chance just come grab me....50 minutes later i was still on the treadmill and i had watched this guy walk by a few times and chat with friends and wipe down a few machines. Twice i waved at him and he gave me the "be there in a second wave." Finally i finished my cardio and went back to the desk and now he was gone. So I left. 3 days later and still no word from the trainers I went back in and talked to the front desk yet again. I explained the situation and pointed out that no trainer had called me back . The woman at the front desk asked who i called and i literally pulled the two cards sitting on the desk and showed her. She said looking at one card "Oh he doesn't work here anymore"...huh? them why is his card on the desk...That seemed to baffle her as .much as it did me. The other trainer "she hadn't seen for awhile" Huh? She said there was a trainer hanging out there she could call. To be honest I had had it . I explained that on my last trip I had tried to get help for 50 minutes and was ignored. She seemed uninterested. Finally, i decided i would just cancel my membership. Of course , having been a member for a week, and having no trainer call me and be given a card from a guy who didn't work there at all anymore and having been shuffled off by the front desk guy on the last trip she still would have to charge me 75 dollars to cancel. Seriously? To be honest i would have paid 100 to get out of this disorganized mess. Clearly, misinformation and false promises meant little to these folks so it seemed an expensive yet valuable lesson. I ended up joining Spa Athletic where the owner took me on a tour and had a personal trainer call me to set up an appointment an hour after joining. Like i said maybe it was just a bad few days at Xcel but i find it hard to believe that i'm the only one who experienced this. Again, its a nice workout space but thats all i could see going for it after my experience .
