The 'garages' are on concrete, and a big corner ceiling heater blows hot air to the building. When the big garage door open, it brings a lot of cold 'freezing' air to some of the customers/vendors inside. Many of the vendors have Washington license plates, and the Interstate Bridge is 16 minutes or so from the fair. Some of the vendors drive as far as Happy Valley, or Hillsboro to Hood River. There's plenty of parking in the fields. The customers can walk from one building to the next, to shop with their families, and back again when they decided what they want. People can bring their dogs on a baby buggy or on a leash. This is a place for families to gather & shop and eat or listen to music (inside a garage).

There is a Community Hall with crafts and food items on display. To the North - in the gym area there are drawings and photographs on display. There is also the football field/main stage area where a huge concert is held on Saturday of the fair. To the West - there are food booths, vendor booths, games, and carnival rides. Beyond that are the animals brought for display and sale by local residents. To the South - parking in the fields. Between the Park Stage area and the carnival rides are the floral exhibit building and the 4H craft exhibit building. Love this Fair and the fairgrounds it is held on. The people running it are friendly and helpful. It's great to see so many families spending quality time together at the fair. Many of the food vendors are local families with food establishments in the area.

I'll start with it's easy to get to and lots of parking. The guys working (or volunteering) there were all friendly, riding around on their cool little scooters (this place is huge). I was astounded by the size of this place. The cars, oh the cars - so many absolutely stunning vehicles here. I don't think I've ever seen such a collection before. It was truly impressive. Then you have all the manner of aircraft as well. But wait, there's more! They have bikes, trikes, scooter, motorcycles, you name it. This place is the most amazing time capsule. They have toys, models, clothes, just so much nostalgia going on here. Absolutely worth every penny. I would recommend giving yourself a good amount of time but even then you are just scratching the surface. This is such an astounding collection of memorabilia. I highly recommend coming here. It's worth it even if it's a little out of the way. Such a good time.

They even have craft hard cider! It's the perfect little market to pick up the freshest ingredients for your weekly meal planning. And the owner is so friendly and helpful! Seeing a post on Facebook, I had to stop by. After one visit, Alpenglow has become my regular stop for the most delicious fresh eggs and produce. The first time I was there, it was a sunny 80 degree early fall day, and after checking out the beautiful and inviting back patio, I had to stay for a delicious hard cider. It was so peaceful sitting out back, watching the chickens roam, her little girls laughing and jumping in the trampoline, and the beautiful view of Hood River Valley. There are even baby goats for the kids to enjoy. Or adults like me who adore goats! Alpenglow partners with other local farmers to ensure they are providing the freshest fruit and produce at competitive prices. Fruit varies depending on what is in season - Albion strawberries, blueberries, Asian pears, a variety of apples, fresh corn, Italian plums, chanterelle mushrooms, onions, black garlic, pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds, grapes, pears, and tomatoes - just to name a few from my recent visit! Blossom Baking provides homemade s'mores kits - the chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers all made from scratch! Plus cookies, hand pies and regular size pies. New this month is chicken pot pies! They are conveniently located right across the street from WAAM (Western Antique Aeroplane & Automotive Museum) on Rucker Road. Just pull in the driveway and the farm stand is in the building in the far left. Plenty of parking, just drive slow and watch out for the chickens! We painted Mt Hood. She was able to meet each child where they were at, and make them feel at ease.We had fun. Joy is also Avery accomplished artist herself. Highly recommend Joy! Thank you!

Joy maintains a quaint litte art studio in The Heights in Hood River…read more Recently, my wife reserved Joy's studio for my daughter's six year old birthday party, since she loves all things art related. My daughter and all her friends had a fantastic and really fun time painting their unicorns. The girls had approximately 2 hours to paint, and it felt like the perfect amount of time for what was needed. Additionally, for all that the girls got to do and for this unique birthday party experience, the overall price was very reasonable. We'll definitely have to keep Joy's Art Studio in mind for future parties and activities.

I learned of the Maryhill Museum from a book I recently read about the Central Oregon railroad…read more'war' (not much of a war). One of the railroad barons (James Hill) was vying to become the first to run a line down the nearby Deschutes River to Bend. Hill's son was one of the founders of Maryhill Museum. Beyond the local history, the Maryhill stands on its own as a fabulous museum of art. With diverse collections including a large number of Rodin pieces, a post-WWII French fashion exhibit, Native American art, contemporary outdoor sculptures and most surprisingly, possibly one of the largest and best collections of chess pieces you'll see anywhere. Not only well worth a drop-in visit, you should consider the Maryhill Museum a destination.

It happened to be their Centennial celebration so it was much busier than usual. Even given that they opened up a lot for parking so there was no issue there. We didn't have any interactions with any staff but there was quite a bit going on here. We noticed some nice pieces outside and checked out what we could of the grounds. Seems like a really peaceful place to enjoy a nice day. There was quite a variety to enjoy. Personally I liked the chess set display the best. There was just so much variety in styles that it was really impressive. We did notice that they also had a cafe here. I was honestly impressed how much they had to offer since it's just a museum that seems to be in the middle of nowhere.

It was really nice out and had some beautiful photos taken. It's been a couple of weeks and we still have some lavender up in the house. The white lavender was beautiful to bring home! I had no idea there were so many colors of lavender.

Spacious gallery with a diverse collection of art from local artists using a variety of materials…read more The space is very open with lots of room to walk around and view the various pieces. Evidently this building used to house a bank and the huge safe is still there against the back right wall. The day I was there, they had several pieces of wood furniture with a live edge, which I love. There was the most amazing high top table - if only I had that kind of money! Also some console tables and a coffee table. All spectacular. Bright glassware, dishes, vases and sculptures also caught my eye as did the pretty pieces of pottery, all displayed in lucite cases and in tables allowing it to be seen. Lots of paintings on the wall and on the partitions. And some enlarged photographs, too, by Brian Chambers. His pictures of the wildflowers with the Gorge in the background are breathtaking! And very affordable for the artistry. Definitely fun to browse and see if something catches your eye that you just have to have! The gentleman working that day was friendly, helpful and in no way pressuring. He let me browse at my leisure and provided answers to my questions. I will check back from time to time as I am seeking a piece of art and have something in mind. I'll know it when I see it!

There is a charming farm store where you can buy various lavender products like essential oils and soaps and lavender themed gifts. They even provide blankets and umbrellas to borrow for those wishing to sit in the fields for a picnic. Don't worry, the bees won't bother you. They are busy doing their bee thing; pollinating is way more important than you! Lots of white Adirondack chairs amongst the lavender for those photo ops! The Columbia Gorge Crepes food truck is there serving delicious and hearty sweet and savory crepes. There are plenty of picnic tables in the shade to enjoy the crepes or a picnic you brought from home. Visit before the word gets out about this hidden gem!
