Vélib' Paris - Lineup of bicycles for rental. Late afternoon.

What's the best way to see paris for $2? On a bike!…read more One of my Paris highlights were this bikes! Though they may look clunky and hideous, they are great way to get you anywhere. After a couple days of walking everywhere my legs were dying. As much as I wanted to see everything paris had to offer my legs were telling me NO! Good thing we decided to try these bikes out because they saved our legs and took us to places faster than our two feet ever would. The website makes renting these bikes simple enough. You register online and pay with card and create a PIN. An email is sent to you with user numbers, that you'll need to enter in the kiosk to get a bike and don't forget your pin. As long as you return the bike to a station within 30 minutes you're guaranteed a $2 paris excursion all on two wheels. Most of the station are available on most popular areas and around the corners in big intersections. You can always rent the bike from the kiosk if you don't have time to register online. When you return your bike make sure to see a green light appear on your stand. If not, you can go to the main kiosk and troubleshoot from there. My light went orange in one instance because I shoved it in the wrong angle and the kiosk released it, so I could retry sliding it in. It was fun biking around like a local because even the locals use them. It was super scary biking on crowded roads with cars, but compared to America, french drivers are totally aware of their surroundings. The insurance you have with these bikes are they are heavy and big enough to keep you stable and withstand a lot of beatings. The fenders on the bike also come in handy for those spontaneous mother nature drizzles.

Beware of this company! I am very familiar with bike shares and scooter shares of many varieties…read morefrom many brands across many cities around the world. This brand is the scariest! 1. They have bikes in unsafe riding condition all over the city! Do they inspect or repair ever? 2. Several of their bikes have dubious connections with the server - so you may not be able to start a ride. AND you might think you're parking a bike and ending a ride, but in fact it is just locked to the rack but still running. 3. If (or should I say when) the ride malfunctions there is NO METHOD of getting in touch with customer service for help. So not only will you get overcharged and have to fight to remove the charge after the fact, but you will also be locked out of using any other bikes. That means that, if you purchased a subscription service for an entire day, but a bike won't log out of your app after you lock it up, you will not be able to use your subscription again with a new bike that day (since the old bike is still running). 4. There is no way to reply to a conversation or see your conversation history with customer service - so, no matter how many times you talk to them (or try to report problematic bikes), there is never a record to reference to indicate the problem you are having, if it is an ongoing one (or you are trying to point out that you did try to contact them over a broken bike). 5. You can't view your GPS history of the rides, so you can't argue where you did or did not ride when the service inevitably charges you for a 29-day ride that you did not take. I attempted 8 rides with this company over 4 days and only got 5 to work - and of those 5, it took trying several bikes before one was functional. This is almost a 100% error track record. This company will deliver you a questionable product and then charge your credit card for errors that its own server makes. I recommend you use literally any other rideshare program for your own peace of mind.

9:30PM Night Tour of Paris…read more.. Paris is a visual city. One of the best ways to orient yourself is with the popular two-hour tourist bus tours that loop the city center. After searching through AD's for objective reviews: (https://freetoursbyfoot.com/hop-on-hop-off-paris/), we saved a few euros by scheduling a night tour, a day before on their website. Navigating activities, times, connections, streets, maps, names, transport and stops takes real dedication. So, why not leave the driving to a tour company? Since we were arriving in the afternoon, it was expected that we would encounter rush hour. Too late for a daylight tour or even the 7:00PM night tour, although that's what we would have preferred since its right around sunset and warmer. Meeting near Rivoli Metro station we verified that we were paid passengers at the front desk. The bus was on time and once folks got their earplugs, there was a mad unorganized scramble to board the bus for folks to reach the open air upper deck. We started off in the loop from Notre Dame (unlit), Seine to Left Bank to Eiffel Tower, rounding the Champs Eylsees to the Arc de Triomphe, the Opera House, Moulin Rouge and back. Sitting towards the middle of the bus gives the best all around views. Best photographs are when the bus stops completely. Bring a jacket and scarf. Lots of those folks who rushed the top deck eventually went below since it gets cool as the evening wears on. For 20È its a quick cheap way to orient yourself and snap a few great pics. Audio was okay if you're paying attention. PS to past reviewers- it's one of the cheapest tour companies in Paris. So you kind of get what you pay for...

She also set up a few private tour guide visits. So when I knew I was coming back again, I contacted her on April 20 to set up some tours for an October trip. No response so I resent the email on April 25 - she responded: " I am so sorry I didn't see your email!" We traded a couple of emails about the tours I wanted to do. And then nothing. I sent an email on May 10 and then May 19. On May 23rd she responds: "You were in my spams! You are on my list but your request is pretty far compared to the numerous requests we have for May and June. Can it wait next week?" I answered of course, no problem. Except that I never heard from her again. I understand companies get busy but this is really a poor way to run a business. I guess my requests were not large enough for her to be bothered with. Sad..

In less than 30 minutes we were at Palais Garnier(opera house) in the heart of Paris. She elegantly led through the streets instilling all her knowledge of Paris and France. Janice sat me down with a cafe ole, and proceeded to inform me all about; neighborhoods, cafes, cabs, taxis, trains and the very important Paris metro system. Since my trip was to south she was in charge of getting me on to my train without fail, with threats of a national Rail Strike. My guide ensured me that I will get to my final destination and beyond. Without fail I was on a High Speed train to Lourdes France to begin a truly remarkable vacation, and by the time I got back to Paris I felt like an expert in getting around. Fabulous personalized tours !!! Rich the head concierge was excellent…read more My wife and I do not enjoy large group tours. That's why we went with this service. We first skyped with Sharon and Rich to plan out our trip, mainly to find the best out of the way places. We started the trip with a personal Airport pickup. Then we spent the next 4 days on some great private tours. First the Montmartre art & culture tour, then the Marais shopping tour (my wife designed her own perfume scent), then the Tuileries Waterlilies & Hot Chocolate Tour (love that Angelina's Hot Chocolate). But the best part though, was when Janice (a Jazz singer her self) took us on a custom Jazz music tour to the best out of the way Jazz venues, and gave us the low down on the Paris Jazz culture. We also wanted to to Marianne's private gallery tour, but the timing was not right. We'll do that one the next time, and probably the Cheese market tour, and (maybe) the 'Gotta Dance' tour. Thanks Rich and americanconcierge.com. We'll see you next time we're in Paris.
