Oliver from the front office is incredibly friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to be able to view the available units in person, and he sent me a very well taken, detailed video of the interior. He answered all my questions and really made sure that my moves, both in and out, were extremely smooth. Maintenance was also prompt and always made sure that everything was fixed within 1-2 business days! Now for the apartment itself - it was much larger than any other options nearby, and it was really nice! The unit looked a bit old but clean and functional in the video, but I was wrong... it wasn't old at all! The apartment was MUCH newer, brighter, and more updated than I anticipated - the best kind of surprise. I rarely ever heard my neighbors, always had power, and I especially loved that I had a massive pantry in the kitchen. My balcony faced 4th Ave, which leads directly to the Space Needle. Although I couldn't see the Needle from my windows, I never had to leave my apartment for any parades - they always started at the Seattle Center and went directly on the street below. The amenities it had were really nice - from the clubhouse to the gym. Both were clean, easy to access, and very updated. I especially loved that you didn't need to pay to book the clubhouse for personal events, as it made hosting larger groups for meals a lot easier! I was truly heartbroken to leave Sidney when work relocated me to Texas. It's a wonderful complex, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend!! If I ever move back, you know where I'll be living.

The Sidney is close to so many restaurants and shops and in fact, on the first floor, is Uptown Espresso. A cute little coffee shop that I would just walk down to every morning. Super convenient! The staff is what stands out about this building the most. The Property Manager is one of the best I've ever encountered. Always helpful and happy to assist. Overall, it's been a good experience but there are so many things that make this place not worth the price tag. Pros: Location- Great spot and walkable to so much. Tenants- good people and high probability of making friends. Young professionals, dog lovers Thick walls: I rarely hear my neighbors -- very, very rare. Aesthetics: the apartments themselves look really nice Washer/dryer: in unit and actually good quality. I've had some awful laundry units in apartments but these are legit and work well. Cons: Break ins: I am not exaggerating when I say tenants are constantly getting their bikes stolen, it's a monthly occurrence at least. (Theres bike storage in the garage for tenants ) Storage in the apartment: it's crazy how much planning did not go into the actual apartment. For example: my pantry is a closet that has zero shelves....my bedroom closet didn't have a full hanger rack when I moved in. Little things that make zero sense. Some kitchens barely have a drawer for silverware. Things that you may not notice while doing a walk thru but notice once you move in. No AC or ventilation: this is common in Seattle, I get it but please pay attention to what direction your apartment faces. I face west and live in a loft. Heat rises. It is miserable hot. It can be 70 degrees outside but 78 inside because of the lack of airflow. Even with an AC unit (these help but you better keep all the shades down and keep it running ALLLL day/night - plus depending on your setup, you may have to move furniture around to use an AC unit) The complex has AC units available to rent ... it isn't even that hot yet and it's already hard to get my bedroom (upstairs) under 72 degrees by 9pm. The complex should offer free AC units with how hot these apartments get. When it's nice/window season, you may not want to open your window because of how loud the road is. Even on the 4th floor, if you leave your balcony door/windows open, you will wake up from traffic/buses/people on 24th and 65th. It's not quiet...at all. Amenities: these have gotten better but still not great compared to what you can get at other places. They have done some work on the rooftop but it's still just fine. No gym, TVs aren't great, etc. The building itself needs new carpet/fresh paint on the walls. Look at the stairwells. Yes, I'm being picky but for the price, it should look better. As a whole, these apartments are fine but overpriced for what they are. You are paying for location and a "good looking" apartment. For the price, they should come with AC units, have more amenities, and updates in the actual building. Management and maintenance are good, I haven't had any issues there. This review isn't meant to bash BPL but give future residents a heads up and an honest expectation of what it's like to live here. I wouldn't choose an East (am sun) or West (pm sun) facing loft apartment. Seriously, too hot. I bet south facing is your best bet (less busy road, no direct sun). Lofts are cute but I'd suggest a flat. Hope this helps!

If you like a danish style design aesthetic, you'll love this place - natural wood kitchen and euro style appliances, walnut floors, clean lines. I also had a nice patio and my apt opened into a courtyard with tables, chairs, and a grill. The apartment was clean, spacious, quiet, and full of natural light. They even come with pre-installed window fixtures that fit the aesthetic perfectly. Loved! The grounds are kept up weekly (great landscaping that changes with the seasons) and there is a great little cafe attached to the building called Cafe Barjot. (good food, drinks, baked goods, and espresso!) The building also does a lot of nice things like holding your packages for you and hosting happy hours for all residents - this was especially nice for new people who had just relocated to Seattle. There's also an attached garage and an elevator. I think you get a lot for your money here - and if you work in South Lake Union area (Amazon, Fred Hutch, SCCA, etc) you can even walk to work.

I believe the owners of the bldg FINALLY hired an evening security guard to monitor, but can't believe it took literally a full year that we were there (and now that we're moving out). We've had our vespa damaged in an attempted theft, as well as the car broken into and stuff stolen from it. With the security issue hopefully addressed I'd give Belroy vintage units a 4 out of 5.

There is construction across the street, but because the project is so high profile the crews do a good job of sticking to the legal window for construction noise. If you are home during the week, it can get noisy. Most importantly, I loved the property management. The office manager takes building security and package delivery seriously, but she is very friendly and responsive with residents - exactly what you'd want in a busy downtown property. Maintenance staff are responsive and helpful. If there is an issue, it is heat during the summer. If you live on an upper floor you won't have to spend anything on heating all year because you get the residual heat from everyone below you. This is great during the fall and winter, but in the summer a fan or two often won't cut it. You are going to want an A.C. unit - just be sure to check with the building what type they can support. Had it been my decision, I would have stayed longer than a year, but we all have to make sacrifices for love.

I've never personally dealt with her more than once, but i'm not sure if she's technically in a resident facing position unless Genni is gone. She's not the worst but she's never been particularly helpful, and has a very curt attitude. She always seems annoyed that she has to be there, and will not know the answer to your questions if you ask them. Genni will, and if she doesn't she will find out quickly and get back to you. The country music mentioned in the reviews does play in the lobby but it definitely is not blaring. Haha. All in all I'd recommend it!

I was here for just over two years, so I really got to see a lot of Ballard. The best part about the apartment is that it was so far removed from the main bustle of downtown Ballard. It was always very quiet at night. Neighbors were quiet, outside noises were quiet. I never had a noise complaint (other than when I first moved in and could hear the slight buzz from the generator of 7-11 next door). Additionally, the price was great for the location and size of the apartment. I was paying $835/month for a very large, one-bedroom apartment. The downside is that this moved up to $900 my last couple of months, and they did tell me that the new price was in line with what they were charging new tenants, so word to the wise. I did have a couple of complaints....at some point during my time living at Lockside, property managers changed over. I'm not sure if property management companies were changed or not, but we had new on-site managers and the old manager, Rick, was kicked to the curb. This disappointed me because Rick was a really great manager. He was always working on the exterior of the building, keeping things clean and up-to-date, and he would fix any maintenance problems immediately. He was also really nice and friendly. He was replaced by Scott and Matt, who, while both very nice, weren't quite as good as Rick, in my opinion. They were friendly and worked on the building some, but were slower about getting things taken care of than Rick. Nothing that really changed the quality of living at the complex, but enough to notice. Eventually, I decided to move up further north to be closer to my family and friends. A couple of shady-ish things happened around the time I moved out. With 15 days left in the month, I tried to give a 20 day notice. Not to move out by the end of the month, but to move out after 20 days. They refused it and required me to stay another full month, which was really frustrating. Since I had to stay an extra month, I was pretty slow about removing some of my things from my apartment. I moved all the big stuff on one large moving day, but there was plenty that I had to come back for over multiple visits. As I was nearing the end of the last month, I got a call asking me if I could finish moving out ASAP so another tenant could move into my old place. This was on about Monday of the last week and they wanted me out...like immediately...before my final month was up. I still had things there and needed to finish cleaning. On top of that, the request meant that they had showed my apartment WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Granted, I had very few things left in the apartment, but that is definitely illegal. I was more than annoyed but told them if they gave me a couple of days to get everything else out, the tenant could still move in a few days early. I just wanted to get out of there at that point. On the final day that I came to pick the last few things up and give back the keys, I saw that someone had entered and cleaned the carpet without getting my permission to come inside first. I was furious. They entered AGAIN without permission. When I met up with one of the managers, he did apologize and say that he should have told me that someone was going to come clean the carpets, but that he forgot because he was in a rush to try and get things ready for the new tenants. I accepted his apology, but...it was still illegal. In the end, I got my full deposit back, minus carpet cleaning, and they did prorate my rent for the few days that I didn't live in the apartment and let the new tenants move in. I was pleased about that, for sure. Minus the somewhat shady things that happened when I left, I did like living here. I was bummed out that those things happened, but I think the good times I had in that apartment kind of overshadow those incidents. Looking back, I think I would live here again.

He's open to suggestions to improving the living situation of the building. What I miss about living there was the laundry room. Cheaper than the other local laundromats, you go to the basement in your pajamas. This makes life more convenient and I don't have to go out at all! The Stratford allows cats! My cat liked living there too. At times she likes to wander around the hallway. I would highly recommend living there.

Great comparative space for the price in the area. Location wise it was great. I mean if you work downtown, especially for Amazon you cannot beat it. It was a few blocks from my work many, many buses on the opposite side of the block, Westlake two blocks away, the SLUT (South Lake Union Trolley), Shopping galore! 3 blocks from Pikes Place and the waterfront, Bed Bath and beyond, City Target, a few malls and Cinerama, an awesomely renovated 1960s theatre used for movie premiers and such. The street itself has many restaurants include 4 from James beard award winning chef Tom Douglas. The Residence manager Nick and staff were great. He would respond to by text, calls, and email for any concern. Friendly, honest and Diligent. I don't know about the Robin dude but Nick is da bomb! Oh and the is a sweet roof top deck with a bbq.
