Oregon State University for many majors is the top university in Oregon! It certainly has the most beautiful campus. It has the old brick classic Quad, outdoor seating areas and lawns for study. The Veterinary school and Engineering school is top notch. Linus Pauling Institute is here, as well as his worldly collection which is in the main library upstairs.

Went to a Beavers game. The campus is nice. Cool people, except for the security guard complaining that we chose to stand vs sit in our seated area. Whatever. The Beavers beat Washington which really isn't that great of a school but hey, a w is a w. 4 stars because I'm totally an ASU alum. Fear the fork, but since I'm reviewing here go Beavs!

Oregon state university campus is amazing. Very friendly and easy to get around. Gill Coliseum is old school for basketball so you are close to the court and close to the action.

2015-2017 GED taker - LBCC Benton…read more Preparing for my GED, I was a student at LBCC Benton for two years. Towards the end of the 2nd year, just when I was getting ready to do the GED exams the school informed me that I was not allowed to renew my registration. At first, they cited the reason was my duration of my being there. Since there were no rules or warning about time limit this reason was confusing to say the least. I knew it was not because of my lack of attendances nor my commitment, hence, to disallowed me to continue was discouraging. After communicating with the head of the GED department of LBCC, it was explained that the school feels my progress showed that I was fit to take the exam and there was no need to return for more classes. Futher citing reasons about government funding and how it would look bad for the matrix of the school if students continues to study without taking the GED exam. Well I did not feel ready to do all the exams and ended up hiring a private tutor, hence, added expenses just to complete my GED. I think it was an unfortunate decision on the school to have curtailed my education in such a manner that caused me much anxiety, a sense of discouragement and extremely higher financial expenses to complete my GED.

Oregon State University, Corvalis is in the process of violating both the Federal and State…read moreAmerican's With Disabilities Act (ADA) and denying me, a seventy-nine year old woman with multiple disabilities my legal rights. I was told by the VITA program in Eugene which filed an IRS extension form for me last week that I would have to find a form which I was missing at the time and then go to their Corvallis office to complete the process of filing with the IRS. (They were correct. I was missing the form and the Eugene office was closing before I could return there.) I was given a pile of paper work to take to Corvallis, and we discussed that I could go to Corvallis any day before the extension deadline, by appointment. We discussed my legal status as a multi-disabled senior. I returned home, found the missing form, and (as instructed) called the number the Eugene office had given me in Corvallis. The answering machine directed me to an on-line appointment schedule. I accessed the schedule. No appointments were available. I called the same number the morning of the next day. My call was not returned. No appointments were available on-line. I left messages and my phone calls were not returned that day. The next day I accessed the schedule. Only evening appointments were available. I cannot drive at night, due to disabilities, and have nobody who can drive me. I called the Dean's office of the School of Business and was given two email addresses to contact. I double checked the email addresses with that person and then mailed emails explaining my problem and asking them to return my call. Both emails came back as not currently working. I tried to look up the phone number of the program's supervisor. No phone number was on the web site. I found a third email address on the web site and wrote to it (look at the site and you can see it yourself) and that email was also returned as not deliverable. Finally, a message was left on my answering machine that did not address the issue but invited me to call back. I did. I was told that no daytime appointments, any day or any day time hours existed and that I could not be accommodated. I explained that under both Federal and State ADA laws, a "reasonable accommodation" was to be made for disabled people and that I am entitled to such. The person to whom I spoke said she would check with her supervisor. I told the person to have the coordinator call the legal office of the University which would explain the University's legal obligation for "reasonable accommodation" under the law. Instead, the next day the coordinator called and again refused an accommodation. She was hostile, would not let me even explain one third of the problem and said that because she was a volunteer, she did not have to listen to me. She SLAMMED THE PHONE ON ME. She felt that the Law does not apply to OSU or to the program or to her as a volunteer and that she did not have to listen to my complaint and request. I was never even allowed to explain the problem fully! I have a call in to the Provost's office and am waiting for a returned phone call. The VITA program is under the School of Business. The conduct of this coordinator on the phone was both illegal and obnoxious. If the University refuses to give me a daytime appointment (10 am to 4 pm) they are in violation of ADA Law. I will take them to Court pro-per. I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE UNIVERSITY SAY THAT THERE IS NOT ONE PERSON IN THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS WHO CAN MAKE TIME FOR A QUICK APPOINTMENT IN WHICH I GIVE THEM THE FULL PAPERWORK (ALREADY ALL BUT COMPLETED ON THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM) DURING ANY DAY. WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE CIVIL RIGHTS LAW FOR DISABLED PERSONS IF MAJOR UNIVERSITIES DO NOT INSTRUCT THEIR WORKERS AND VOLUNTEERS THAT THE LAW EXISTS AND IS ENTITLED TO ENFORCEMENT.

In short, the equipment is new…read moreand in good shape, but the gym is severely undersized, and lacking a good range of equipment. You'll find yourself pacing around looking for a bench, or a rack. I often end up doing standing exercises, because standing space is all that's left in the dumbbell area. I've seen crowds hover for the chance at getting a power rack, or lines form for several machines, such as the one and only seated cable row, or one of two lat pulldown machines. Personally, no matter how nice the equipment is, if it's too crowded to use any of it, it might as well not be there. Dropping a weight isn't as much of a safety concern as it is getting smacked in the face by the guy standing next to you. However, all that said, it's still not a bad place to lift. They provide lifting and dip belts behind the counter. The plates are round, not hexagonal. The machines might not be lubricated often, but they're in the very least in working order. If you find a bench in the dumbbell area, most of them are adjustable from a decline, to upright. All the plates and DB's are rubber coated, which I usually don't prefer, but in a gym like this, does substantially help keep the noise level tolerable. It's got great hours - especially for the average student, a large locker room that's always got open lockers (as well as rentable ones), classes, personal trainers and nutritionists available. I have little to no input on Dixon's other amenities, other than that they also offer a pool, rock climbing area, several basketball and racquetball courts, a men's and women's sauna, cardio machine rooms, and multiple classes - all of which seem just as popular as weightlifting aforementioned. However, everything said, it could severely use an expansion.
