We enjoyed the concert at Immanuel Church this past Saturday night. The venue was beautifully decorated by 3000 candles and the music played by the Quartet which that night was Coldplay and Imagine Dragons was just spectacular. It's hard not be overcome with emotion when you listen to these brilliant musicians who have arranged contemporary songs for four string instruments in an innovative and transformative experience. And their exuberance and joyful musical connection with the audience is breathtaking. Can't wait to see them again! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. I hired OQ to play on an album I was making--a passion project with a tight budget--and they were worth every penny and more. In just a 4-hour session, I was blown away by how much we accomplished. Their precision as a unit was unreal: even difficult passages were nailed in a single take. Beyond proficiency, what really sets them apart is the beauty of their ensemble playing. At the end of the session, I asked them to improvise on a track I wasn't even sure needed strings. I expected chaos, but what I heard was the opposite: it sounded like they could read each other's minds. Every note, dynamic, and phrase moved together seamlessly. That song went from "maybe no strings" to being the most string-driven piece on the album. When your art matters, you hire the best. I'll never need to look for another string quartet again. read more

A REAL WARNING, with receipts included: The Orchid Quartet is very talented and entertaining, as a musical group. Go to their Candlelight Concerts -- we've seen them in several and there's nothing to dislike... But never hire them for an event: my partner and I made the grave mistake of booking them for our wedding. We spent an ungodly amount of money to fly them out and put them up in five-star accommodations, just for them to perform for about two hours. Then, they decided to take a Panic! At the Disco gig over our wedding (see photo 1 of 2). (And to be frank, I kind of get it -- why would you play at a someone's wedding when you COULD be playing for a top-tier band at a big show in Vegas?) It just felt hurtful and it was a tremendous betrayal to be sidelined like that, particularly after signing a (supposedly binding) contract that WE couldn't back out of -- but, evidently, they could/did. So, we were obviously let down and disappointed, and we let them know this the way mature people would -- firmly, but with absolutely no abusive language, no profanity, nothing threatening -- and THEN things got next-level ridiculous with them (see photo 2 of 2). This is the juncture where they backed out of even providing substitute musicians for themselves because they were, somehow, surprised that we felt disappointed and letdown -- in their exact words, that "created an environment not conducive to a positive and collaborative experience." It was around this time that we realized they probably had never intended to play at our wedding: Their point of contact, cellist Leah Metzler, let it slip that they hadn't even arranged the pieces we'd requested (and were commissioning) for the wedding yet -- that was just a little over a month prior to the wedding -- so they still would have had to arrange, learn and practice six brand-new pieces beforehand. Leah ALSO tried to gaslight me into thinking that we hadn't confirmed a date with them (also photo 2), even though they clearly confirm it in their December 11 email (photo 1), going on to say that they are "fully committed to providing the music for [our] event..." Unreal. (If I seem vindictive in writing them a one-star review because they, point blank, backed-out of playing our wedding for something more attractive and couldn't even be bothered to send second-string players in their place, ask yourself how you'd feel...) To be fair, I want to reiterate that these are very talented musicians (watching Michelle Shin, violin, slay pretty much anything she plays is typically worth the price of admission alone). That's what made the entire ordeal all the more devastating to us; as I relayed to Leah, people were going to be flying in from all over the world to hear them play at our wedding and everyone was so excited about it. This didn't resonate, which is pretty soul-crushing; that you can have a signed contract with Orchid and then they choose a flashier gig over your own wedding? It hurts. And I'm not writing this review to trash them, but rather to genuinely warn anyone thinking of booking Orchid Quartet -- they might seem dedicated to you at the onset, but they'll dump you for something else at a moment's notice (and try to make YOU feel guilty for being upset about it). read more

We did not see the Orchid Quartet we saw the musicians at a Fever show at the Nixon Library. It was wonderful.

These amazing women were one of the highlights of our Solvang wedding. They added such class to our church wedding and even learned a custom Taylor Swift song that had always been my dream to walk down the aisle to. At our cocktail hour they played a range of hits from Nirvana to Billie Eilish that our guests are still raving about. The process of selecting songs was incredibly easy and their performances were a true highlight of our day! read more

The credits and experience they collectively hold is unreal and also their kindness and ability to treat your music as lovingly and carefully as if it were their own in unparalleled. Wow! Where do I begin? My (now) wife and I first saw these women perform a smaller show roughly 2 years ago and, after enjoying it so much, she wanted to see if they played weddings. At the time they said they don't often do them but asked us to reach out and let them know what we were thinking. Long story short, we were lucky enough to have them perform for us at our wedding this past February and it was such an incredible honor to have them there for that day. Molly and Kiara are the absolute best. Their communication and willingness to customize their performance to songs we wanted (including one that wasn't in their songbook) made everything so perfect. They were as professional and easy to work with as it gets and I can't thank them enough for doing this. We'll remember it for the rest of our lives. read more

We went to see them perform music inspired by Beyonce songs and it was an extremely disappointing and miserable experience. The quartet is amazing however they ENCOURAGED crowd participation so as they played, the audience was singing, dancing and clapping along which made it difficult to hear and concentrate on the musicians themselves. They enforced no rules so there is was tons on talking and flash photography throughout the entire show. Having been to Beyoncé concerts, I find that an excellent time to sing, dance, snap, clap along etc however this is- well at least I thought- supposed to be a classical music experience. The crowd this show attracts display no decorum for this type of atmosphere. I expected a romantic and magical evening and it instead felt like a campfire Kumbaya. I'm embarrassed to have taken my well versed and highly educated and well traveled fiancé to this show. It would have been an amazing evening if they could control the audience but they don't even try and as I said, encourage this behavior. If you are in the mood for classical and used to respectful behavior from the audience I unfortunately recommend to stick the the classics. If you're looking for people to treat classical music players in a classic setting as casual street performers then this is the show for you. read more

We worked with the Orchid Quartet for a performance at Google LA that included everyone in the audience wearing Virtual Reality headsets while the Quartet performed an original piece. We were pretty nervous about the performance itself and the ladies at Orchid made it such a pleasure. The music was exquisite. The moment of the performance itself was unique and incredibly powerful.
