I would like to tell you about my experiences as a student and learning the BAST way. As sound therapy goes, there is a growing pond of training providers out there that teach sound therapy/ sound healing over a weekend. This is something that certainly cannot be done with a course of this nature. The BAST way is the the right way to teach sound therapy, not only are you learning to play new instruments that you would require in a sound therapy session you are learning the fundamentals as to why we play the instruments that way and the effects it has on the person recieving the treatment. The BAST team are so incredibly passionate about sound therapy and it being delivered safely and efficiently and that is why the training takes longer than a most. The course is value for money and not only gives you and week of intense learning, you have an online portal for all your learning materials and coursework submission. The teachers are always available via email and even phonecall if you feel you need further support. In my eyes The BAST way is the only way to learn sound therapy and so much research has been poured into the BAST methods, you only have to look online at some of the newspaper articles that BAST has been named in and how effective BAST method sound therapy is. Yes it is an investment to set up with all your Instruments, but for people wanting to do sound therapy professionally you have to expect to pay for quality instruments and the course is a quality course that offers you life time support in your business as a sound therapist. I would absolutely recommend The British association of sound therapy to anybody who is looking at training in the field.

For example, my classroom had examples of flares and other safety gear on the wall which the instructor referred to during the class. The class was well prepared and used PowerPoint slides shown on a big screen on the classroom. The best part of the course was the practical session. Storm force booked a pool for our life raft training, which was a 2 hour long session. We also got to test fire flares. I also found Stormforce to be responsive to emails before the class with questions about the course and content. Also good follow-up emails with tutorials and info.

Both of our older children have had amazing relationships with the staff and I believe this has helped them socially and in preparing them for school. My daughter enjoys the many varied activities undertaken throughout the day, and that she is encouraged to enjoy the outside areas in all weathers, enjoys finding the biggest muddiest puddles to jump in and all this energy is replenished by healthy food and snacks provided by the nursery.

Overall: Not a bad university…read more I started at Southampton as graduate student, starting a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. The Chemistry department's wet laboratories has recently had a face-lift and everything looks brand-spankingly new. However, we weren't based in that section of the department... Space is a problem in the Chemistry Department. As a graduate student at the time I was there and the group I was in, the office situation was very dire. We were in an office of 40, with poor air circulation. It was often that some people in the office would be freezing and others would be roasting. If anyone got a cold/had flu, we'd all get it. Because of the limited seating, any new member to our research group had to share the office space of my professor! At one point in time, he had two post-doctorates in the same office as him. I now hear that my old research group has their own office. Other than that, the facilities at this university seem to be pretty good. Not a lot is really located on campus, except a gymnasium, swimming pool, a couple of eateries and student union store.

City College offers beauty services at cheaper prices because the work is done by students/trainees. However the work is overseen by the teacher and every time I have been there the work has been of an extremely high standard. I have had two pedicures, one cost £5 which is the normal price and one was £1 as it was done by a student who had never done one before!!! Both were good, the 1st one slightly better. Both lasted 45 minutes and were just as good as any pedicure I have received at an actual salon. They also offer facials, massages, manicures and waxing. As well as this there is a hairdressing salon that offers a similar service, however this I have not tried

Hampshire Record Office is situated in Sussex Street, a short walk from Winchester train station…read moreand the town centre. It is an excellent archive. The service is very good, staff are friendly and the collections are fascinating, including some collections relating to Jane Austen. The record office seems to be doing a good job of taking advantage of new technology - the catalogue of their collections, including lots of photographs, is available online and talks given at the Record Office are made available as Podcasts. The Wessex Film and Sound archive is also at the Record Office. This has some really interesting historic films - great fun to watch!
